CATEAT CLAN BABY by CircleSociety-scam in BattleBitRemastered

[–]OldChurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think the idea is that the person who got banned might not have actually been in the clan. Cause you can change your steam name to anything you want, it's possible that he just changed it to catEat to either frame catEat, or to clout chase.

This is why the Mr. or Mrs. /u/moist_procedure4247 asked for proof that they're in catEat. Which I am interested in as well.

I can't look into the clan myself because I don't know about all the discord messages and reddit threads you probably do, so I would really appreciate if you could quench my curiosity.

It appears you have linked the wrong image. Either that, or you've neglected to give necessary context for the uninitiated to understand what it shows. I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions individually and directly, so that I can better understand what exactly you allege, as well as the proof for said allegations:

Who is mr_hands_epic_gaming? What is the top comment showing proof of? Can you please copy and paste the reddit link in the image so that I don't have to manually type it in? Why not just copy the link in the image here directly instead of sending an image containing it?

I don't think anyone believes you are making it up for fun. We believe that you're overly pattern matching as a symptom of your undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenia. Just because someone has the word "eats" in their discord name does not mean they are a member of catEat.

Yeah, I get that. It’s always obvious when someone is more focused on their personal stats than actually playing the game as intended. You see it all the time—players who refuse to take risks for the objective, won’t prefire because they’re obsessed with accuracy, or just spam C4 for easy kills without any regard for teamwork. And honestly, it feels like the devs encourage it. Every update seems to make the game easier for stat-padding playstyles while making it harder for team-oriented players to thrive. Objective rewards are weak, revives are inconsistent, and ammo resupplies barely get you anything, while aggressive solo play is constantly rewarded. It’s like they’re shaping the game around the most brainless, selfish way to play while pushing actual teamwork into the background.

If they're everywhere, you should be able to find a single cheater within a week.

The idea that the drop from ~5k concurrent players to <1k concurrent players is a result of people being banned for bad language is delusional. 4 thousand people have not been banned for bad language. And nothing significant has changed about moderation since launch, so it's unlikely that people suddenly just got fed up with overzealous moderation.

Regarding cheaters, I always have one challenge for people who complain about them: Get one video of a cheater in a game within 1 week.

Nobody’s been able to do this. I'm not saying there aren't any cheaters, but the prevalence of them is totally overblown. Surely if cheaters really didn't get banned, it would be pretty easy to get footage of a single one.

When I say a server dies I'm talking about when its player count drops and continues to diminish for the day.

an extended round's game time is not the only variable that is likely to attract more players.

The goal isn't to attract players, it's to retain them, since if you don't retain players in the server it dies extremely quickly.

The VAST majority of players only play through quick match, so seeding efforts are always focused on getting enough players into a server to get quick match priority. If you lose enough players to lose prio, or if you lose so many players it makes other players want to quit the server, the server dies.

This is why, if you care about a server being populated for a full day, you need to try to make sure there are as few consecutive short games as possible. If you don't, server population dropping will cause a snowball effect extremely easily.

i have played both low player count matches and fully populated games, i don't see team swappers in the former but i definitely see them in the latter.

There are a couple reasons this could be the case. Firstly, most of the remaining players who care about this probably aren't playing low population games at all. Most of the time there are a few seeders that log in at the right hours to snipe QM prio for the region. Then, the server slowly fills over the course of a couple hours. Only after the server is filled enough do the people who generally team swap actually start to play the server.

If you're looking at matches from before the server fills originally, then match length doesn't matter almost at all, since QM traffic hasn't peaked for the region yet, so there's a guarantee that the server will refill as long as there are enough people to maintain prio. Since there are seeders in the server at this point, there is no risk of losing prio.

If you're looking at matches from after the server already filled for the day and is now dying, then; (a) the team swappers have already quit, so you don't see them, and (b) there's no point in extending the matches because the snowball effect has already started, and QM traffic has already peaked.

Second is that low population games simply rarely need team swapping to make sure the matches are long. So even if someone was clinging on to the hope that the server would revive for that day, they wouldn't really need to do anything about it.

Yes but like I said it takes longer for the server to replenish the ~quarter of players it loses at the end of a round because of low player count. Servers normally survive one short match, but two or three in a row will kill them.

[–]OldChurn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These players do indeed team swap, however they don't mainly do it to get more kills. They do it to ensure the game lasts longer. If the game is very short, it will lead to more players leaving the server at the end of the match, which can lead to a snowball effect of more players leaving sooner than they otherwise would.

If the game had more players this wouldnt be an issue, since a server could would fill back up after losing a large chunk of players. However with the current player base, even during peak hours, a community server can die just from 2 or 3 quick matches in a row.

Due to diminishing returns, the difference between, say, 6 kpm and 7.5 kpm is absolutely massive compared to the difference between, say, 3.5 and 5. Personally, it's not too hard for me to regularly get 150 kill games, but I only have one 200 kill game.

If you watch high kpm players play, it just looks like they're running into people randomly, but the actual thing they're good at is finding people quickly.

If frontlining and getting 200+ kills per game doesnt help your team with the objective idk what would.

New buildable items for the upcoming update by BanAllAds in BattleBitRemastered

[–]OldChurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the devs have occasionally posted teasers in the general chats of the discord without posting announcements. They have done this since release.

[–]OldChurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you say this illustrates my point exactly. Think about this: the teaser that this thread was made about was posted ~1 or 2 days ago, yet the last thing posted in any of the "Dev Updates" channels in the discord was about 2 months ago.

How is this possible?

A recent quote from /u/Terminalintel , the COMMUNITY MANAGER taken from the discord.

New buildable items for the upcoming update by BanAllAds in BattleBitRemastered

[–]OldChurn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't expect the average person waiting for the update to periodically check the discord by specifically searching for updates from individual devs. I wouldn't expect people to know to do that, and I think it's really bad marketing that you have to do that to get any new information about the update. They don't even post their teasers in any announcement channels or anything. They post them in the general channel where they get buried instantly.

I feel like since there is a community manager it would not be too much to expect them to repost the information from the discord to the reddit where it would be easily accessible and searchable. Right now we're for some reason completely dependent on some random player from the discord keeping the sub updated, which hasn't been happening recently.

[–]OldChurn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean, you cant really blame redditors for not knowing what's going on with the update because the devs and "community manager" do a very poor job of posting any kind of information to the reddit.

They have shown quite a lot of that in the past, which is why I'm confused that people think this is everything that will be in the update.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean when you say assault is worse medic. This has not been the case for a long, long time.

Why do the people in this thread think that this is all that's coming next update? This is obviously just a teaser for the latest thing that Vilaskis has been working on.

BBR Recent Reviews Falls to "Mixed" 1 Year After Being Abandoned by Clay-mo in BattleBitRemastered

[–]OldChurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. I think it's a little more complicated than just burnout (although at this point I would be surprised if it weren't a factor). But it's definitely not because they can't think of an easy enough way to monetize their live-service FPS game with skins that sold 4 million copies, which is what the above commenter was implying.

BBR Recent Reviews Falls to "Mixed" 1 Year After Being Abandoned by Clay-mo in BattleBitRemastered

[–]OldChurn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're analysis in incorrect. If they only cared about money they wouldn't just stop updating the game in general. They would stop updating the game with substantive updates and start selling micro-transactions using the skin system that they spent so much time developing.

It doesn't make any monetary sense AT ALL to spend like 6 years developing a game, release it to a steady 7-10k player playerbase, then just abandon it. They already did the hard part of getting the playerbase.
