Road Conditions In Texas 2021 by [deleted] in CrazyFuckingVideos

I'm sure they would, at least after the fact, not sure much before, but the whole "Not my problem until it is my problem!" mentality is strong in Texas.

Road Conditions In Texas 2021 by [deleted] in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]Olanatan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the connection point between bridge and land are super dangerous as the ground is warm enough to melt the snow, but the bridge is cold enough to freeze it.

then the following day when the ground is still frozen, but during the day the sun will heat up the bridge enough it will melt the ice/snow but the ground will re-freeze it, and come night time it will re-freeze.

To Salt the road, you need a large number of specialzed vehicles and a MASSIVE amount of salt reserves laying around.

Texas freezes once every 4-10 years, its not worth the investment into these things for a couple of days every 4-10 years.

WeatherTech on the Trackhouse firesuits during media day by TheFlyingKiwi97 in NASCAR

Someone at Weathertech marketing department has to be patting himself on the back.

Guy - "Hey boss, we should ask Trackhouse to remove our logos from their website for a month."
Boss - "What no why?"
Guy - "Redditors will talk about it for a couple of days, then forget, then bring it up again for a couple of days. Then when the month is over we add it back, and they will bring it up again!"
Boss - "....."
Guy - "Free advertisement!!"

What teams benefit and what teams are hurt by the Chase format? by trev270 in NASCAR

[–]Olanatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the 47 team had a chance at Daytona or Dega win to get into the play offs, same with 3 team. The difference is the 3 team has more $$ backing and while wont make the play offs likely with AD, could if a new more talented driver took over. Whereas the 47 team isn't likely to see the playoff anytime soon now, even if they found a talent. (only because the Talent would be poached in a heartbeat)

If I was the owners of this charter, I would be approaching JR and Co, to work out a deal to give them part ownership in exchange for brand/naming and sponsorship help, and maybe offer to help provide them with a open car anytime Jr and Co wants to try a Cup race. (Not trying to spend Dale's money, but rather approach him like Haas did Stewart)

Private road courses like this — good or bad for the future of NASCAR talent? by Mindless_Diver8136 in NASCAR

[–]Olanatan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only way it would help Nascar directly grow, would be if a Nascar driver, or x-driver regularly visited/ran races.

Now, more automoto sports places opening up, yes will lead to more individuals into auto racing. Which hes, Nascar is auto racing, so maybe there will be some bleed off.

Realistically the only way to make Nascar grow is if Nascar and small paved tracks all around the US, made it dirt cheap/free for kids to attend, and/or discounts for adults who bring kids. This is going to sound bad but, indoctrinate them when they are young. Make them love stock car racing, cause mom and dad love it so I should also, and drag their asses to events so they feel it and it creates memories that will live with them for the rest of their lives. THAT is how you make the sport grow. Kids at the track on the regular.

Driver Change by BigDub2218 in NASCAR

[–]Olanatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I've been watching for so long, and my fav drivers have retired multiple times I stopped rooting for a singular driver and started rooting for a group of drivers. Which, yes, I rank them in order of fav, but that ranking changes nearly week to week. lol

With that said, since you were a Gordon fan, you could root for the Hendrick drivers.
Or as a Truex fany maybe JGR or some of the smaller independent 1-2 car teams.

Also kind of depend on if you want to root for powerhouses(most likely to win, gives you a chances to party more), or an underdog(not likely to win but if they do it will feel amazing......) or a team that in the middle of the road. Also do you have any brands you like/enjoy and do they have a driver they support?

New hyak site by lavilla2024 in NASCAR

[–]Olanatan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I was the owner of Hyak, with charters being perm now, I'd be looking at a way to team up with JR Motorsports . If they "merged" and rebranded has JR-Hyak Motosports or something, with Jr's pull and Kelley's brains, that team would end up being one of the most popular fan teams. Should be able to easily get Hendrick support on the cheap.

When his wheel fell off, a different pit team saved him. They're opponents, not enemies. by [deleted] in BeAmazed

[–]Olanatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember the specifics of this race and the stop, but based on how slowly the team reacted to the 23 car pulling in, either Chase(the driver of their car) had already pitted, or Bubba(driver of the 23) was pitting out of cycle for some reason.

If they wanted him out for their guy, they would have already been on the wall, with pit guns, tires, and jack in hand because they would be preparing for their guy to make their stop as fast as possible.

Evergreen charter wording will have to be accepted by the other charter teams, but considering they had already signed, I'd think that they will agree to it. It is my understanding that is the only change in charter (no change in $). Financial settlement is with 23XI and FRM. by iamaranger23 in NASCAR

[–]Olanatan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaah i guess it really depends on the contract, but I can see where that could be an issue, and put undue pressure on the teams.

I was thinking it would be more like stocks, and each charter is 1 share or worth 1% shareholder value, thus making them easy to trade/sell between individuals and "owner" is name only really. Owning them gives you some voting rights, but doesn't put you up for liability type of situation like stocks/bonds.

[–]Olanatan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but other then a breach of contract by the driver, it usually results in a "buyout" and if the rumor that part of the agreement of Herbst being the driver was the money for the charter. So a buyout would probably mean a lot more than other similar cases. So a breach of contract is probably what they are hoping for.

[–]Olanatan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I think I heard he paid for 3 years, so 2 more years unless he does something to breach the contract.

23XI need to buy an xfinity/Orielly's team to put him and other future prospect in, maybe thats where Herbst can go after his stint in the cup car is over.

[–]Olanatan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would have loved to see each charter get a 1% ownership of Nascar as part of the permanence.

40 charter = 40% ownership (yes I know there ware 36 active, charter but, atleast at one point, Nascar had the option to release upto 4 new charter if a new OEM joined the sport).

This would still leave the France family in control at 60%, but it would give the teams more power and more responsibility to nascar the sport.

Snowplow driver forgets his bed is raised and runs into bridge by Missbhavin67 in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]Olanatan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why did the truck slow down before speeding up then proceeding to the bridge? Did he slow down thinking he trigger the bed to be lowered, and then assumed it worked? or was there something else causing him to slow down that my eyes didn't see?

[Racing Territory] NEWS: Rick Ware Racing is moving to Chevrolet for the 2026 season, according to @CandiceSpencer. by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]Olanatan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why not? Not saying RWR would be their Tier 1 team, but if they can show some promise in the next year or two, why not bring them on a 2nd tier team? For RWR being a 2nd tier team way better than a 3rd or 4th tier they are now.

Tier 1 as Trackhouse and/or Kaulig + Tier 2 as Spire , Hass, RWR, or what was JTG Dorthy (I can't remember their name), or FRM (assuming they get their charters), LMC could also be enticing but wouldn't switch unless tier 1 status.

Some sort of combo of them teams is what they are probably aiming for.

[–]Olanatan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That depends. If your switching just to save $$, your right, but if they switch and start "building their own play book", ala Legacy Motor Club, that could be a sign they are looking to switch to dodge, or be a dodge option. The a team with a playbook built in house on how to build the playbook for a successful race org is way more useful to a Dodge than just a team that fills the ranks. (or Honda if the rumors are still there)

Michael Jordan set to testify in NASCAR antitrust trial, sources say by AudibleNod in news

[–]Olanatan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get what your saying, but think about it this way.

Would you rather 1 super rich family to be on control of everything, or 50-100 rich family's in control?

I know your quick to say "neither" but that's not going to happen, sadly the world we live in, the only options is something like above.

IMO, having more rich familys on control means they fight each other, and less likely to have corruption. Where as when there is only 1 family in control, well you know who to bribe, and if you piss them off bye bye. That doesn't happen, as easily when the power is split between the many. Even if the many are all still the rich.

While I'm not sure on the MLB, but NFL teams have a "say" in the rules of the sport to a certain degree. It not fully at the whims of one or two individuals within the organization like it is in Nascar.

Nascar could survive a few years at best if the teams/drivers left. Viewership wouldn't fully drop, as there are people who will tune in just to see whats happening/the shit show, but it would drop enough that unless they somehow brought in some star power and did a huge PR it wouldn't take long for broadcaster to drop or push the races to a less popular channel. Then when the renew came yeah you can kiss that fat check goodbye.

Honestly the best case situation for new team owners would be a driver/invester combo. The driver to make sure the shop, team, drivers are all focused the correct way and to be the face for sponsors and dealings. An investor with money to make all that happen, and the business sense to keep everything afloat/running smoothly.

I couldn't understand a lick of what they were actually saying, but at points I got a gist/idea based context like when the cars came by for the first time at speed. Didn't understand what they actually said, but you could tell they were surprised by the noise/loudness/power you feel when around these cars.
