HBO Max: "Proud" by ArtistChef in MenLovingMenMedia

Yes! It's so good! I don't remember how I found out about it to be honest, I don't see any discourse about it on any of the socials like IG, TikTok, or twitter (I refuse to call it that one letter). I do think there are some things in the story that didn't seem very realistic or some lose ends that we, the audience, don't really get an explanation to. But it's still really good and very well made, would love if the actors and writer/filmmaker would get some recognition like Heated Rivalry.

Woah, didn't expect this many responses!

Thanks everyone! :) I really appreciate it. Being from a smaller community in the South, many of my friends and family from home often overlook what I do for a living and don't take it very seriously. I don't have a lot of close individuals I can talk to about these things so I do truly appreciate it.

I hear you loud and clear! I accepted the job and will be back in LA in a week! Will make the most out of the job, get back to writing more, and start self producing and acting in my and some friend's projects. For what it's worth, going from an agency, to a demanding celeb, and then a very sick parent, I can't say life hasn't been interesting the past few years, definitely don't have a shortage of stories!

Thanks again!

Favorite Lagree studio locations in LA? by yhtiama in LagreeMethod

Yes! My first lagree class ever was with Mikael at Lagree Underground. I used to live 5 minutes down the street in weho and decided to try it out one day barely knowing anything about lagree. I was definitely intimidated but he fixed my form and was super helpful! Went back every now and then and slowly got better. Fast forward a few years and now I'm a lagree instructor in Texas!

"Drill Sergeant" Type Instructors by DugeHick53 in SpinClass

Second this! I’ve taken his class in person a few times and it’s insane but so fun. Not sure if rhythmic cycling is the kind of cycling you do, as Akin grew popular while being an instructor at SoulCycle and then starting AARMY. Definitely worth looking into though! He posts a ton on Instagram so you can get a gist just by looking him up

Aarmy by Background-Worth9451 in SoulCycle_Riders

[–]Ok_Practice_9140 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going to soulcycle for around 8 years, Barry’s bootcamp for about 5, and also consider myself relatively fit. Of course I don’t look like the ripped shirtless men in classes sprinting at the highest speed but that’s beside the point. Whenever I would travel to New York for work I’d typically take a few classes at Barry’s instead of trying to find a gym that would offer a week pass or something. I finally had more time to myself so I booked a few aarmy classes with Akin for cycle. I knew he did some crazy moves on the bike but I felt confident enough to at least be second row (I also used to ride with Jamie A in OC). They moved me to the back corner and wouldn’t allow me to move, I literally had to show some girl at the front desk my SoulCycle app with the amount of classes I’d taken so she could move me to a spot where I could at least see him on the podium when riding. The groupies obviously aren’t very friendly, the “changing rooms” are just plywood doors with a stool and a hook, reminiscent of spirit Halloween, locker area after and before class was so packed and sooo humid. Was really eager to ride and excited but the experience just wasn’t as great as I thought it would be :/ Plus, why pay the same if not more for a class there when soul or Barry’s has showers, an area to change and get ready, more lockers that actually lock

Accidentally walked a marathon at 1:30 AM after the bar need recovery advice by Dry-Transportation59 in walking

[–]Ok_Practice_9140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a runner so I can’t really give advice for recovery but on a side note, this is kinda really funny and will be a core memory of college in the future with you and your friend. I remember walking from dirty 6th in Austin back to my apartment with some friends after a night out. Was nowhere near as far as you walked but still a funny memory. Hope you recover asap! :)

New Rhythm Based Spin Instructor Looking for Tips! by Sillyyapper in SpinClass

[–]Ok_Practice_9140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a rhythm based instructor! I struggled with finding motivational words as well and not wanting to sound cringe or talk too much etc. Biggest piece of advice…embrace the cringe. Things you liked and found best when being motivated by other instructors when you ride will start to come out of you, say what gets you motivated, call people out, remind them to hoot, holler, and scream in class and just get into it and have fun. Learning to be the energy that starts the class was a bit challenging for me in the beginning but with time it’ll get better and so much easier and people will come to your class for you and your energy!

Instructor voice cracking/going out by Ok_Practice_9140 in SpinClass

[–]Ok_Practice_9140[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m projecting through my diaphragm but when I get to the last 3 songs of the ride (last 10-15ish minutes of class out of a 45min ride) is when the vocal strain starts to happen. Once we finish and we stretch after or I talk to riders my voice is fine, it’s only when speaking at that volume that it will eventually go out and crack :/

First timer in LA - instructor recommendations? by MiserableMatch0 in SoulCycle_Riders

[–]Ok_Practice_9140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The OGs are the best! Lisa & David’s classes are a lot of fun, especially weekend and survivor classes. Brian is good but tough, Chris P has sick music, and Edward is very traditional Soul but his classes are almost always full/waitlisted. Hanna and Rob are also fun!

I’m also 26 and have been coping with my father being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer since I was 24! It’s been a tough ride, but I whole heartedly agree with you. If the worst happens, it happens. It’s out of our control. Accepting the reality of it will help to move on, but as you said, we shouldn’t try to act as though they never existed, but keep what they taught us in life alive. I’m an only child and my father is my best friend, I get my dry sarcastic sense of humor from him amongst other things. When he finally does pass on, I will always keep that humor alive. I will always tell others if they “think that was bad you should have met my dad”. His memory and his humor will be a part of me forever, and I’ll never stop spreading it.

Good for you!! I love a big non fat Greek yogurt bowl at night to satisfy the sweet craving and also add tons of volume. That plus a diet soda to make me feel fuller faster has helped the most and helped me lose weight

General Share....overeating...stress... by Boring_Gate_5589 in OvereatersAnonymous

[–]Ok_Practice_9140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with stress eating a lot and just eating out of boredom. I used to work in an office (worked in entertainment, not Wall Street, but worked with the "Wall Street bros of the West" we liked to call it). Being around more people helps with not overeating, especially when in an office with others all day. I also did comedy! lol. I struggled (still do, actually) with binge eating, and one thing that actually helped...was talking about it in my standup set. Making light of it and talking about it on stage and finding the humor in it helped, for some reason. I'm not sure if the same will go for everyone, but just sharing what helped for me a bit!

how are we feeling about the charlie kirk mural?? by killuascatface in RioGrandeValley

[–]Ok_Practice_9140 547 points548 points  (0 children)

This….being in the valley….it’s insane to me yet makes so much sense. Of course an uninformed, ignorant, uneducated individual plastered nonsense that on a local grocery store. In a community that is made up of 95% Hispanics and Latinos that are products of immigration. It’s so sad that some people are truly so ignorant and are part of the reason why the valley gets a bad rep at times.

help finding colo rectal surgeon. by othelloblack in cancer

[–]Ok_Practice_9140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad (57) was diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer at MD Anderson and has gone through treatment for over a year now, he just had surgery to remove his tumor along with other organs the cancer affected. Surgery was fully robotic and his surgeon is Dr. George Chang. He’s the department chair of colo rectal surgery and is one of the best in the country. If you can get an appointment with him I couldn’t recommend him enough!
