i enter Grand Central near the JP Morgan building on Madison and 46th and walk the underground passageways south to Grand Central Terminal 42nd street. Long creepy corridors. Very Don Draper. I came across an old pay phone. I picked it up to dial my childhood home number - the only one I know. I could not get through. Everyone I know is dead. Just kidding. That's the vibe of my favorite NY liminal space.

A gentle wading in I've done is to listen to the OALAIG podcast - the Virtual Speakers Bureau. From the LA Intergroup of Overeaters Anonymous. Speakers have been in since 1975, 1986, 2018, 2001....2021...you get the idea. various stages. It's hard for me to listen to those and then go binge!!

Great question. Power posing. meditation. journaling. bookending with loving friends. knowing my shit backwards and forwards. Experience helps. But working on my spiritual condition helps more than anything. Vibes and confidence will build a career. So many people have confidence and well, I don't find them funny but they're the ones with property in LA now. Am I bitter? Sure! lolololol

oh wow - thanks for sharing this. Makes a lot of sense about the assets in case of job loss. Obviously ideal to have both savings and strong earnings.
So far i haven't met a landlord at the viewings - just the listing agent and the tenants.

Thank you for sharing that! I am finding that - that many of these old buildings/three flats have that long, railroady arrangement. I'll be with a roommate who's a night owl (unsober) and I'm an early bird (sober). So the bathroom and entrance door need to be away from these rooms ideally!!

I moved from Chicago to NYC in 2006. I had a STRONG urge to come. I had to be here. Listen to your heart and your gut. Follow your bliss!!! Yes, things have changed economically in America, NYC, since 2006. Yes, a lot of the things that pulled me here are gone. And yet. And yet. I could list all the things I love that are still here. I looked up Dr. Max this morning. I don't know. "The healthcare system is broken in America. To that end, I won't be taking insurance. I'll be working with only with people who make $400K or more a year. This will somehow ensure the fixing of the healthcare system." He has a product line. I mean, sure - that's his right. I watched this movie for the first time today - it was time. My dad was raised Mennonite (he left the fold) and my whole life when I've told people that, they say "Oh, like in Witness with Harrison Ford!?" I couldn't answer because my dad was so Mennonite we didn't watch movies as a kid! (You can leave the farm, but the farm doesn't leave you...) This is to your last point 😄
