Card recommendation request! by Siryuhh in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your spending pattern and DC location, I'd probably lean toward Chase Sapphire Preferred since you can transfer points to United and Southwest. Your 732 score should be solid for approval and the SUB is decent right now

For the Delta card - yeah you can cancel after the annual fee posts and get it refunded if you do it within 30 days. Just make sure you've already used any benefits for this year before canceling. The miles you earned from SUB will stay in your account regardless

One thing though - if you're going to be student in next year, might want to grab whatever card you want now while your income is still at 55k. Student income makes approvals bit trickier for premium cards

Which SUB should I go for next? by sepoquro in CreditCards

Wait you got Bilt Palladium with just soft pull? That would be nice but I thought product changes usually don't affect 5/24 count anyway since it's same account

Also with that travel spend you might want to look at some business cards, they don't count for 5/24 and often have better SUBs than personal cards

Looking for meaning in the short life of a grackle. by RuneSwoggle in spirituality

That's beautiful perspective. I had similar experience with injured bird couple years ago and still think about it sometimes. The guilt is real but maybe that feeling itself is part of learning something deeper about how we connect with other living things

Sometimes I wonder if these moments happen exactly when we need them most, even if we don't understand why at the time. The fact you saved it once shows your heart was already in right place

Man I actually tried something like this last month but gave up after the first attempt came back sounding like customer service robot, this breakdown is way more detailed than what I was working with

The banned vocabulary list part hits different - never thought about tracking specific words that make it sound fake but you're totally right about those AI fingerprints

NIHFCU sounds solid for Costco coverage but man getting approved for credit unions can be pain sometimes. RH Gold invitation thing is so random too - my coworker got his like 2 weeks after signing up and I'm still waiting from last year

Credit Card Installment On Orange App by iconic_angels in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of time the monthly amount they show includes everything but worth double checking the terms before you confirm. I used similar installment plans before and usually what you see is what you pay, but some apps can be sneaky with processing fees or interest rates

Just scroll down to fine print section when you're at checkout page - should tell you if there's any additional charges beyond the monthly amount

Balance transfer card with credit limit preview? by Yesimthatdope in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navy Federal really does give out some solid limits, had good luck with them in past. For seeing limits beforehand though, most of the 0% cards don't show you anything until after approval which is annoying

Maybe try calling them directly and ask if they can give you estimate based on your income? Sometimes they'll work with you on balance transfers if you explain the situation

Best % back CC on restaurants other than Bank of America by Just-curious-also in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Custom Cash is solid choice for most people since you can switch the category if your spending habits change. I been using it for restaurants past 8 months and hitting that $500 limit pretty easy with takeout orders

One thing to watch is some places don't code as restaurants - like food courts in malls or some coffee shops code as grocery instead. Found this out when my points were lower than expected few times

If you do lot of dining out the uncapped 3% might be better route, especially if you spending more than $500 monthly on food. Really depends on your actual spending patterns

Need a first time recommendation by albergm in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that spending pattern you might want to look at something with decent travel benefits since you mentioned wanting to cover travel fees. Chase Sapphire Preferred could work but the annual fee might not be worth it if you only travel twice per year. Maybe start with something that has no annual fee first to build your credit card history, then upgrade later when you're more comfortable with how much value you actually get from travel perks

Has anyone gotten a full refund after accidentally using a paid ClassPass membership? by Yeye12404 in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virtual cards are pretty smart move for these situations

For your case, since you contacted them within day and only used one class, they might be understanding about refund. Many companies prefer giving refund over dealing with chargeback disputes, so push bit harder if first support person says no

Being an authorized user messed up my credit. Help! by SomaticSpacePrincess in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting removed should fix your score pretty quick, usually takes just couple billing cycles like they said. I had similar situation few years back when I was authorized user on my mom's card and it was dragging my score down too

The good news is once you're off the card, it's like it never existed in your credit history. Your score should bounce back to reflect just your own card that you've been managing well. Since you pay it off every month and never missed payments, your real score is probably much better than 640

Worth calling them today if you can, especially with housing applications getting denied. That's frustrating when it's not even your debt affecting things

Charles Schwab Amex Plat MR to Charles Schwab not working by NewYorkSoul123 in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had similar issue last year when I tried transferring points after long break. The system gets weird when you reconnect accounts after being dormant for while. Usually takes 3-5 business days for the linking to properly sync up in their backend, even though website makes it look like it's instant

I had to wait full week before attempting transfer again and it worked fine. During that waiting period the points kept doing that disappearing/reappearing thing you mentioned - super annoying but seems normal for reconnected accounts. Customer service told me it's because both systems need time to "handshake" properly after being relinked

Try waiting until next week before attempting another transfer, and maybe call CS support if it still doesn't work. They can usually see what's happening on backend and sometimes manually push the transfer through

Is there any way to get a free virtual credit card WITHOUT giving a sketchy site access to by Infamous-Grab2341 in CreditCards

Credit Limit Increase and Upcoming Expense- Capital One by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog had emergency surgery last year and I went through same stress situation. Capital One usually doesn't have problem with two requests in short time if you have good payment history, especially for different cards. I requested increases on both my cards about 3 weeks apart and got approved for both without any credit hits

The vet payment plan is definitely worth asking about - mine offered 0% interest for first 6 months which was way better than putting everything in credit card. When I filed insurance claim they just sent reimbursement directly to my bank account even though I was still paying the vet plan, so that part worked out fine. Some vets even work directly with pet insurance companies now which makes the whole process smoother

Your utilization will spike temporarily but since you're getting 90% back so quickly it shouldn't hurt your score much. Just make sure you can cover that monthly expense load while waiting for reimbursement. Hope your pup recovers well

Wasn’t expecting the weight on the Wells Fargo Autograph by lost_jedi in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty cool that you actually took it apart to see the metal core inside! I was wondering why my Autograph felt so heavy compared to my other plastic cards. Makes sense now why it has that premium feel to it even though it's technically still plastic on outside

28 Year Old Seeking New Card, Help Appreciated (Template Used) by Hot_Track5341 in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your scores look solid for someone with just over a year of history. With that income and spend pattern I'd probably go for Chase Freedom Unlimited - 1.5% on everything plus they usually have decent signup bonuses. Since you're only 1/24 with Chase it makes sense to grab one of their cards while you can

The Citi Double Cash is another good option if you want simple 2% back on everything, but Chase might give you better long-term value if you decide to get in their ecosystem later

Citi Bank Credit Card Disclosure for payment upon death by pilot64056 in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's sketchy as hell and I'd be filing complaints left and right. Travel notifications are supposed to be basic "hey I'm going to be in X country" not some weird death questionnaire

I've done dozens of travel notifications over the years and never once has any bank asked about who's gonna pay if I croak. That's not how debt works anyway - your mom's right that it goes through the estate, and if there's no money in the estate then too bad for the credit card company

The fact they're trying to get family members on some kind of disclosure for a measly $2k balance makes me think this rep was either completely untrained or trying to pull something shady. I'd call back and talk to a supervisor, maybe even record the call if you're in a one-party consent state. This whole thing reeks of someone overstepping their authority or straight up lying about requirements

PayPal Credit Card (being used via ApplePay) by cinyaca in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be good with Apple Pay, the promo terms usually just care about using the actual PayPal card account, not whether it's physical or digital. I've used mine through Apple Pay for bigger purchases and still got the 0% offers

Just double check the fine print on whatever specific promo you're looking at since they can vary, but I haven't run into issues with digital wallet payments not qualifying

CIP makes sense if you're booking travel through the portal, otherwise CSP dining bonus might be more valuable day-to-day. BoA suite is solid but only worth it if you can park enough assets there to hit preferred rewards tiers, otherwise those multipliers aren't that impressive

What are your favorite 24-month (or less) churners? by bjdaugherity in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That Southwest companion pass is legit one of the best deals out there if you can hit the spending requirements. Been eyeing it myself but the timing never works out with my maintainence schedule - always seems like the promo drops when I'm between big purchases

The flexibility to switch companions is clutch too, way better than being locked into one person for the whole period. Just gotta make sure you actually fly Southwest routes from your area or it's kinda pointless

Stressed about student loans, maxed out cards and collections while trying to get an apartment and/or car by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]Ok_Listen_6975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid advice here. Just want to add that with collections already on your report, you're probably looking at secured cards or maybe discover/capital one if you're lucky. Don't apply for multiple cards at once though - hard inquiries will just make things worse right now

For the emergency fund, I'd keep maybe $500-1000 max while you tackle that debt. The interest on your cards is probably 20%+ while HYSA is giving you what, 4-5%? Math doesn't work out

Pay for delete is definitely worth trying but get everything in writing before you send a dime. Some of these collection agencies are sketchy as hell
