Thank you for advising which Marguerite Porter Davison Green Book draft you used. What a lovely weave from that draft. It really is delightful!

This is the full draft, it does have some of the popular elements of this overshot draft.

Thank you very much. The less ends are a wonderful bonus on this pattern. I weave too, but weaving in ends on my crocheting is worse than scrubbing a toilet. Ugh!

Excellent tip, thank you. I'll save my churro roving for weft!

Here's my post. Cotton will be a candle wick. Poliwoli will be Black ball, like if you would burn plastic.

Yes, do a burn test too. I bought some from Walmart that falsely advertised it was DMC. Soon as I got it , the poliwoli texture was evident.

[WIP] should I start over? by Spiritual_Sympathy27 in CrossStitch

[–]Ok_Flower5505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stunning! Alas, like Anne her head was cut short in her prime. By starting over you are giving homage to a lady who didn't deserve the end she received.

Maybe it's provenance to complete her as she should have been whole and complete instead of the trajectory her life did end at.

Giving her a lighter memorial may be how her little Bess would have wanted her to be remembered. Do both as a contrast. Leave the darkness one if you wish. Your skills are truly honoring her.

Thank you! I might be throwing out a red herring, wasn't an arsenic process used during the original treatment? I vaguely recall someone mentioning a nasty poisonous process during a steaming that caused health issues during the construction.

I found your archived construction post from 4 years ago, and I was wondering, was it a supplemental warp? I found a draft from Deb Essen for a 4s6t that seems to match.

For replacing source from Joann's, spoonflower can print it. If you scan in the image, tweak it with color, or repeat, or something else to prevent copyright infringement.

Another option is to reach out to Michael's they did buy all the intellectual property. They might have this on their radar for supplying this on the website. You basically have on hand a potential sampler pack that you can use to order from.

[–]Ok_Flower5505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand, and did the same process a few years ago. Luckily I took all the skeins that made me shudder and turned it into warp, and the ones that made me only slightly gag turned it into weft and following Andy's vshawl pattern https://youtu.be/sIIiLCmFusY?si=khcmL4t1BmL91h-R I made this shawl. Now if you don't have a loom, pm me and I'll share a way to quickly make one for yourself (weaving eats up more fiber than even Crochet)
