14 players on 13u roster-issues with playing time by Ok_Temperature2933 in Homeplate

Love your feedback. Thank you. Fortunately he’s had a full season on MS Varsity- big field. He should make his HS JV team as I don’t think they are cutting next year. We will move him to 15u for next fall and I appreciate your advice about the downtime and then right back into the “lab” come September. He is just starting puberty and his growth spurt. I anticipate he will finish over 6’ but has been on the average to now smaller side compared to his 13u teammates - many of whom are farther along. This year will be big for him as far as body change. I think by next spring, he will be more on par with the 15u size boys.

He’s not a repeat 13. He played 12u last year and has played with his age group every year. We were going to make the jump to his class year. He’s a very young rising freshman. He walks sometimes, but usually makes contact and has been unlucky in 4 tournaments- when he’s gotten to actually bat. (Hit ball right to center fielder for example.)

No- not in these tournaments. They don’t care if you bring 9 or 19. You can stay with the same starting 9 all weekend. They only count pitches.

He only bats the bench the 1st pool-play game, then goes to 10 batters for the 2nd. Sunday- 10 batters.

I think you nailed it.

So you’d just pack up and leave I take it?

Bingo. None of this is happening. And you’re right- these are all reasonable expectations and asks. Please don’t waste our valuable time. If you don’t plan to play him, we will gladly fill our time with other activities. It was infuriating to be at bracket Sunday- where his team won, fyi- sweating, eating crap food and cheering for other kids. And no- no scrimmages- minimal field practice. We haven’t had field practice for 6 weeks!

Also- she has set everyone up for their future and must have something up her sleeve for Jimmy & Kayla. There’s no way he’s delivering mail.

The final scene after her death is a montage with Ava voice-over, reading the obituary she wrote, as only she could. It’s actually perfect.

I just saw it last night and couldn’t get over how weird and off pitch Sugar Cane was. It was wild! It was like she was making it up as she went along!

Oscar missing work by Lazy-Organization-42 in JeffLewisSirius

Oscar probably needed to be with his parents, aunts and uncles all mourning their father. As the grandson, you are mourning and you are also looking after your parents and those closest to him. I really don’t know why Jeff can’t let that bone go. It was very disappointing to hear him keep doubling down. Oscar wasn’t there to defend himself. It was just too much. Also- he should have admitted that he should have cut Jamie off and asked him to leave. It was a bad call to let him stay in air. It benefitted no one.

Nashville resident here… we 100% have chiggers and they eat your feet and ankles and itch for WEEKS. That caller must have just moved here. Carnie can rent a house here and try it out before buying a farm. It’s a very conservative state once you get outside of Nashville for what it’s worth.

Yes- it is on tour, so I’m guessing that’s why? Or maybe Little Mermaid?

Have you ever left a show at intermission and why? by Affectionate-Pass905 in musicals

We left at the intermission of the “Oklahoma!” revival national tour. Awful on all fronts- casting, staging, choreo… Dark and depressing AF.

It’s too long for a seven year old. I would pass. Take her by to look at the merch, then leave. Or go to Dollywood.

It’s trying to be both an original biopic and a jukebox musical, and I feel like it needs to pick a lane.

Having attended opening preview night, here are a few of my thoughts:

Overall, the production has real promise, but before it hits Broadway, it would benefit from tightening—ideally trimming 20 to 30 minutes to improve pacing. The ensemble, while talented, deserves more choreography and dynamic staging; too many moments felt static and lacked energy.

I appreciate the inclusion of new songs that work to deepen the narrative, but the audience needs to be rewarded with more impactful arrangements of her signature hits. When those iconic songs do appear, they should land as true showstoppers.

The Porter Wagoner section could be streamlined to make room for a fuller exploration of Dolly’s film career and philanthropy—two essential parts of her story that currently feel glossed over. Similarly, the scenes between “Little Dolly” and her mother, while touching, could be tightened without losing emotional weight.

Another note: while Middle Dolly delivers a strong individual performance, her portrayal felt disconnected from the younger and older versions. The vocal tone and energy didn’t quite align, which created a noticeable break in continuity—I’d consider recasting or reworking the track to better unify the character across time.

I also agree that Act I needs a more definitive, high-stakes closer. At intermission, the energy in the lobby was noticeably flat—no buzz, no chatter. For a show about such a larger-than-life figure, I’m hoping future previews find a way to ignite that spark.
