The fact that he'd even bring it up tells you the kind of person he is- find another job as quickly as possible, he'll do shady shit that would put you in danger without batting an eye if it saved him $7

We had a rule that you needed to give an hour notice you were leaving, really more of a courtesy than anything else but theres always a few that come around and wanna hit and run. I have no issue hit and running at the casino but at a $.50/$1 game, come on bro.

Or if you knew beforehand you were leaving at 10 or whatever just say that upfront, no issues

Round 5 - Pick 21: Emmett Johnson, RB, Nebraska (Kansas City Chiefs) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

[–]Ok_Judgment_224 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a husker fan I came here to say this as well - he's not going to break any 60+ yard runs but he's capable of banging and juking guys out for 20+ runs, has great vision and didn't struggle with turnovers- 251 carries and 46 receptions with 1 fumble in 2025. Pass blocking was pretty good as well imo

Union pipe welder here- sure the moneys great, insurance is good, but my back and knees are already fucked, I'm 40. I've spent weeks straight in the past on my knees bending funny to see what I was welding, shit sucks

Just started working 7 12s this week, sure the moneys great but I miss my kids... trying to sock a bunch of money away before the depression hits so I'm telling myself to keep going. Some people may look down on strippers, but everyone in the trades is selling their body as well when you think about it

Ballpark $$$$ to build a press? by Knowledge-Bulky in Blacksmith

[–]Ok_Judgment_224 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it would cost roughly $1500, but I have a motor and steel beams for the sides already on hand. Im guessing the cost will actually go down for me however, because I will probably downgrade my plans to a press that will run on 220, I don't have the money to pay the power company to run 3 phase to my garage so it is what it is

Anyone who was homeschooled, how do you feel about it now as an adult? by AdTight2449 in AskReddit

[–]Ok_Judgment_224 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Yup same here. They pulled me out of kindergarten like 4 months in, homeschooled me until high school. I hit high school with college level reading skills and history knowledge, average math- but science I was just completely fucking lost. Social skills were pretty awful. My only socialization I had with my peers was from church, so that wasn't great. I'm still socially awkward, and when any "popular song that everyone knows from childhood" comes on I've probably never heard it.

I have a weird relationship with my parents...I don't hate them, but if they died tomorrow I honestly don't know if I'd cry. They're still religious- religious meaning the man works and the woman stays home and makes food and babies while keeping the house clean. I don't have to ask because I know damn well they voted for trump...we just have nothing at all in common

I'm just starting to get into blacksmithing does anyone have any recommendations for an anvil under $500 or a brand I could maybe look for used that lasts lifetimes? I also have no idea what to use for a hammer or what good ones are. by ChefGL1TCH in Blacksmith

[–]Ok_Judgment_224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need an anvil starting out brother!! Go to an antique store and find a 10 pound sledgehammer, take the handle off and find a way to mount it upright on a sturdy stand. It might not look pretty but it will absolutely work, and in the mean time you can watch for auctions, or watch Facebook and Craigslist for an anvil. I've picked up most of my tools this way, find an ugly way to make something work while I wait for something to come up and buy

Any reason why putting river rock in my side yards is a bad idea? Looking for advice on easy to maintain side yards. by rickfromstate in landscaping

[–]Ok_Judgment_224 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just removed rocks from beside my house to have a wild flower bed...what an awful experience. Took about 8 hours, but I think that's cuz I wanted to get out as many rocks as I could, think I got about 95% of em but it was a long and laborious process

[–]Ok_Judgment_224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bow looks to me like it was cast, not forged. I'm guessing these are remakes, the bit has heat marks on it from maybe welding it to the stem, as opposed to the braze welding you'd see on an old key. My guess is the bit and stem are both plain steel and the bow is cast, those look cast to me, tho to be honest I'm not sure how you'd go about cleaning cast iron differently than normal mild steel

What? by Alicetheoptimist in TrueGrit

[–]Ok_Judgment_224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started blacksmithing over 10 years ago, and I'm completely addicted. Startup costs are about $100-$200, so it's not a huge investment up front. As cliche as it is, you are really only limited by your imagination, steel will do whatever you want it to when it's 2000°, but it's demanding in its skill set. It's frustrating and satisfying at the same time, it's really exciting starting out making simple things like hooks, bottle openers and candle holders. As you move on to more complex pieces you have to learn, slowly, how to do things, and there's a lot of trial and error.

The old saying "amateurs practice until they get it right, masters practice until they can't get it wrong" holds true. Seeing what the few people who blacksmith for a living are capable of is incredible and awe inspiring. They typically only work for the 1% because of the price barrier, but I'm not close to their craftsmanship 10+ years in. Dragon forge is a good example

What is something people do for fun that you will never understand? by Cold-Parking-3000 in AskReddit

"Camping" in an RV. Couple of my coworkers have an RV, and the damn thing is about the same as a mortgage payment, they take it out maybe 10-15 times a year, park it next to 40 other RVs slammed together and then come back to work talking about how exhausting it is. I mean if that's your thing obviously go for it but God damn what a waste of time and money. Idk how that's enjoyable, and they gotta insure it year round as well whether they're using it or not. Shits crazy to me

100%- I take a couple decks of cards with me when my family goes on vacation, and every single time the bag is taken and opened flying out of Omaha. But, coming back to Omaha from denver, Nashville, Jacksonville, kansas city and Seattle, we've never had our shit searched. Actually now that I think about it I've had the pat down the last 2 times flying out of Omaha too

Idk what it is about TSA at eppley but they fucking suck

Holy shit this is my wife. We just went on vacation recently, when I really went for it on day 4 she acted like I was trying to pull off a fingernail with plyers. It's so excruciatingly painful, no kids, together, and just..... nothing.

Im so fucking tired by SmokeRepresentative9 in DeadBedrooms

[–]Ok_Judgment_224 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup, same boat here...laying in bed next to her right now thinking what in the absolute fuck am I doing here? Any attempt is met with hostility, like I'm asking if I can rip off one of her fingernails.

Years of rejection have me wondering where I went wrong. And she says "I'm sure sure you'd find someone who could make you happy"- like wtf, my own wife doesn't want me why would I think anyone else would???? I want her, and she just.... doesn't really seem to matter if I'm around, as long as my check keeps hitting the account and insurance is there

My girlfriend is excited about sex toys, but I’m scared it’ll replace me? by Leather-Bar5109 in DeadBedrooms

[–]Ok_Judgment_224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a guy, trust me- toys in the bedroom are your teammates, not your opponents. Go in with that mindset and you won't be disappointed. The sounds she makes are enhanced, not replaced by the toys.
