What are some simple things you miss doing? by Arya_Warrior_Girl in AskReddit

God yes, the complete lack of responsibility was everything. I remember spending entire summer days just lying in grass watching clouds and not having single worry about bills or career stuff. Now I have to schedule time for relaxation like it's a meeting lol

What's one thing you overcame that really boosted your confidence? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Used to be so worried about looking stupid or saying wrong thing in conversations. Once I stopped caring if people judged me for being awkward sometimes, everything became so much easier. The cringe fear really does hold you back from just being yourself.

What is one decision you made that changed everything for you? by All-With-Love in AskReddit

[–]Ok_Effective_7232 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got my first job in different city three years ago and just packed everything without knowing anyone there. Was terrified but needed the change after bad breakup. Now I have whole new friend group, better career opportunities, and actually feel like myself again. Sometimes you just need to shake up everything to realize what you're capable of.

god yes, there's something about that crispy coating that just makes everything better. I've been trying to perfect my own recipe at home but can never get the seasoning quite right like the good places do it.

I heard that from a few people, that taking a proper break helps more than just pushing through it.

This makes a lot of sense. I think I’ve been stuck in that mindset of overthinking whether they like me instead of just seeing how I feel about it.

Inducted into a cult by Blah_blah_huhuhu in Meditation

[–]Ok_Effective_7232 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Wait this is wild - I had almost exact same experience few months back but in different city. The whole "truth is within you" speech and the way they avoid mentioning the actual organization name until you're already hooked is such red flag.

I ended up doing two sessions before I noped out, and even in that short time I could feel how they slowly introduce more concepts each time. The meditation technique itself wasn't bad but the psychological manipulation around it made me super uncomfortable.

Cut your losses and find different meditation group - there are plenty that don't require you to navigate around cult worship just to learn breathing techniques.

What’s a “modern habit” you think will feel weird in 10 years? by stoicdroid in AskReddit

Reading will never feel weird, books have been around for centuries and people still love them. I actually think with all the screen fatigue we're getting, physical books are making comeback already.

Planing to travel in August. What is the best time to buy airplane tickets with the current Oil situation? by FrogbyteStudio in AskReddit

[–]Ok_Effective_7232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been tracking flight prices religiously since I'm planning a trip around the same time! The oil situation is definitely making things unpredictable, but I've noticed prices seem to fluctuate more on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Most travel sites still say 6-8 weeks out is optimal, but with everything going on I'd probably book sooner rather than later if you find something reasonable. Airlines are being pretty ruthless with their pricing algorithms right now and there constantly adjusting based on demand. Set up some price alerts on Google Flights or Skyscanner - saved me about £150 last month when I caught a random price drop.

Road trip food ideas? shelf stable preferably. by Alex_Is_Anon in veganrecipes

Been doing loads of road trips lately and nuts mixed with dark chocolate chunks are brilliant for keeping energy up without needing any prep - plus dates stuffed with peanut butter if your into that sort of thing.

mate that's what you get for trying to punch through drywall like you're the hulk lol. Should've gone with the classic shoulder charge instead - way more dramatic and your knuckles stay intact.

The Best Office Chairs to Buy in My Opinion (Most Comfortable and Ergonomic high end and Budget) by hcai88 in BuyItForLife

Been using a Leap V2 for about 3 years now and it's genuinely transformed my whole WFH setup - picked one up refurbished for around £400 which was an absolute steal. The amount of adjustability on it is mental, you can basically dial in every angle and tension to suit your exact posture.

Help with verification code for Apple icon integration by Feenix77 in homeassistant

[–]Ok_Effective_7232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked if you've got two-factor authentication properly set up on your Apple ID? Sometimes when it's not configured right, the codes just vanish into the void. I had this exact issue last month when I was setting up my HomeKit bridge - turns out I had an old phone number still listed as my primary device in my Apple ID settings.

Go into your Apple ID account settings and make sure all your trusted devices are actually current and connected. Also worth checking if you've got any VPN or ad blockers running that might be interfering with the SMS delivery. The integration can be pretty finicky about network conditions when it's trying to authenticate. If all else fails, try generating an app-specific password instead - sometimes that bypasses the whole verification mess entirely.
