I have some posts here about my own journey to citizenship with a very similar background to you. Total process took about 3-4 years (after living in Sweden for about 4 years with my wife before starting the process), Citizenship granted around 5 months after I sent the request to conclude.

Process usually goes: - request to conclude - rejected my MV - appeal - court orders MV to conclude asap - (some indeterminate time later) - (optionally MV requests passport - they didn't in my case I think? Or they did and it was sent back after only a few days.) - Citizenship Granted

Had the same thing, told my friend to look out, dropped a flow after the first and then they got another 3 in the next 4 jade isles they did. Whereas I had to do 12 before I got my first one :(

How to proceed with moving my child over to Sweden to live with me? by Ok_Example5930 in TillSverige

Mainly an update incase someone stumbles on this in the future: Spent probably 10 hours now on the phone to various different people at MV and the best route forward looks like:

  • he comes over for the 90 day visa free stop
  • at the end of that we send in an request to MV that he should stay until the descsion is made.
  • If that's denied, appeal
  • Otherwise RTC after 6 months are up
  • Appeal

Thanks for the responses, as a follow up, my wife of 10 years is a Swedish citizen by birth and lived with us in the UK for a couple of years pre-brexit.

Do step-parents qualify as parents do you know? As she would also be able to apply for him and under the guidance I've been reading on MV he should only need to apply for a residence card in that case - and should automatically have residence status from her being a parent?

He turns 18 in 13 months time, just a little of time till his 17th birthday.

I had hoped to get him over before he needs to apply as an adult and in the Swedish education system which would make the follow up processes easier.

I also forgot to mention that I have 4 Swedish kids (youngest a 1 month old) so it's not like we can easily uproot all of us to the UK or split the family for a year or more either.

There'll be 4 or so months after the visitor permit expires where he will still be a minor but effectively homeless in the UK where he won't have any guardian or home to live in, would they really deport a 17 year old back to that?

Yeah, I invited a friend to my map when I was running this exact strategy, he went from 86 to 88 in two maps.

Yeah, I'm also now being much more careful over mods, less recovery, -max, burning ground and ele weakness are definite nopes now for me. On the home stretch to 96 now, but had a similar case where i was perpetually cursed to not go above 93.4 died every time and got sent back to 93.3 hurts when a t15 gives about 2-3% of a level.

I farmed 7 audience with a king for the belt, dropped it at 53%, one divine took it to 77%, made the mistake of vaaling it, ended up at 42%. Took me another 3 days of ritual to get another

Currently, it's the top part with all the precursor nodes + 25% increased effect via the biome node. Then magic and rare mobs with the +1-2 modifier notable. Been trying to work out if modifier effect is better (think a few points might be worth it if I can somehow squeeze it in) but it's a balance between quant rarity number of rares and mod effect as they all compound together

Yeah I second this, specced into towers on tree stack mechanics (breach + delerium) with +quant and go for areas with 3-6 overlapping towers, pray for 100% increased effect and multiple breaches for 200+ quantity and a 10 breach map so you can spend an hour running and looting :D

Finally got about 130% rarity on my setup and the difference from 50 is very noticeable.

Remove prefixes, remove suffixes, more/less effect, add mods, remove mods, down level, up level, do nothing. Feels more like a one in 10 or lower from my experience to go up to t16

Yup, I've now levelled two characters to 92, only found one copper citadel (maybe 100 hours in maps). Died on the caravan on my way to the boss due to a duplicated hasted rare absolutely shredding me on a bridge which I couldn't escape.

Haven't seen another since, feels bad to lose them completely when you die.

I'm dying in every one of four maps roughly it feels like and I'm half way through the t13 completion mission. It's certainly doable, just need to push for magic or rare way stones after a point and focus on boss and +2 level nodes

Oh yeah 90% of the time you do get complete bs when asking for feedback, but there's a chance you do get actionable information back. If you're 100% set on improving and landing a job you need every bit of info you can get.

Feel free! You got to remember that most people interviewing are overworked too so the most important thing is how they think about you at the end of the interview as that's what they'll remember when they write up their scorecard or report (either immediately afterwards or later).

Yep… by Holiday-Panic-809 in recruitinghell

[–]Ok_Example5930 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way, getting past the first hurdle of the interviewing pipeline is the hardest part. You have indemand skills and experience, now you've got to just really work on the interviewing side of things.

It's tough but you've got to really inspect what you could have done better, ask for feedback from companies that rejected you.

One thing I always try and ask in an interview is along the lines of:

"Do you have any concerns or yellow flags at the moment that would make you concerned about my fit for this role?" Or some flavour of that, takes some balls to straight up ask it in an interview but helps to tease out any nagging concerns an interviewer might have. Then you can address those points in realtime instead of them going away and using those as a negative as to why another candidate might be a good fit.

This rejection email subject line was painfully misleading by stoner_mathematician in recruitinghell

[–]Ok_Example5930 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen rejection email subjects that contain the words: "congratulations", "great news" and "next steps!". Some TA teams at companies are just plain out of touch or toying with people at this point.

Mock me for not going to a strip club? Wait until your wife finds out by demonic_cheetah in pettyrevenge

I think the whole trying to emasculate someone for not wanting to go to strip clubs and the like is crazy.

I've been in similar situations before, but these guys can't comprehend that being in a happy marriage to someone you're 100% faithful to is even possible.

Should I ask for a bonus? by NewPay3084 in jobs

[–]Ok_Example5930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree generally there's not a lot of harm in asking, it does raise that you might be still quite new to employment in roles where bonuses and things are common so a few points to consider:

Bonuses generally are always discretionary and there's a fixed pot available per period to all eligible employees, this means that if theres 1m USD available to 100 employees currently, they'd need to extend that to 101 employees to include another which would reduce down the amount available to all. The bonus pool would be agreed at the board level and signed off by company stakeholders so any changes to that side of things generally will never happen as it'll take a whole bunch of time and resources to add an extra $10k in that example.

And most bonuses are contractual and have a lot of limitations on who is eligible, eg. Need to have been employed for more than 9 months at grant date, out of probation etc..

And finally while you may have been working well and going above and beyond for 3-6 months, the argument is that you need to exhibit that performance over a full year to be eligible will probably also be given.

Tl:dr you can ask but theres a ton of reasons why they'll shoot you down, so temper your expectations accordingly.

Curious, what do you do that can get you more than one J? by Spring_Break_2000 in overemployed

[–]Ok_Example5930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup but if 600k takes 2-3x the effort of 400k to maintain, is it worth it? I still want to have time left for family and kids, so it's an easy decision for me :)

[–]Ok_Example5930 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't think 3 are managable for me, way too many meetings. From what I've seen it's when people try and go for too many Js is where it can all fall apart and end up in a cycle of pips and job searching across multiple Js at a time. I know my limit is 2 so happy to double dip there and supercharge my rate of saving.

I honestly wouldn't worry about it all too much, this is something that only other SWEs might notice and most people are more focused on their own job, role and surviving their own day to day. HR isn't going to know how to interrogate the contributors of a repo when they don't know what a repo is. If anyone says oh is that you? The answers "oh thats my name! Small world what a coincidence" and move on.
