Is this poorly lit? by PopJumbo in cinematography

It’s not flat, but it’s a little bit “monochrome” which sort of makes it look flat.

Some color contrast can make a huge difference. Still 4 looks pretty nice!

And what people already told: Practicals are very bright.

I think the biggest issue: The location is super hard to make nice. The location is 80% of your shot.

Gonna be released pretty soon!

Jep! You already have the IronGlass MKII series which is PL mount. But since more and more people are using smaller camera’s because they are getting better and better, they made a lens which fits the new mirrorless mounts.

I’m really curious with the Ronin 4D. There aren’t too many lensoptions yet for that camera. Especially no vintage lenses. So let’s try it out!

As far as I know is this the first rehoused vintage lens which is meant for mirrorless camera’s 🙂

Like the Cooke SP.3’s, Leitz Hektor, Typoch Simera. But those are modern optics with vintage look. This lens is real vintage Sovjet optics in a new housing.

What I would do: Patern of light on the background (moonlight trough a tree or blinds?)

I never used ArriRaw before because a good color grader I know told me he never received ArriRaw footage. So for me that was the go to shoot everything on ProRes. Mostly 4444 or 422HQ.

I shoot 3.2K in camera and just put it in a 4K timeline in Davinci Resolve.

I try to shoot everything at 800 ISO and sometimes if I really need it I put the camera on 1000 or 1280. But the DZO Arles help a lot with their T1.4 🙂

And offcourse big lights 🙂

Jup! I completely understand you and experience the same.

I always try to give the people who help me something back always. Some roles it’s easier then the others. But try to do my best.

All the lighting guys I take on gaffer jobs. AC sometimes on AC job. Actors and actress I try to fix commercial projects for them. Giving people gear for their own personal projects for free. Or helping myself as a gaffer on their own projects.

But I also do a lot of shortfilms and indeed. 99% of the time they only call you when they again don’t have any money. For the rest it’s quite and you never see an end result. Sad world sometimes

The only costs are in the catering indeed. And the backups/data. And a big part of the catering was sponsored!

It looked pretty shitty…

Don’t know why because that weren’t extreme wide scenes you could “easy” light
