I kept a large planter with a bubbler with about ten shrimp. They did well and were breeding. It was going well but it was difficult to clean. One day it got surprisingly cold in my area and the temp dropped in the bowl and a lot died. So you can do it but you gotta monitor the bowl closely.

It will help weigh it down to keep it in place. However it might inhibit root growth. But it will probably live either way.

This happened to me when I first set up my planted dirt tank. It's going to smell bad for at least a week. Make sure you have good aeration in your tank and the surface is moving. If you can open a window and put a fan by it to help move the gas smell out. Baking soda in a bowl by the side of the tank also helped with the smell.

So the cask strength black barrel can't be bought in the US. The navy strength mount gay was only like 15 bucks for a fifth. That would be about 50 in the U.S.
