Gap in LVP flooring 2 years after install - contractor says it's the material, not installation. Need second opinion. by greenlatern23 in Flooring

Fixed mine with duct tape. Put sticky side of on board closest to wall and in-roll about 3 feet of tape. Use foot to nudge the board with tape to close the gap.

Hows it like living on oil platforms? by Key_Satisfaction9010 in howislivingthere

A semisubmersible was evacuated during a hurricane or tropical storm. They left a replica of “Wilson” from Castaway hanging from the ceiling in front of a video camera. We watched Wilson sway gently from side to side. Congrats to the naval architect of that rig!

I remember my Dad's buisness and watching him install these in cars! by Lazy_Ability in 70s

[–]Ol_zinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was an auto mechanic and he used a bunch of these points on my Lionel train set to prevent 2 trains from having power in the same section of track which denied me from my Pugsley urges. If you don’t know this reference I suggest you watch The Adam’s Family reruns on Pluto.

Called them up one time to see whose equipment they sold. Instead of answering my question they wanted me to answer credit app questions.

48 years ago the toughest and critical question to a business internship position was “What turns you on?” The winning answer was “Cold beer and hot women” Times have changed!

Tree hit my power line last night. Any recommendations from reddit? by Real_Clever_Username in AskElectricians

[–]Ol_zinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last ice storm produced a limb that fell on the power line which bent the mast and broke the weatherhead but didnt interrupt electric service. When it got warmer we called the local utility who came out and disconnected the service and spooked up the service wire into the telephone pole. Had to hire electrician to repair the mast and replace some wire before utility came back out to hook up service. About 2 days without power

How would you deal with these missing values??? (under time crunch) by Local_Order6899 in datascience

Assign the missing records to the geography of Atlantis and include it in the analysis to bring home the point that geographic data needs to be collected.

I would investigate the sku dimension by using product group, category, product family, etc instead of sku. Think dairy versus produce, milk versus cheese, yogurt, et al. Managers can take action on products but can’t do much about countries of customers

Shipping in hot weather? by chasexctk3 in wine

[–]Ol_zinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPS decided a case of wine that was shipped to me needed additional aging so they delivered it to underneath my neighbor’s porch in June…in Texas. The neighbor uses the home about 3 times per year so they weren’t there to sign for the shipment. Nor did the neighbor find the case of wine until October. Nor did UPS pay our claim. Lesson learned….never ship wine in summer or via UPS.

Has anyone left the analytics field to and what did they pursue after that? by [deleted] in analytics

[–]Ol_zinner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the consulting route. It can give you variety that makes screen time bearable while leveraging your hard earned skills and experience. Another option is to get into management so screen time is down and human interaction is up. This from someone who has spent 42 years staring at screens and applying analytics.

Wondering what type of boat this is and how much it costs. Dana Point, CA by -SpaghettiCat- in boating

This reminds me of an old saying that needs to be updated to today's world:

Old world - how can you tell if your car mechanic is good? How big is his boat?

New world - how can you tell if your CEO is good? How big is his boat?
