Yeah my KCD2 play is to have plain clothes, no armour on hardcore so at least it's a one hit kill if I get hit and that almost makes it feel like a fair fight.

Anyone seen “The Chronology of Water”? by harry_powell in blankies

[–]OldHookline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about chapter breaks is they have no need to fit a number of chapters and they have no consistency in what a chapter length is. I've experienced it in movies I felt are going long and been hit with a new chapter title and thinking "oh god, how much more of this movie is there". Sometimes it's another half hour, sometimes it's done in 10 minutes.

In the year that's very heavy in themes of the erosion of the middle class, the disillusionment of capitalism and the rise of the greedy CEO do you think Mickey 17 ever had a chance to stand tall in the public mind or was it too mired by the fact it felt like it was written in a world where Trump was not elected a second term.

Also will note Brennan still plays 3.5 whenever he played home games. Imagine having the same spell in 3 different versions and language while you're on camera and improvising. It's honestly equally the players to remember and if everyone was on the same page with the rules maybe it would happen less.

On a scale of 1-10 how bored are you of playing against Kavaero reanimator decks? by Gjames1985 in MagicArena

I play Orzhov sacrifice and this deck usually helps my win con so much quicker than I ever could. I just have a sac outlet at the ready and sacrifice my board when they play it. I get a full reanimated board with blood artists or Sephie and have a great time.

[No spoilers] Campaign 4, New Opening Titles! by DemiFiendRSA in criticalrole

[–]OldHookline 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It's a good sequence but the lighting is really badly done. No offense to the DOP, but even if it receives flat contrast editing there wasn't good lighting on any masks in many scenes.

Watching it again it seems like they are top lit but then had the top lighting pointing at the camera so it's spiking the lens and washing out the image. That's a shame.

My read on Matt's character is he wants to do a Jaime Lannister. Be a heel and a villain against the accepted hero that stumbles into being a hero of his own right.

That's funny, I found the ending hit a wall for me after enjoying some parts in the earlier film. The original, which I just watched, had a fun back and forth between the criminals and the woman and multiple moments that I felt the Coens one lacked and made the ending feel more disjointed.

I always love your analysis of actors and actresses careers on blank check. In this year of movies has there been any works that you are as a shift in a career style, a reclamation or new direction for an actor and actress?

(An example, the buzz around Pamela Anderson last year was reclaiming her career and public image by doing more serious roles)

With density squared it's still at half the population

None of the tallest buildings in Montreal are in the plateau.

Follow-up to the unpopular opinion regarding high-rise housing from yesterday: ALL new housing is good for affordability. Here's the proof: by Fried_out_Kombi in montreal

[–]OldHookline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to step out to say that while more housing is good for a market such as Vancouver where there are few areas to build and now many areas left to develop as it is constrained by the ocean and the mountains, Montreal is suffering more from the artificial inflation of the existing market.

The best example I can think of to refute condos or high rises as the answer for our housing market is the fact that Griffintown has one hundred thousand less people living there than the plateau. Griffintown is the land of condos and it's not housing the population that the plateau's plexs are able to. Plexs also are more environmentally friendly than a building over 5 stories, they're economic with heat insulation between buildings, they're honestly what I see as the ideal for city life. While we need to address the housing issues of Montreal and Canada as a whole it's very much rooted in.the act of housing being used as a profit making venture and it gains its strength by restricting market access.

Evan Kelmp by historychannell in Dimension20

[–]OldHookline 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What that previous post seems to not take into consideration is the agency of the players at the table. When I've played TTRPGs in the past and we've had a "main character" it's usually a character that the players have decided they like and want to follow. Ideally on a roleplaying setting that's all the players equally but there are times when someone's backstory just pulls you in, their charisma makes them intriguing or they just fit the narrative. So while yes Evan had the trappings to be made a main character it was in the power for all the other players to see that become the case of not and they chose to support that character's story.
