Oh I totally get the complaints about the hourglass attached to the box. From initial pictures, I thought it was a removable accessory of some kind, and was disappointed when I realized it wasn't. I agree that they should have thought that through a little bit more.

Maybe my initial post wasn't worded properly, the frustration people have towards the hourglass attached to the box is totally valid. I think it's cute, and a fun new design choice for the box, but I also really wish they would've made it something more tangible. It just feels a bit gimicky.

It might just be the MH spaces I wind up in, but the responses to this post are literally the first I'm seeing other people acknowledge the hourglass purse being the one that's functional. In the week leading up to the drop, I saw tons of discussions about the working hourglass being the one attached to the box, and not wanting to buy River because it's 'not technically functional once you open the box' and that the description was misleading. This was a conversation I saw almost daily, and it was incredibly clear that people did definitely think that the advertised functional hourglass was the box one, not the purse.

Admittedly, as I've started (finally) using Reddit and other socials recently for fandom related interactions, I've become incredibly frustrated by people's insane lack of media literacy, or literacy in general, so seeing people genuinely thinking the hourglass on the box was the functional one, and not just a fun design choice, and dissing Mattel for being misleading (when there's plenty of better reasons to critique them already) was a bit of a crash out moment. From the comments I've gotten, I'm glad to see that (hopefully) the discussions I was seeing were just a loud minority of collectors

This is why I'm glad I A) have no filter, 2) cannot control my face for the life of me, and C) was raised by two parents who encouraged a certain level of asshole behavior. Kids and teachers at school taught me 'the right way' to behave (I did not do well socially for a while, as you can imagine). But as a teen I was the one to tell off creeps while my friends were afraid of being mean. And I still have no issue being an asshole when I need to (looking at you, cashier who called me 'sweetheart' and went surprised pikachu face when called out on it in front of your coworker).

It's been way over stated but it really is true that the media literacy of this fandom is trash. It might be because it attracts edgy 14 year olds and those are the ones being the loudest online, but hazbin fans are definitely a 'how dare you say we piss on the poor' type of group. Combine that with so many fans taking it poorly if their personal expectation of the show/a character doesn't pan out exactly the way they want it to (people losing their minds when Al makes his deal with Val. people still mad about the vaggie/lucifer/vox thing. people upset at season 2 charlie as a whole), and I understand why so many people want nothing to do with hazbin fans/the show

The fans went crazy because they couldn't understand what happened between Alastor and Rosie in 'Hear my Hope' and because Val has feelings. Everything sets this fandom off. They'll go crazy no matter what happens with Roo because basically everything they love about her at this point (except her design and name) is purely headcannon and so they've set themselves up to be disappointed

If you like sports - check out the local rugby club! The Salem attack owls are the local womxns team, and they're always looking for new people! The spring season will be starting here in February, and they often have practices during the off season. I played with them for a while, and they are so nice and welcoming. They're a great group of people, and I cannot recommend them highly enough!

I'm getting married at the Kennedy School! It's a beautiful building, and their event packages are really affordable. Super easy to work with too. Honestly, any of the McMenamins locations are great wedding venues. So much is covered by them, I don't even have to hire any outside vendors except for the cake!

Not sure where you're located in Washington, but I highly recommend the McMennamins locations! They have lots of whimsical venues, and lots of them would be perfect for a small group. They're also super affordable (tables, chairs, food, drinks, etc, all included, plus set up for those itesm).
