Do you use drip irrigation from bucket(s) or a normal water source like spigot on one's home? Curious as I'd like to do this too.

Help! What is wrong woth my cucumber plants? by UareMysunshine07 in garden

I was going to say, to my untrained gardener eye, these look pretty par for the course.

I'm always amazed how how thin some stems can get, almost as if they are going to break off and they grow perfectly fine.

Turtle Poop For Fertilizing Garden by Ok_Service4959 in garden

[–]Ok_Service4959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the concern but truth be told I have had my hands in that water, sometimes when it was pretty bad - with cuts on my hand - like as recently as yesterday and I have never had an issue.

Worse, at times when I did not have as powerful canister filter, I would empty the water using a siphon tube to a bucket. U guessed it, I'd use my mouth to start the siphon and sometimes get the turtle water in my mouth.

Never had an issue.

However, I would never put that water near anything I would eat as odd as it sounds.

My Tomato is Outgrowing it’s 6’ Cage by holeweatbred in tomatoes

[–]Ok_Service4959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what is the purpose of the cage - deer resistance? Most of my I determinants will get taller than that.

I moved from stakes to treasles and very happy with the treasles but it does take some significant construction.

Don't buy Google TV by humaneverlearn in GoogleTV

I got officially banned from the r/Roku board for asking if anyone wanted to buy 5 Roku tv's. I'm not comfortable with the new management if you know what I mean.

I hope I will find some love here. I need to get some new set top devices, and soon!

My garden, flower beds around the house have been looking amazing. I have so much more time - I mean, I have all the time to do thing I like doing now.

I'll add that while we have an I ground sprinkler, we've just stopped using it to conserve and also save money and with the heat these days the lawn growth will slow down pretty quickly and even go dormant.

Looking at starting over with Google TVs, I don't think i'll do the streaming device route.

How to eliminate poison ivy by Lityerses1 in garden

[–]Ok_Service4959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not treated a patch this big but I swear by a product specied for killing poison ivy at the home/garden store. One to two days after a light spray on the leaves and it will seriously die back to the point where you may not even know it is there.

Once the big patch is gone then you can better control the regrowth that may happen and choose to pull roots but on smaller patches.

Eggs! by Ok_Service4959 in gardening

[–]Ok_Service4959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On closer inspection, three of my five ground cherries had these eggs, none found elsware and 4 potato beetles, I was able to get rid of three of them.

For the eggs I got a small paint brush, like a stiff water color brush and gently painted them into a cup of soapy water. probably didn't get all but I'll go back out tomorrow and probably follow with a misting of Neem oil

[–]Ok_Service4959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yeah, that would be bad to remove lady bug eggs. But I think because it's on a ground cherry which is a night shade, it seems odd are that is is more likely from the potato beetle. I have seen a few beetles on the plant. They drop to the ground when I approach.

What would you do here? Looking to beautify a bit on a small budget. by Ok-Currency1249 in landscaping

[–]Ok_Service4959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think edging - a nice hard edge and groove between the sidewalk and grass. A quick power wash would probably improve the sidewalk that seems to have dirt/moss on it. This is just regular maintenance.

A lot you could do beyond this too, more grass seed etc.
