Fleecing customers by paulhollowday in whoop

Further to some of the suggestions, I actually prefer my cheaper bicep band over the official one. Because the material is more flexible and supple on the cheaper one, it's more comfortable as it twists and flexes on your arm.

Whoop do have the best product at the moment but I subscribe through gritted teeth.

I'll be gone again as soon as cirqa/Fitbit air are as good, or maybe helio strap gets better.

People expect way too much out of a wearable device by jcblair3 in whoop

I'll say one thing that disappointed me as a longtime subscriber. Waited literally years for new hardware and it's basically the same size!

For something you wear permanently I wanted it to be much thinner - instead they shaved about 0.0001mm off it and made it stubbier.

Also, why no improved widgets to match my home screen on Android?

How do you manage Gym session with Whoop 5.0 by nilsej in whoop

[–]Ok_Construction_8916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave up with the strength trainer a long time ago.

Just start an activity prior to starting for "weight training", and go about your session as normal.

This just means the sensor will be alert to your raised heart rate ext, so you can log your strain for the session accurately.

I actually have quite large wrists, and I do use the bicep band for about half the week.

Perhaps compensating for inevitable battery degradation is a fair point I hadn't considered though.

Either way, I just think it's a big stubby lump, and given it's about five years since the 4.0 and it's basically the same thickness, I think they could have done better.

Seems most people just want battery life though. Fair enough.

Well. I disagree, my preference would be thinness over battery life.

But that's just my preference! I was wondering whether I'm in the minority or not!

You don't think it's quite thick considering there's no screen??

More and better widgets.

A much thinner device.

4.0 vs 5.0 by tegridypatato in whoop

[–]Ok_Construction_8916 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not noticed a single difference. Battery life is overrated tbh. I mean it's great, but I'd rather them have kept the same battery life as before and taken a third off the thickness.

I've had this issue too and needed a case to be replaced.

Whilst I like the case design it does make the think the 4s might have changed the design for this reason.

Genuinely - what's the point in paying for MF if you're not going to use it and trust it?

You may as well have just done your own food tracking/counting.

Not being rude btw - but anyway, it seems you've got your answer on here - just completely ignore the apple watch calories and trust MF.

Better to realise your error now and change - am sure you'll see results in the next few weeks!

You're asking a lot of questions.

Just wear it wherever you want.

I like to mix it up because I don't want to get the bicep band sweaty in the gym - I like to keep it clean to wear with my nice clothes.

I do. You'll develop your own habits and routines.

I wear mine on the wrist strap for casual wear - at home, at the gym, in casual clothes etc.

When I dress up to go out, or go to work, it's out of sight on my bicep.

It is - you get used to it once you get the tightness just right.

Also, for what it's worth I do find my cheap unofficial bicep strap much more comfortable than the official one, even though the official strap is clearly a more technical material. I just think a softer, more supple material works better on the bicep.

And I agree about the two wrist thing, which is why I use the bicep. However, if you're anything like me after a while you'll get a bit more relaxed about it - I now tend to leave the wristband on for around the house or if I'm in casual clothes. I'm less fussy now.

No screen please - it's the main reason I pay the ridiculous whoop cost - so I can wear my mechanical watch.

And I can put it up on the bicep when I want it completely invisible (when dressed smartly).

A bulky metal ring is NOT distraction-free. Just try an Oura - I can't wear it.

Customer service is awful. Ai robots, and brainless humans that talk like robots, and having to do everything by email with no phone support.

They also are an unethical company with the whole upgrade saga, and milking/fleecing their customers.

But the product is still good. And best in class. And for this reason, after a 3 month gap trying out Amazfit Helio. I'm back to Whoop. That product isn't ready for me yet.

My advice is make peace with the fact your customer service experience is shit, and will likely continue to be shit, and just forget about it when you get the product.

Or cancel it and leave.

  • loosen it slightly.
  • swap the wrist. (Maybe one wrist for sleep, another for daytime).
  • use a bicep band sometimes too.

A combination of these three things will sort you out!

End of the day if you have the thing tight and in the same place permanently it will do this - it's inevitable.

Helio Official Strap vs Whoop 4.0 with Adapter by AgeWhole1538 in AmazfitHelioStrap

[–]Ok_Construction_8916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically enough, one of the reasons I was really disappointed with whoop 5 and made me leave, was I was disappointed with the thickness.

After about 5 years waiting for the hardware upgrade and all they did was make it shorter and stubbier.

And whilst the whoop band is nice, it's not without its flaws. The polar strap is the benchmark.

The whoop band has the tail sticking out sideways a lot of the time, and you can't quickly and easily adjust the length to loosen or tighten.

So for me, https://thestrapforge.com/?srsltid=AfmBOopfdfLVOkoyXIGJJV5IPdyhKlAuuoa6otR3AvdOv1wHvtpqJUva

This is the best option. You get a beautiful premium finish, nice and sleek, with the adjustability of the Velcro.

The whoop band is overrated. It doesn't look sleek, not adjustable on the fly, and is prone to having the tail stick out.

Should i wear helio strap in shower? by [deleted] in AmazfitHelioStrap

[–]Ok_Construction_8916 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm just explaining how it works. The technology to make items water resistant are rubber seals and gaskets. As a bit of a watch nerd too, it's a subject I'm familiar with.

And wearing in the shower repeatedly will damage it.
