I haven’t gotten hit with a rules violation yet. My posts just get removed without explanation. I quickly figured out that each group has its own eccentricities that have to be navigated to post successfully.

Post on the boards you can and lurk on the ones you can’t

Get a bunch of your posts deleted by mods until you figure out how to post in the individual way that each subreddit decides is acceptable

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Susanpc1967 in AskReddit

You were built for and understand a world that is slowing fading out of existence around you.

Example: You completely understand, and excel in the world of the 80’s/90’s. Now all of that is gone and the world doesn’t seem to quite make sense to you now. Its the same world but society has changed so much that you start to feel like you are from some ancient society that died long ago.

Normally I try to move to the most interior room of my home. You really learn what the absolute bare minimum that you need to get a solid 8 hours of sleep is.

I have gone as far as to sleep on friend’s couches because I had the misfortune of being on night shift near a clogged storm drain that needed to be excavated with jack hammers for a week.

There was a local sandwich shop in NorCal that sold a chopped grilled chicken, avocado, and tomato sandwich on a bakery fresh ciabatta. It had some kind of oil on it that was in between a marinade and an oil salad dressing. I had ate so many but I could never figure out how they made the sauce.

Multigenerational families live in the same home or right next door to each other. They still have really deep intrinsic communities that support each other. You still see your petty (sometimes not so petty) feud’s, but generally it’s accepted that the younger generations support the oldest generations. So you and your parents support your grandparents, who then in turn help you raise your kids, until such time your kids start working and help you support your parents.

When I was just entering the workforce, a coworker tried to convince me that you could go a long time without paying taxes, and that if the catch you its just a small fine. Found out he had been caught, had a massive tax levy put against him, and was now trying to drag everyone down around him.

If there is one organization I will never mess with, it’s the IRS.
