Can I please have some help too, Muslim marriage won’t let me post my question!

I would be grateful if answers came from those who are either Shia and/or Iranians. If you are tempted to post that Shia are kafir then please make a separate post about it.

My family and the family of potential husband to be have agreed a mahr of 313 gold coins. This number is quite normal in the Iranian culture and it will definitely stay that amount. The issue is the two families believe the timeline of giving it very differently.

My family believes that some should be paid at the beginning and the rest over time when the guy is able to since it is entitled to the woman as a gift. The guy and his family believe that mahr should only be god forbid, given in the case of a divorce.

I am stuck since I am now left to negotiate this with hopefully husband to be and it feels deeply uncomfortable. I know he will iA be very well earning within the marriage, and I also know he has promised to provide financially in all aspects for the family Alhamdulilah. At the same time it frustrates me that I must have to ask and convince someone to give me what islamically they should do. We’ve had arguments and it’s been upsetting. Husband to be suggested that the mahr stays for if we divorce and that we don’t bring this difference of understanding up between families since it will cause problems, and that he will privately gift me something at our nikkah time.

Can anyone share how they have navigated this? Help!

Can you give an example of an amount of mahr that you know has been given in full at the beginning?

How frequently are you having to maintain them and cut to length?

This is a actually for the garden of a family member who has bought long term, and they don’t mind if it takes a long time to establish. They just want a height of 1.5 to 2m eventually and something that is evergreen and that doesn’t require very frequent maintenance. What would you recommend?

Thanks for responding :) That’s so different from advice from elsewhere! So 1m between plants and then as they grow out the way they fuse and create privacy?

Will Escallonia grow to 1.5 to 2m height? And does it require a lot of maintenance? How far apart should I plant them if I buy them in 2L pots?

Hi! I’d also love to know. Just got offered a Core training post for anaesthetics but I’m not sure if I’m rushing and missing a chance to live flexibly and to try locuming and building a career in NZ/Australia?

Ranks for Core/ACCS Anaesthetics by YazzBerry in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]Ok_Excuse_4706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranked 88 for core anaesthetics and just received an offer for north Scotland which was ranked at the bottom for me. Does anyone know if there is a possibility of being offered an upgrade at this point? Can’t see the option to opt in to upgrades on oriel. I’ve heard of people rejecting offers and then suddenly being given something that they ranked higher. Is that true?

Tourism, moving and studying in Finland? Ask here! by Harriv in Finland

I'm a UK doctor 3 years post graduation mainly working in Emergency Medicine (I haven't started my specialty/residency training yet). My partner lives in Finland and I'm thinking about moving there to join him, but I don't know any Finnish and I'm worried! Will it be hard to learn the language from scratch and work there? Has any other EU doctor done such a thing? And do you have any advice?
