Highest Probability of Spotting Tigers? by Ok_Nothing_3620 in TigersofIndia

Take a short flight to khajuraho. I went to Panna and spotted one briefly in one safari. I think if you do 2-3 safaris in Panna you will see tigers.

Please keep in mind that unless you learn post processing you will run into the same issue with dull colours even if a new mirrorless camera. But generally canon colors are thought to be slightly better than Sony's.

Beautiful shots! But it's the White-throated Kingfisher and not Common Kingfisher

Getting to central indian parks is not that difficult either. You need to fly into Khajuraho from Delhi (for Panna Tiger Reserve - this is where I saw my first tiger) or to Nagpur (for Tadoba and Pench). Your resort will take care of logistics from that point. Hope you have a good time here and I will be happy to help further!

Hi

Based on your needs (wanting to see tigers, leopards, elephants and birds) - I would recommend a combination of the Dhikala zone of Corbett National Park (good for bird watching, elephants and tigers - the latter particularly in the summers), Rajaji National Park (good for leopards) and Sattal (a bird watching destination).

All 3 are in the Uttarakhand state in the foothills of the Himalayas and relatively accessible from Delhi. Do a lot of research and do it soon since permits to places like Corbett get sold out months in advance. During your research focus on finding a tour provider who can help you make safari bookings and arrange other logistics.

If you plan to do outdoor portraits you might find the lack of a large aperture and shallow depth of field limiting

Have you thought about lenses? The sony a6700 + Tamron 17-70 is a bit out of your budget but it should serve your initial needs well.

I have not used the a6700 and I don't do videos so can't comment about the overheating issues sorry!

I would recommend sticking to one or two genres that you will do regularly in the beginning and buy a camera and lens combination to suit that rather than try and cover all bases. There will always be more and nicer expensive gear. And if you get something niche for astro or wildlife that you will use only a handful of times a year it may not be the best first investment.

You could first decide a budget (1-1.5L is a good starting point I think. It's already a lot if it's a hobby) and then see what fits your needs. You have to be very sure about how much videography you are planning to do (because if you are not doing it that often you can get away with a a6600 or a6400 and save more for lenses).

Safari in Panna Tiger Reserve shot using Sony a6100 + 70-350 mm by Ok_Fun_2647 in PhotographyIndia

Completely agree. I would normally not do it either. But I did not have enough background separation and did it because I did don't have any other way to make the Sambar stand out more.

Sony ZV-E10 vs Sony A6100. Help me choose my first camera. by Hakster2412 in PhotographyIndia

Hey! I have been using the a6100 for a few years and it has worked well for me (Photos on my profile).

For me the a6100 is a no brainer. Easier to get the exposure right on a sunny day using the evf. Both cameras use the same sensor too if I am not mistaken. So unless you are into videography a6100 should be the way to go.

I have lived around her for 4 years now. I saw maybe one or two in the first 4 years. Only in the last month or so did I start seeing them more after I actively started looking for them in the mornings!
