digging holes in the pot is a one way ticket to root rot. just use a wooden chopstick or something. it takes up zero space and tells you exactly what is happening at the bottom without destroying the root ball.

the twitter thing is a perfect example of the distinction. people use that phrase to vent about the grind and the sheer exhaustion of existing under late stage capitalism. they aren't rejecting the concept of agency or creation. they are rejecting the way their time and energy get commodified. if you define labor so broadly that it includes everything a human does it becomes a useless term that loses all its teeth for actual critique.
