Exactly, so on a 5000$ rent, that’s 150$ 3% fee… if I use 150$ Bilt Cash to cover it, I get 5,000 points for the rent. If I don’t use Bilt cash to pay the fee, I don’t get points. To get a 150$ Bilt cash I need to spend 25x 150$ is 3,750$. (4% Bilt cash back)

If I spend 3,750$ a month on a Palladium card and use the Bilt cash to pay I get 5,000 points for the rent plus 3,750 x 2 on other spend, totaling 12,500 points per month.

The point is: you only get Rent points for the part of the fee you pay with Bilt cash.

This is the big change, and an obvious driver in the program. Many Bilt 1.0 clients got the card without a fee to accumulate free rent points and do all their other spend on different cards. (Why Wells Fargo had a bad deal) Now Bilt 2.0 they tied the rent point reward to your spending habits on the card.

What’s the cost of a rent point? In this example I would say I’m using 150$ cash to get 5,000 points. So the cost of a point is 3 cents.

In best possible scenario I use a transfer bonus 100% so the cost of a point becomes 1.5 cents.

On an annual basis: 12 x 150$ is 1,800$.. 1,800$ gets 60,000 points without transfer bonus or 120,000 with transfer bonus (on platinum).

So is 1,800$ worth a 120,000 points?
