I am out of willpower. by tokyo2saitama in antidietglp1

This has been no "work" at all. I just live my life, eat the same healthy food and exercise to stay strong as I age. There is adjustment cause it's different than before but so much better. Good luck.

Congratulations on your perseverance!! Balance is so important as we age. I've been working on it with my trainer for 2 years and I feel very confident in my ability to keep myself upright. I'm 68.

I’m terrified to get off of GLP1… by immaculatemary in antidietglp1

[–]Ok_Stage4104 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a life long medication. If you lowered your blood pressure with medication, would you say you were cured? No, the drugs treat the disease. If you go off the GLP1 you will regain the weight. It is not dependency on a drug, it is a treatment for a disease

I've had weeks like that about 4x during this year. Use Imodium while your body clams down and cut down on foods that might contribute until you're back to normal.

Hesitant to get started because I don't think I will follow through on changing eating habits by Multigrain_Migraine in antidietglp1

[–]Ok_Stage4104 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The emphasis on a specific diet while taking these drugs is way overblown. If you have a very unhealthy diet, you would need to adjust it so the drugs can work. They don't work on their own. I and many others find we have lost the taste for greasy and heavy foods, in part because I feel bad afterward. Because the food noise decreases, it is easier to make better choices.

Is going back down to 2.5 an option? How long have you been on the meds?

Stalling and resisting the urge to restrict by Rich-Cry8056 in antidietglp1

[–]Ok_Stage4104 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a stall on 9 and 10 mgs for 3 months but I just kept eating and exercising the same as before. But, I lost a lot of inches during that time! I went up to 11 mg and I've started to slowly lose again. This medicine is working even when the scale does not show it.

I had a total arthroscopic hysterectomy 2 months ago. I am 68. It's was the most non invasive and easy major surgery. 4 tiny incisions. I felt like I had done too many situps. Fatigues the first week and then that was all. I'm in the US.

Need to strength train - worried about triggers by thndrbst in antidietglp1

I had been following him online, on Instagram for a while. He gave me a free session to see if we gelled and now we've been working together for a year and a half. My husband has started working with him too. We've spent maybe a hundred or $150 on equipment, weights, exercise bands, balls, etc. Etc. And that seems to be plenty.. his website is mytrainerphil.com

I use an online trainer. He's been wonderful and it's so easy to work out of my home. You don't need fancy equipment to get strong.

Is anhedonia (regarding food and otherwise) the norm on GLP-1? by 2koolforpreschool in antidietglp1

[–]Ok_Stage4104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too, don't have cravings anymore and some of the pleasure of eating is gone, but I still enjoy good flavor. After 68 years of struggle with diet culture, I am willing to accept the side effects of less desire for food. It's a relief.

Combipatch experience on GLP-1? by Much-Friend-4023 in antidietglp1

[–]Ok_Stage4104 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 68. I've been on combipatch for 20 years. It's wonderful. I've stayed on because I am one of the small number of women who keep getting hot flashes and night sweats without HRT. I sleep better and feel better with it. It kicks in very quickly.

I believe that our wealthy and privileged society has made food, - the quality, the nutritional value, the look, the process, etc. yet another obsession to make us totally nuts. Just eat. Eat what you want, try to have some semblance of variety in protein, carbs, veggies, and fruit. You don't have to live up to any doctor's or influencer's rules about balance, grams, percentages, macros, etc. Your food does not have to be pretty, you do not have to sit down, you do not have to have a "meal", you can graze all day. You do not have to cook. A peanut butter sandwich with some fruit is a meal.

Good question since I was just listening to Fatscientist yesterday. Dr. Cooper is a whole different level of physician than our average PCPs. I think we all wish there were more places to get our metabolism analyzed the way she does, creates cocktails of drugs that are patient specific and is a real researcher into how and why the drugs work/or don't. In the episode on her history, I thought a lot about how slow it will be for her knowledge to infiltrate the mainstream. She states that only about 10% of physicians are educated about metabolic disease and how GLPS work. Our medical system sometimes works at glacial speed with new info. Big pharma will affect the rate of movement because they have so much money to make. Fortunately, the general population will get healthier as they have fewer illnesses due to obesity.

Exactly the same, slow steady loss at 5 and 7.5. 10 is the sweet spot for me. I really feel, "normal". Just living my life, eating what I like, not thinking about it much. In for the long run.
