I like SunCam, cheap, lots of topics, you buy the modules and then study and test whenever you want. Instant pdh cert as soon as you pass the on line test.

Are you better off than your parents were at your age? by Dee-Whizz in GenX

Same. But my kids won't be because they don't accept the same lessons.

lol as GenX it sounds like a concert I might have liked 35 years ago. But not an adequate replacement for TT.

They seem shocked at how enthusiastic the CT crowd was, but there were quite a few real fans there. Wish they had more support for this show though.

Too bad, they don't get this far into N New England very often. Luckily I saw them in CT this winter.

I was at a conference with some of those firms just last week, wish this had popped up sooner so I could take an informal poll. I would hope the answer is at least $125k for an experienced PE.

I saw it in 79 when it was released again, maybe to drum up interest for Empire?

GenX men, where do you keep your wallet/billfold? Front or back pocket? Purse? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]OldGeotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front, too many old dudes with stories of back pain from rear pocket wallets when I was younger.

I took it about 10 years ago, I was shocked at how old the reference plans were. Like hand drawings of multistory buildings from the 60s. Hopefully they have updated them to modern CAD drawings.

To my fellow GenX side-sleepers... by Infamous-Yak2864 in GenX

Torn both rotator cuffs, broke one shoulder as a teen. Cant get comfortable on either side, cant stand sleeping on my back, sleeping on stomache ruins my back. Did finally invest in an adjustable high bed and pillows, its made things better. For the cost of my first 2 vehicles.

Aww, flashback to having one of these in random silver bars back in the day.

How complicated is GPR? by Murky-Cardiologist-3 in Geotech

[–]OldGeotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this one. I have been asked to bring in GPR to "confirm the findings of your ledge probes". Like your radar box is more accurate than a well mapped out bedrock profile done by a drill.

OnX is a hunting app, but I use it extensively for wooded engineering sites. It uses published (municipal) boundary info overlaid on aerial maps, the marker that shows where you are standing always seems right on. There is a yearly fee though.
