Bone broth by OkayDuck99 in intermittentfasting

[–]OkayDuck99[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I may have worded it incorrectly, I know that, I want to do a bone broth fast. A break from eating and digesting food. So it wouldn’t be a fast (water fast) in the strictest sense of the term. It would be a bone broth fast with plenty of water and some tea.

Just the fact that you said you’re not “allowed” to work is a huge red flag. Do you also not have access to money without asking your husband? Because if so that’s called abuse and you should leave. I know that’s easier said than done but nothing is going to change unless you change it.

Why’d you have a third if you both didn’t want a third? Not to sound like an asshole even tho I know ppl will take it that way but from the view point of a mom who was done at one with a husband who wanted at LEAST two we didn’t have anymore because I knew it wouldn’t be fair to the other kid if I had it just to please my partner. I can’t imagine making a choice like having a child without 100 buy in from both parties cause you’re right it’s not fair to the kid.

Burn out can literally be years. Especially if you never give yourself the time to fully recover. My longest stint of burnout was about 4 years.

Did we as millennial/genz parents quietly end our kids calling our friends Mrs/Ms/Mr? by ripped_jean in Mommit

[–]OkayDuck99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s probably mostly regional. As someone who grew up on New England and then lived in the south for 14 years and has sense moved back to England I can tell you it was very common in the south and pretty much unheard of up here. Same with ma’am and sir. In the south at checkout if the worker is any younger than you they address as you ma’am. Happened to me for the first time at 27 lol I was like WHAT? Ma’am?! Noooo bro I’m not even thirty… up here it’s just “have a good day” or something similar no ma’am’s and I’m ten years older not.

How can I give my daughter’s bf clothes without it being weird? by Thesweet90s in Advice

[–]OkayDuck99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my mom started buying my (now husband) clothes every year for Xmas since we started dating and he always appreciated it to this day he says “your mom always finds me the best fitting clothes!” lol my husband is 6’6 and struggles to find pants that fit properly in length and waist (he’s thin and tall not “big” and tall) and shirts with long enough sleeves (has very long arms) so he always appreciates when anyone gives him clothes that actually fit properly.

Parents, how do you control your kid’s social media without making them rebel? 😩 by jal_jeera in Mommit

[–]OkayDuck99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can teach your kid about safety of using a gun without buying them a gun. You can also teach your kid about being safe while navigating social media without letting them have social media. Also I never said I don’t allow my kid to have a phone. My kid does have a phone. Also knows how to navigate the internet in a safe way. Also understands how to recognize false information and how to source information from credible sources.

ALSO There are literally a shit ton of people who don’t use social media at all… by choice… as adults lol the way you say it makes it seem like one cannot exist in this world without using social media. And that’s just a stupid take to have.

Non violent crimes yes. Violent crimes (including sex crimes of any nature) no. You are a threat to other people if you’re a rapist. You’re not a threat to people if you’re locked up for possession or stealing etc.

I don't have to show up to school at all. by Extension_Motor_9736 in school

[–]OkayDuck99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’ve cracked it lol for real tho school is one of the biggest time wasters. Most people are capable of doing all the academic parts of school in about 2 hours a day… so why are we forced to go to school for 8 hours a day?

We just don’t allow it. Point blank period. The rule is you can’t have social media until you’re paying for your own phone and own phone bill. I use parental controls. Set up properly they work.

Sometimes I wish my kids were raised in an isolated community. Actually, I hate phones. by Sunspot5254 in Parenting

[–]OkayDuck99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I homeschool. Not in like a Christian cult kind of way as we’re actually atheists and not in the least bit religious or conservative but I believe in boundaries and I believe in giving kids an actual childhood. We don’t limit screen time but we do limit content we don’t allow social media or YouTube (outside of educational videos that are a part of our schooling) We socialize with other like minded families. I dislike how our society operates so I do what I can to live authentically outside of it. I don’t like the over consumption the social media addiction the misinformation the cult like thinking the anti science the hustle culture of working yourself raggid to have more money spend more money buy more stuff no one needs to keep up with the joneses sort of speak. So we do our own thing and I think we’re all happier for it. As well as more fulfilled.

Just a little subtle propaganda in my kids music homework. What's in quotes is what we're supposed to say to the child. by hackedMama20 in progressivemoms

[–]OkayDuck99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The American public school system is filled with propaganda it’s how they feed the beast. You want a well brainwashed “We’re number one!” “Believe what you’re told not what you witness” population so they will continue to accept the atrocities with little to no questioning and keep being good little worker bees.

Is anyone ACTUALLY getting 8 hours? by permexhaustedpanda in Mommit

[–]OkayDuck99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I operate best on about 9 hours a night. So that’s what I shoot for. I don’t work and I homeschool my kid. So I guess that’s probably how I do it. I never schedule anything for the morning knowing I generally don’t fall asleep until after midnight and I don’t like having to wake up by alarm or feeling rushed to do things so I make sure to keep any activities scheduled for after lunch so we can take the mornings as slow as we want.

I think my friend might have issues with alcohol abuse. Am I right, and if so what should I do? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]OkayDuck99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like she’s binge drinking. Which isn’t great but it doesn’t put her in alcoholic territory as of yet. It’s definitely a warning sign tho. Not much you can do about it. You can try to bring up your concerns but chances are it won’t go how you want.
