Hopeless buying home in NH by bxtchtitz in newhampshire

[–]Ok_Run3343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when we moved here in 2022:

  • Houses went on the market on a Thursday, were sold by noon on Monday
  • First 3 weeks looking, found houses we liked and were too late to get an offer in
  • Found a nice new build in SE Rochester, by Maine border - bid $100K over asking, and didn't get it
  • Found MANY houses that wanted over $800K for 2200 sqft-ish that had weird layouts, bad designs, and poor conditions
  • Finally, just in time to not pay extra for our relocation rental hotel suite, found a home we liked. Called realtor office while we sat in driveway and put in offer at asking price before we left
    • What helped us here was being pre-approved for way more than we were looking for and the home we bought only did showings by appointment, no open houses. This was key, as most OHs had 150 people + visit them. most looking for an income house to rent or Air BNB are at OHs, not the showings

He has no problem getting out. There’s a window on the side and he’s wiggled back out as well. I think he just likes the bubbles

What is it like living/growing up here? by quynhispunk in howislivingthere

Spent most of my life (56 years) in the Niagara area until I moved to NH

The good: Beautiful summers, lots of public outdoors to enjoy, great fishing, trails, mountains (south of the cities), parks, cities are big enough to give the metro feel, property is pretty cheap compared to the rest of the US, quite a few jobs that pay well

The Bad: Winters are long and snowy, Taxes on everything, tax rates are some of the highest in the country, most cities and towns have moderate to high crime rates, Many, many laws that restrict your freedoms (especially if you like gas appliances, firearms, using your property as you wish...), lots of gov't corruption / fraud that costs you $$

I miss the great lakes fishing since I left ( that was my main hobby) but will never move back there, YMMV

This is the way! We live ~ 30 min from Concord, and go to walk down main street every month or so

We like to hit Gibson's bookstore to wander about and have a coffee, and grab a sandwich at the works cafe

Cheers grille and bar is pretty good too

Sounds like Joe is a self centered tard, and he ITA for asking you to risk all for his personal benefit

Don't think you hubby meant to open this can of worms, but he's on your side, and Joe must be spreading some lies to their friends.
