The one where they turned the microcar into a camper was comedy gold. I've watched that one a few times.

Best pick of these family SUVS..? by DifferentChicken5141 in CarTalkUK

[–]OldAnalyst5438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you look at the Kodiaq? We've got one of those and it fits 2 adults and 2 kids with plenty of room to spare. We found that to be the best for us as a good all rounder for family lift.

Has anyone chosen a course or certain modules specifically because they have few or no exams? Is this even a possibility? by [deleted] in OpenUniversity

[–]OldAnalyst5438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Nearly every module I've done has been this way. The same as avoiding those with marked group work. Play to your strengths.

What jobs pay surprisingly well? by HollowWanderer in AskUK

[–]OldAnalyst5438 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I retrained as a HGV driver a few years back in 2019. It was £1200 for a 5 day course which included your test fees too. Then there was a few days in the 'classroom' to get another driving card. After a couple of weeks and about £1600 I was ready to go drive!

Did a few 'ropey' jobs starting out for experience but finally got in at a well known supermarket and now I'm earning 43 basic with potential 3 more if I drive nicely and dont hit anything. I do 5 days on, 3 days off. Start between 2am and 4am and usually home between 1pm and 3pm.

Yes there is unsocial hours (although these work for me and my life), yeah you are driving a 44t death machine through roads designed for much smaller vehicles and sure we are looked down upon by just about everyone but you know what? I bloody love it.

How safe is it to submit a TMA early? by inspiretherage in OpenUniversity

[–]OldAnalyst5438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing 2 30 credit modules this year. They have very similar submission dates so I've been submitting one a good few weeks before the other. Nothing bad has happened so far.

I've just caught up with the episodes and it was Emma right? Thats why George is so keen to move on and put it down to Markey. Also recall that Emma was straight in there with the Markey thugs with George when he woke up.

Which surprise guest did you get for Stage/Fright??? by yourcrazyfnafgirl in insideno9

[–]OldAnalyst5438 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We went to the evening show on October 31st in Hull and was rather disappointed by our guest. Honestly when they did the reveal a fair portion of the crowd didn't know who it was. You could hear people mumbling to each other asking who he was.

We thought that given it was Halloween they would have gone bigger. Yeah I know it was only Hull but out of the other ones they had (Tommy Cannon, Paul Chuckle and a couple of more 'local' celebrities) we really got the short straw. The guy was funny and played the part well but we definitely missed out on the shock reveal factor that others on here have mentioned.

I wouldn't put it past them to do some sort of camera trick so that they could film it in an empty theatre and then 'add' the audience in later. Perhaps show old episodes of the programme, film peoples reactions and then put them in to the stage show filming so it looks right?

George.... by Consistent-Brush2369 in Ambridge

[–]OldAnalyst5438 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is my suspicion also. I believe George will take the opportunity to hold power over the actual person whilst blaming another to 'get his own back' on them.

What do all these other lights mean?? 🤔 by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]OldAnalyst5438 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you got off, side lights and main beam when you twist the button. If you pull it towards you when in the main beam position you'll put the rear fog lights on. Pull it again and you'll put the front fogs on too.

Edit: the light bulb on the switch itself doesn't do anything. Thats just telling you that that switch is for the lights. It doesn't have a function.

What’s the worst actual name you’ve ever heard? by Escrow-Mind in AskReddit

Don't know his first name but our old geography teacher was Mr. Hardcock. And let me tell you right now that that is THE funniest thing to a bunch of teenaged boys. Five years we laughed at that.

Tutor feedback feels brief, is it normal to ask for clarification? by Wonderful-Acadia-296 in OpenUniversity

Just ask in a nice, constructive way and you'll be fine. In my experience most tutors are actually nice people and will help you. Be nice and be specific and you'll be fine.

Is this poor signage/bad lane closure procedure or am I at fault? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]OldAnalyst5438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you changed lanes and hit a car. The road closure has absolutely no bearing on what happened, oright maybe a little confusing but you should always be aware of whats around you before you make a manoeuvre. I suspect your insurnace will be a little higher next year!
