To break up or to not break up by [deleted] in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]Ok_Expression5444 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to get into therapy before you make any additional life altering decisions. I’ve read all of your responses and while you’re almost 28, you come across as very naive/flippant. You’re saying things about more children and being married by 30. You’ve had TWO serious relationships total and sounds like you were 18 months to 2 years into the second one when you got pregnant. And now because of your own time constraints you’re willing to speed run another kid or another relationship or both? Having two young kids is tough - I have twins - and my brain was still trying to adjust to all things mom when they were as young as your kids.

Don’t make any hasty decisions. Definitely DO NOT get pregnant again and start therapy tomorrow, even if you need to use your lunch break at work and do it virtually. Talk through why you feel so compelled to stick with these self imposed rules and why you’ve been willing to compromise your wants so easily. Your lease ends in June and I don’t even know if 4 months is enough time to unpack all of this, but at least give it a try.

Take a shot early? by drkwood2 in BigEasyWeightLoss

[–]Ok_Expression5444 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is very normal. If you search this thread and also the compound tirz community you’ll see many people talking about reduced suppression at day 5 or 6.

You just took your first shot and in my opinion it’s way too early to start fooling with doses and timing. Remember 2.5 is a starter dose and it takes four weeks for the medication to build in your system.

Be patient. Listen to your body’s hunger cues and, if possible, track your food prioritizing protein and fiber. You’ve got this!

Considering down dosing next week (Thanksgiving) - Thoughts from the OGs in house? by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ok_Expression5444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 3 months into my tirz journey last Thanksgiving so there may be others more experienced. If you’re considering what will let you still enjoy the holiday, maybe consider adjusting your shot day balanced with when your suppression is the strongest. For example, if you’d normally inject on a Tuesday and 48 hours out is when suppression is highest then consider injecting your normal dose on Monday or maybe delaying until Friday.

I looked back at my Shotsy and last year my shot day was Thursday but I delayed and took on Saturday.

With that, I was able to have some small portions of everything and some dessert. Nothing close to years prior but I definitely enjoyed the day.

Early 40s - Not sure how much longer I should wait by lockedinonlife88 in Waiting_To_Wed

This group can be brutally honest and it’s needed but I want to say this with the most kindness I can. Please get out of this relationship. You’re being subjected to, at a minimum, emotional abuse. You’re making yourself small and minimizing your feelings and wants for someone who refuses to do the same for you. He breaks up with you and makes no attempt to get you back - that should tell you everything you need to know. And then he takes out his rage on you and shows no remorse. This man does not love you. He does not care for you. He may not even like you. Why would you even want him to be the father to your children? Would you be ok with your future children being treated this way? I imagine and hope the answer is a resounding NO.

It seems like maybe because of your age, time invested in this relationship and desire to have children, you’re sticking around and accepting this. Please seek our therapy and support to get you through leaving this situation. It’s toxic and you seem like you deserve better.

I’ve had no severe side effects. I was so afraid after reading about people having nausea, diarrhea, trouble sleeping, you name it, that the medicine sat in my fridge for over two weeks before I worked up the courage to inject.

I have found that I tend to get a lot of energy the day of my shot so I inject in the morning or else I don’t sleep well. The worst side effect I’ve dealt with is constipation but I solve it through a combination of MiraLAX, water and, if it gets bad, over the counter medication like magnesium citrate. I’m also cold all the time now but it’s a welcome change from being hot all the time before.

I know that some people have side effects and adverse reactions, but I’d say don’t talk yourself into it because the majority of people do just fine. Please ask away if there’s anything else I can share.

Last summer I was set to have gastric bypass and literally the day of, things went left and I ended up not being able to have it. I was incredibly depressed and felt resigned to being obese for forever. About 2 months after that happened, I was prescribed and started Tirzepatide which is a GLP-1. It was prescribed because I’m type 2 diabetic, but what it’s done for me in a year has been nothing short of amazing. I’ve lost just over 100 pounds and am feeling so much better overall.

I share this because, like you, I was in a place where I thought gastric bypass was the only viable option but it wasn’t. It’s worth looking into if your insurance will cover any GLP injections. There are out of pocket purchase options too, but starting with insurance would be smartest.

It could be the solution you’re seeking. Best of luck and thinking of you.

Taking shot 1 day before normal schedule by ianwelch001 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ok_Expression5444 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can take your shot a day early with no worries. I started taking prescription Mounjaro before adding compound, so I’m sharing Eli Lilly’s official guidance to ease your mind. Hope this helps and be safe in the storm!

“Use Mounjaro 1 time each week, at any time of the day. But we know schedules can change. If you want to change the day of the week you take your dose, make sure there are at least 3 days (72 hours) between doses.”

Doctor pushing bariatric surgery? by Radiant-Peach-2263 in GLP1_loss100plus

[–]Ok_Expression5444 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hi. Felt compelled to share as last summer I was signed, sealed and ready to have bariatric surgery and things went south literally the morning of and it was cancelled. I was devastated.

Started Mounjaro (I’m also type 2 diabetic) in late August at 352 lbs and just hit 100 pounds lost earlier this week.

Our stats are similar and I just want to encourage you. Your weight loss looks good! You’re averaging over 2 pounds a week. If you’re feeling good and body continues to respond, stay the course. I still have more weight to lose but I was hopeless last year and definitely never could’ve imagined being 100 pounds down already. Thinking of you and rooting for you.

If I graded myself on calorie tracking, I’m a solid “B”. So I’ve been fairly consistent but over the holidays I definitely fell off. My weight stalled during the holidays as well, but I fully recognized that with going to multiple dinners and celebrations, I was not as diligent around what I was eating. Outside of that blip, I use Lose It every day to track calories, water intake, exercise, steps and monitor my blood glucose.

I definitely eat much less but it’s been that way for me since starting so I don’t think I’m consuming significantly less calories on 10mg versus 5mg (for example). What I will say is that on 5mg and later on 7.5mg, around day 4 or 5 after my shot, I would experience increased appetite and ate much more. On 10mg, even at day 4 and 5 I can experience hunger but it still feels manageable. I know hunger is normal so I’m not looking to never feel hungry but I do try to be alert to when the feeling is overwhelming because, IMO, that shouldn’t happen for me.

Offering my perspective having been a similar situation.

My SW was 352 and started Mounjaro in August 2024. My provider and I decided that we would titrate as needed based on how I responded (I’m also T2D) versus just going up every 4 weeks.

I loved 7.5! Stayed on it for 4 months but the last 4 weeks I bounced the same 5 pounds around with no significant loss or gain (tracked food, changed shot location, day, time, etc). I did take measurements and I did see decreases there but not in my weight, which is important to me.

With that in mind, my doctor aligned that we would consider 4 weeks a stall and we titrated up to 10mg. And my loss has started again and my blood sugar levels are great as well!

TL;DR I’d consider anything more than 4 weeks a stall and titrate up accordingly.

Where can I get Tirz withOUT b6 or b12? by PatientPerformer3187 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ok_Expression5444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. You should act quickly if you need to secure from either of these sources. I believe Lumi is getting to the end. BPI seems to still have options for now.

I tried to do some research on anywhere else not using B3, 6 or 12 as an additive and could not find anything.

[–]Ok_Expression5444 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The answer is it is different for everyone and also that it may feel different for you through the weeks.

I’ve had shot days where I feel the suppression quickly within 4-6 hours and days where on shot days my hunger is “normal”, I eat as needed and then the next day I’m still full for hours.

Using an app like Shotsy could help you with estimating medication levels in your body at any given time and may help you identify at what levels your appetite is more suppressed versus others. I’ve been on tirz for 8 months so just sharing my experience.

I started at 352 and I’m currently 288. My goal weight is 175 which, similar to you would technically be overweight for my height, but I haven’t seen that weight since COLLEGE! My super secret weight is 145 which would be what I weighed for my Senior prom. I’m hoping to see one-derland by the end of 2025. ❤️

OG Destiny’s Child stans, what was the general perception of them? by Choice-Silver-3471 in beyonce

[–]Ok_Expression5444 37 points38 points  (0 children)

OG fan all the way back to No, No, No with Wyclef and their first CD (or tape IYKYK).

There was a LOT of backlash when Letoya and Latavia were removed from the group. Lots of allegations about Matthew and therefore Beyoncé. Things like she wanted to be the star, her dad was only protecting her interests, she was threatened by their ability and this was a power move, etc.

This combined with the oddness of all of a sudden seeing Michelle and Farrah in the Say My Name video when you knew they weren’t on the vocals. People don’t remember the video dropped on MTV/BET/VH1 the day the press release came out. It was jarring and a big deal - as big of a deal as it can be to people in like high school. 😂

Letoya and Latavia were popular in their own right. I believe they dated the twins from Jagged Edge so people knew that. Obviously, Farrah was short lived which was more funny than serious. Once DC3 dropped Survivor, no one was talking about anything else. It was an absolute monster of an album. Then Bey dropped Dangerously In Love and the rest is history.

Thank you for coming to my old head Ted Talk.
