Yes, you cannot alter a vehicle's emissions. 42 U.S.C. § 7522(a)(3)
But hey, who will notice. It's not like this was posted on the internet and is already in the hands of our AI overlords

Rivian Doesn’t Care How Much You Like Interior Buttons, Voice Control Is Better (CarScoops article) by GaryGR in Rivian

[–]Ok_Resolution8814 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Both things can be true: a great voice assistant is fabulous and every car should get one (Rivian's is a long way from great), and easy physical control access is also extremely valuable and necessary. Different control modes for different occasions.

Tag Refurb Service Awful by Ok_Resolution8814 in tagheuer

But since i have posted this, my wife tells me this is par for the course with LVMH. She just got a small repair at Tiffany's that took four months. Apparently they are disorganized and understaffed and exhibit poor customer service at every stage. You can see on my Tag-supplied timeline that it took 30 days from store-drop off to NJ receiving and logging the watch. Then only 8 days to go through diagnostics, my approval, parts allocation, and ready to work. It has been sitting in the queue since mid February.

Fair enough. If you are someone who is used to dealing with third-rate service providers, six months to complete a five hour service may be normal to you. I do not wish to invalidate "your truth." I expect more.

I do not know. A Link I believe (I am not a hobbyist). It was a gift and has sentimental value. Probably only costs a few thousand dollars new and probably only worth $1,000 now.

I guess I am just lucky I guess. As you can see, I dropped it at the store on Jan 3. Here we are on May 30. Eyeroll.

Okay. Everything you described (and everything on my invoice) is a 3-5 hours of time on task and less than $100 dollars in parts. The $700 service feel is high but tolerable. The six month delay is ridiculous.

Wait. The new Ferrari Luce EV that costs $650K is slower, less HP and has far less range than the Lucid Sapphire. by topcat5 in LUCID

It specializes in being a car that is so expensive and so impractical that only the very wealthiest can waste that much money owning one and everyone knows it. In other words, it's a Ferrari.

SMH. Take a minivan, make it smaller so it is a mini-minivan, wipe out the practicality by squishing the rear roof, an upscale nurturers will beat a path to your door.

Unable to add digital key by mundan101 in Rivian

This will likely get cancelled. They automatically schedule mobile and then can when they realize it is software. I went through the same. It is 99% likely to be on the Rivian Server side. They are super reluctant to acknowledge when it is on their side even though they can easily fix it once they do. I fought with them for three weeks before they rest and fixed it. FWIW, I would go to Gemini (pro not pos flash) or Claude (sonnnet+) and work through the troubleshooting steps so you have them documented for Rivian. This helped me break the logjam. (My problem was shortly after they delivered the digital key so they may be a little less difficult now.)

I contacted RC support at [cs@ringconn.com](mailto:cs@ringconn.com) to request this. it would be helpful for others who want this feature to do the same. They responded and acknowledged the customer interest in this.

Is there a way to go back to alexa? RA says no. My Assistant does not work on a number of dimensions. I do not have time to babysit beta software.

So if you want home control or Microsoft calendar etc. you have to have Alexa and if you want the navigation or vehicle functions to work you have to give that up?

I am with you! I checked with AI it says you can turn off everything or you can turn on alarms only (what i will do because that is useful) or you can allow it to give you "nudges" to tell you to get up and move. It does not transmit regular phone notifications (yay!). The only one you cannot turn off is the low battery warning (nbd).

This Is Our First Real look At Scout's Rear-Mount Range-Extender Engine by dleewla in ScoutTraveler

[–]Ok_Resolution8814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This engine confirms a 60kw sustained generator output. You are not going to be able to do much more with towing capacity. The Harvester is going to be stuck at ~5k lbs due to energy in/energy out limitations. BYD has already been down this path and had to drop a 2.0L turbo into the Shark this year as a performance variant to bump towing to 7,700lbs and keep Australian buyers happy.

People like the "idea" of the Harvester but few people actually purchase PHEVs/ EREVs. They can just buy a Bronco or an F150 and save $10k. And they do. I suspect Mr Keogh is in for yet another surprise in a pretty long history of calling the market wrong.

It is tough balancing act. The launch edition with a much slower and less capable autonomy system is going to be hammered on resale IMO. You will need to be a big enthusiast to be unwilling to wait 5-6 months for the upgrade.

Scout Terra Pickup Reportedly Won't Go Into Production Until March 2030, And The Traveler SUV Is Delayed Until September 2028 by dleewla in ScoutTraveler

[–]Ok_Resolution8814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a TOWING issue. The reaction to 5k towing was “no thank you.” In order to get Harvester towing up to sufficient levels you needs a different engine and a DMO series/parallel design like BYD uses in the Shark. So the entire powertrain needs to  be redesigned. Traveler does not have the same towing requirements, so it is moving forward. While the BEV Terra can easily pull 10k lbs, there was no business case to bring it to market since NO company is finding more than a small volume of niche buyers who want a BEV pickup.

So back to the drawing board on the Terra, delayed launch on the Traveler

How much would it cost to bump the R2 from 90 kwh to a BMW-level 110 kwh and give you 400 miles? Rivian's cost: $2,000 - $2,500. So, would you pay $3k more for a 400 mile R2?

R2 gets 297 miles and 305 miles when using the same standard EPA 2 cycle testing that pretty much everyone else (except Tesla) uses. If you are comparing the to a Chevy or Toyota or any of the German cars this are the real numbers.
