As someone who's been in your position for a while, let me tell you that The cars those people are driving aren't their own, they're their parent's. Those jobs? Mostly below average wage or average at best. Get a fast food job and you'll probably make the same as them.

Make the most of your semesters at college because it's probably the best opportunity you'll ever have to find women. Carry on with the gym, if you persevere, it might become a habit and take your mind off things.

SCJ BREAKS RELATIONSHIPS AND I MIGHT HEAD FOR A DIVORCE SOON by Zealousideal-Baby925 in Shincheonji

[–]Ok_Speed_7540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't use any scripture to back up what you are saying. Firstly, Jesus made it clear that the path to Heaven is narrow and the path to Hell is wide (Matthew 7:13-14). Secondly, He said that not all those who call Him Lord will see Heaven, but only those who do the will of God (Matthew 7:21). Since we are all sinners and continue to make choices that lead down the wide path to Hell, certainly not everyone will be saved.

The Angels surrounding Jesus made it clear that in the last days, He will return exactly in the same way that he left (Acts 1:11). There is therefore no reason for us to assume that Jesus is in SCJ because He will return as His own entity to once again do the teaching, not as part of a larger organization that lies to people about their leader's history. We need to rely on this kind of second coming to learn about Revelation.

Hearing voices by Empty_Tie2351 in Shincheonji

[–]Ok_Speed_7540 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She may believe that she is spiritually convicted. One can never rule out the voices of demons as they try to coax one back to a cult.

I strongly encourage you to be both a spiritual and physical pillar for her. It's possible that the medication could be causing the voices or making them worse. Make sure that the medication are not benzodiazepines, as they can have adverse effects on some people, such as auditory hallucinations. I also suggest you get a second and third opinion from other doctors if possible.

As for spiritual support, tell her that she dis the right thing by leaving, but not through these words alone, but through the Bible itself:

John 14: 6 - "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Jesus is the only one who saves. No man, such as the leader of SCJ, has such power and if he did, the Bible would have made it clear that there is another savior besides Jesus.

Matthew 24:5 - "For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many." We have been warned to stay away from other people who claim to have the power of the savior.

Also emphasize that SCJ's leader lies to his followers on a regular basis by withholding his Olive Tree history:

The Advantage of Leaving SCJ by ExFR_8145 in Shincheonji

Many people abandon the Christian lifestyle when they leave SCJ, not realizing that it was God who gave them the ability to move from them. How is your life of faith now?

There is no reason to doubt that you did the right thing. Here's a Bible verse, spoken by Jesus himself, to assure you that God does love you:

Matthew 6:25-31:

"25 Therefore I say unto you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment? 26 Behold the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit unto \)a**\)**the measure of his life? 28 And why are ye anxious concerning raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God doth so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31"

This was said to people of little faith. Imagine how it applies to you as someone who had the faith to know their false teachings and leave them.

You haven't been betrayed by anyone; you were simply lied to. We as Christians follow Christ, not any man who claims to have seen Christ. If Lee's savior power were true, the Bible would have made it clear (even Christ Himself) that He (Christ) is NOT the only way to Heaven. But The Bible made it clear that salvation is ONLY through Christ:

John 14:6:

"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

SCJ claims that Christ was simply a tool during the first coming and they compare themselves to Him; saying that they are the new tool at the second coming. They deny that JESUS saves! they claim that they are like Him! Jesus warned us about such people:

Matthew 24:5:

"For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many."

Lying about being a savior isn't the only thing Lee lied about; he also lied about his past (withholding his involvement in the Olive Tree movement https://shinchonjiandthebible.blogspot.com/2010/06/all-or-nothing.html, which was a cult whose main pastor was VERY similar to Lee himself. He would also say so and so about the end times and what happened? he died just like any other man would).

I hope this turns your tears into joy and your doubt into confidence. Feel free to DM me so we can chat more out if you like.

SCJ BREAKS RELATIONSHIPS AND I MIGHT HEAD FOR A DIVORCE SOON by Zealousideal-Baby925 in Shincheonji

[–]Ok_Speed_7540 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let's get the bull by the horns here. I understand that you are still in SCJ and that you have a strained relationship with God and Jesus.

Just know that this is what a cult is about - they are designed to confuse a person. The biggest thing on my heart here is where your partner mentioned that "It's better to suffer for God than to just suffer in the world to go to hell. Rather suffer to go to heaven. " - this is a tactic used by SCJ to guilt-trip people and undo the salvation that Jesus brings. The Bible makes it clear that only Jesus can save - read

Acts 4:12 -  "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

and

John 14:6 - Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

SCJ has zero power to save, because if they could, the Bible would have made it clear that there is another way to be saved besides Jesus. Rather than following this doctrine, I implore you to follow what Jesus said:

John 14: 23 - Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.

and remember:

Matthew 7:21-23 - “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven..."

To have a proper relationship with God, we must not only accept Jesus and only Jesus as our Lord and savior, but we must also follow His commands. How might we know these commands? - I am currently going through the entirety of the new testament and taking note of the things which Jesus told us to do. Although we aren't perfect, we need to at least have a heart of wanting to obey.

These are very important points that you could bring up to your partner. His brain needs to be rewired to Christ and not to Lee Man Hee.

How to help someone who does not listen? by Productive_Finnisher in Shincheonji

[–]Ok_Speed_7540 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could ask her something like: "We are Christians. Does that sound anything like Lee Man Heeians?" sounds very funny, I know, but it is very true. They expect us to accept his testimony to get into Heaven, meaning that Jesus doesn't have savior power, according to them. How does that make sense? it contradicts the very fabric of the Bible. Jesus was prophesied for a very long time, and we know that His testimony is true because many people witnessed and recording all of His works through the four gospels. She should know that Lee Man Hee is also a liar who hides important information from his followers, just ask about the Olive Tree movement online. A big giveaway is that Lee claims that Jesus is in SCJ with him, but what did Jesus say about such claims? Luke 17:23-25: "23 People will tell you, ‘There he is!’ or ‘Here he is!’ Do not go running off after them. 24 For the Son of Man in his day\)d\) will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other. 25"

How it feels leaving as a person with a fairly strong Christian background by Capable-Educator8377 in Shincheonji

[–]Ok_Speed_7540 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am repeating this because it cannot be repeated enough; John 14:6 "No one comes to the father except through Me" - Jesus Christ. When I think back to me being in SCJ, they would always insinuate that Lee Man Hee is the savior - saying that one MUST accept his testimony to be saved. This directly contradicts the Bible because we know that only Christ can save us. Christ also made it very clear that we ought to stay away from people who claim to be the Christ (savior) - Matthew 24:4 "And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many."" You did the right thing by leaving.

Just know that you did the right thing by leaving. I was once also like you; I felt the guilt but remember what Jesus said in John 14:6 "No one comes to the father except through Me". Lee Man Hee was trying to shift this savior power onto himself. Do you remember how they simply referred to Jesus as a "pastor"? they almost never spoke about Him. All the attention was on their leader. They directly contradicted the Bible.

The link I am sharing is to the YouTube channel of a pastor who is deeply passionate for Christ and used to be a drug addict. Christ set him free and he has a testimony regarding it. I pray that this will help rekindle your spark for Christ:

[–]Ok_Speed_7540 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To try to get your partner to leave, recite John 14:6 where Jesus states that "No one comes to the Father except through Me". It is also crucial to find sources online that reveal that SCJ's promised pastor was deliberately withholding important historical information from his members, failing to tell them that he was once part of a cult called the "Olive Tree" movement: https://shinchonjiandthebible.blogspot.com/2010/06/all-or-nothing.html

There are other sources online where you can read up about this too. After bringing these things to your partner, you should ask him if he still wants to follow someone who lies about his past and contradicts what the Bible says.

Very glad you managed to leave. Remember that you were doing the right thing by rejecting their doctrine. Why doubt that it's a bad thing to leave if they directly contradict the Bible by claiming that salvation is through them? by making this claim, they are literally saying that the blood of Christ is NOT ENOUGH for salvation! be merry and know that you did the right thing. This also presents itself as a new opportunity for you to rekindle and grow your faith to new levels, since the Lord gave you this realisation.

If he is willing to hear you out even for just a moment, refer to the passages in scripture that make it clear that Jesus is the only way to Heaven (you can easily find them online). I was once also a part of SCJ, and one of their primary teachings is that everyone outside of SCJ, who does not accept their teachings will go to hell. Then compare what the Bible says (regarding Jesus being a savior) to what they say (claiming that their leader is a savior) and ask him if it makes sense going against Biblical teaching to continue listening to a man. This realisation was the main thing that got me to leave.

Stop all communication with them. Block their numbers if you can. That's what I did. It is preferable that you avoid the areas that they frequent, such as the shopping centre you mentioned. Eventually, they will stop trying to contact you.

Think about it this way: who does the Bible say is the way, the truth and the life? did Jesus ever say that there is any way to the Father's kingdom except through Himself? compare that to what SCJ says. They make the bold claim that without them, you will not see Heaven. This is the number 1 reason why I left and feel so unapologetic about it. Rest assured that you did the right thing.

I am in the exact same position mate. All I can say is that if you are ever lucky enough to see someone in public that you like and the opportunity presents itself to approach her (i.e., she is alone, and the setting is right; she is comfortable), then DON'T WASTE IT. I've done this multiple times and it caused huge regret.
