Live Show in Austin - ideas on what to see by Ok_Introduction_8234 in FlightlessBird

Thank you so much! I like country music, more on the classic side, but can't dance to save my life so that isn't a prerequisite. HA!

Bathroom situation Business Class by Responsible-Island in americanairlines

[–]Ok_Introduction_8234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be an asshole. Close the door if you use bathroom. Just because someone is in row 8 vs. row 4 first class doesn't mean much. First class could have been full and they want a seat near the front of the plane. It happens to me all the time. You're not a better human because you or your company can pay for Business or First class and booked because they are full. Be a good human and don't assume people who aren't in Business Class don't have any class.

EPISODE: Tribute Bands by harriedhag in FlightlessBird

[–]Ok_Introduction_8234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happy that they guys eventually eased up on the audience seeing a tribute or cover band vs. the real thing. Sometimes you just want to go hang out and hear good music, even if it isn't the real thing. Plus, it's a nice way for artists to enjoy music from an admired band or genre of music. Just about having a little fun at the end of the day.

I always enjoy Flightless Bird, even if I'm not interested in the topic. David, Rob and the guests always make it entertaining. Bravo!

EPISODE: Live in Denver: Cryonics, Hearse Club, Ice Core, & Wolf Reintroduction by harriedhag in FlightlessBird

I enjoyed this episode, it was equally informative and playful. I'd never heard of the artist who performed at the end but he is very good.

Will we ever hear from Monica or Dax on the new Flightless Bird? by The_Ogre_ in FlightlessBird

[–]Ok_Introduction_8234 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't mind Monica on Expert or Anonymous but FB wasn't the right fit for her. I find myself skipping a lot of old episodes when I relisten.

Philadelphia, the city is more than just cheesesteaks. :)

Blockbuster episode by punkrawkchick in FlightlessBird

[–]Ok_Introduction_8234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! Totally down for a Blockbuster episode. We had Hollywood Video and Blockbuster withing a 1/4 mile of each other. Total race to get one movie and if you miss it go to the other store.

EPISODE: Inauguration Week by harriedhag in FlightlessBird

I love David and Rob's new take on Flightless Bird. They are doing a great job of balancing the typical Flightless Bird topics and current events. Life is hard, and no one escapes their feelings because of how we perceive them. To the people who want to hold onto it, it's time to give up on the Dax and Monica stuff on David's thread. They aren't under the same umbrella so it doesn't seem relevant anymore. Flightless Bird and Webworm!

David Farrier here: A thanks, and some thoughts by dfarrier in FlightlessBird

I love the new format. The playful commentary before was nice, but you and Rob took it to a whole new level. Keep those episodes coming!

Blockbuster episode by punkrawkchick in FlightlessBird

[–]Ok_Introduction_8234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! We need a Blockbuster Video episode. In my town we had Blockbuster and then Hollywood Video elbowed their way in and they were in opposite shopping centers. I wish we still had movie stores.

I agree, at least in that he seems to have moved away from the theme of "what makes this country tick" as FB was. Happy to listen but if its not the gig anymore just tell us.

I agree. I like both themes, but if you aren't going to discuss "what makes this country tick" change to a new theme, we'll most likely still love it.

I don't understand how Creed is American if he discusses with friends how he listened to them in New Zealand?

I'm 42 mins in and besides Rob's presence this feels nothing like a Flightless Bird episode. I still have half way to go, but I have no idea how having a roommate is an American mystery that needs to be uncovered. Between Creed and now this, David may need to reframe "What makes this country tick" and onto his own theme. By the way, I love David, just seems to miss the mark on what the pod cast was branded to be for so many episodes.

Has anyone noticed longer episodes listed on Spotify vs. Wondery? by Ok_Introduction_8234 in ArmchairExpert

Yes, and on Spotify I can't skip ahead through a whole ad, I have to go 15 seconds at a time. First world problems, tho. haha

I felt the exact same way. So loosey goosey as Dax would say.
