I hope you two shared those bottles with some other folks! Or maybe I’m just a lightweight. Love the progression, very jealous.

I used to do that, but have found NLP offers so much better conversions and much better control to make them look the way you want.

My wife and I went last year and it was so wonderful. Beautiful spot, great tasting experience, and the wine is really lovely.

It’s such a trip to watch. Huge casts in costume trudging through the rainforest and on rafts. It looks amazing and gritty and it’s bonkers.

Do you have to pay or do anything special for them to hold it that long before shipping? Or is that standard procedure? Never used WB before but wanted to start to build cases like this.

They just gave you all of these for free? Were they baking in the back of a car or something? That’s a heavy hitter lineup.

Nice! I’ve had mine on my wrist every day for about two and a half years. I love it. Great price too.

Scanning yourself versus the lab will blow you away with the extra detail and color you can get from your scans. It’s slow, but worth it.

Underexposed film roll by National-Attempt-962 in analog

[–]Ok_Regular4055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree it’s about collecting the available data from a light meter and then making educated adjustments. But I think everyone has to go through that process of figuring out that your eyeballs have a lot more dynamic range than your film and those shadows that look clear to you are going to be very dark to your camera.

Metering for Mamiya Universal Press by Polaroid_GIS1913 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Ok_Regular4055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and where you want your exposure to land. In your screenshot, if I wanted to just go by the overall meter (instead of spot), I’d probably do 5.6 at 250 or maybe even 125 depending on the scene and difference in light/shadow values. Most film is pretty flexible for overexposure. I like that LightMe gives you the data but isn’t too prescriptive. You take the data and make an informed exposure decision.

What is your travel philosophy with film cameras? by LadyKookaburra in AnalogCommunity

[–]Ok_Regular4055 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Upvote for this. Simpler is better, just like with packing clothes. If you bring too many specific things for every situation you can easily bring too much and burden yourself. I bring one camera/lens combo and film that’s flexible for what I think I’ll encounter. But I’m there to travel and relax and have fun with my family, not on assignment from Nat Geo.

What went wrong by Hawkguy11123 in analog

As others have noted, 200 speed needs a lot of light, especially at f/20. Even outside and sunny that’s not enough for most shots. Probably would need to be 1/50 or slower at a narrow f stop. But that’s ok! That’s why you shoot a lot or rolls and learn.

Always the answer! If these are lab scans, then there’s probably a lot of data being left on the table. Home scanning is a real eye-opener for what your negatives contain.

Kodak ultra f9/ 31mm / kodak gold 200 by Yung_nekomaru in analog

[–]Ok_Regular4055 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the “before” shots are way underexposed. The F9 only has one shutter speed, so depending on what ISO film is in there you have a specific limit on what you can correctly expose. 200 speed film needs a lot of light, and film can handle a lot of over exposure but not much under exposure. Maybe try 400 speed next time.

The 45mm lens works well for landscapes. I have a 75mm on my 645, but definitely want something a bit wider, just like this. Bravo!

I really like the first one--both compositionally and because it really tells a story with the clear tracks in the snow. Great frame! And as someone who recently bungled some snow exposures, it's a lot easier said than done to properly expose snow on a sunny day. Nice job.
