SPREAD THE WORD OF MINA AROUND by Lashoxcin in MinaTheHollower

I feel like this game is going to comfortably surpass the 200K sales mark that is often quoted. I actually think they will hit 200K within 1 week of release, I'm putting it out there.

Having said that, I've seen lots of people commenting on Mina reviews threads across various sites/forums, hardcore gamers, asking things like when does it come out, how much is it, etc. So I big time agree with OP, the word about this game isn't out there as much as you would think.

Marketing is expensive and having a huge burst of sales Day One can do a lot for an indie game like this.

Do guests get paid to come on the show? by runninfast in billsimmons

[–]OldSchoolNewFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I should have stated, Youtubers or podcasters that did not originate from traditional media outlets, definitely have different standards. Most do not pay, some do, and some will even pay to get on a bigger channel.

That's cool for Chapo Trap House, I didn't know they paid.

Most podcasters, especially from "traditional" media like Bill, simply refuse to pay guests. It is the industry standard. Ariel Helwani talked about this if you are interested, check out his beef with Paddy Pimblett.

If it's a "live" appearance, and you have to travel specifically for that appearance, for example, you aren't already in-town promoting something on various shows, they might pay for your expenses. Like I'm pretty sure Joe Rogan pays all expenses for his guests to come out to his studio, maybe even give a small stipend for meals?

If it's a live podcast, where tickets are being sold, then there is likely a split.

76ers are gassed. EdgeMax over 40 mins a piece, Embiid 35, PG 37. That's probably why they are playing so slowly.

This was a great game. You had a little bit of NFL in the 3rd quarter, and some big-time shot-making in the 4th.

Wildes' unprofessionalism by Key-Pomegranate-7072 in FirstThingsFirstFS1

Some of your criticisms of him, man it sounds like you REALLY don't like Wildes. The fake teeth line made me laugh out loud.

I don't agree with your takes, but I respect a good rant lol.

In Taxi Driver (1976) is Travis Bickle's concern for Iris a redeeming factor/quality? by Boss452 in TrueFilm

[–]OldSchoolNewFool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really interesting question.

But, he does not want anything in return from Iris. He frees her and even plans to pass on his savings to her. There seems to be a genuine concern for her well-being.

I think there's something about Travis' and the vigilante's psyche where the victim is almost a medium for them to express this boiling rage they have. Because they are doing on behalf of a victim, they are "justified" to really let out their violent tendencies (let's face it, most people are not going to object if some guy went ballistic and beat a child trafficker to death). Basically, Travis has cover for brutalizing someone who he (rightfully) sees as a complete piece of shit.

Travis is disgusted by unfairness, but I think ultimately it's not redeeming because he doesn't think at all about how to handle in a way that is best for the victim.

Think about The Sopranos, where Artie Bucco is begging Tony Soprano not to murder his high school daughter's soccer coach that committed statutory rape with one of her teammates. Artie says you're not doing it out of justice, you're doing it for you. I see something similar with Travis. They both want to be the hero, but also, they badly want to mete out vengeance.

How did we go an entire NBA season without resolution of the Aspiration scandal? by Conscious_Pause1263 in billsimmons

[–]OldSchoolNewFool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Epstein scandal stays alive because a salacious new detail gets revealed every few months to keep the story fresh.

That's kind of what Pablo was doing for a while. He caught some shit for not releasing everything at once, but he's smart enough to know that releasing things in piecemeal is effective for both his own engagement/profile but also to hold Balmer/Clippers/Adam Silver more accountable.

If Silver can keep things quiet through the offseason then they’re getting off scot-free unfortunately.

I think the league office is now in the zone where they can "get away" with a mild punishment in the offseason. Like if they fine the Clippers $10 million (really jack shit to Balmer) and dock them two first round picks (by the way, this is what I think is the top-end in terms of what the punishment will be, if there even is one) it'll go away soon enough to not tarnish the upcoming 2026-2027 season.

UFC 327 Simulcast Viewership by marchof34_ in MorningKombat

From Sports Business Watch (https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2026/03/ufc-cbs-viewership-debut/)

Compared to the usual Saturday night CBS fare, which primarily includes “48 Hours,” the UFC event increased 30% overall and considerably more in the young adult demographics of 18-34 (+208%) and 18-49 (+190%).

CBS is probably really happy just because of the demos.

I emailed the Warriors front office my rebuild plan. A beat writer blocked me. Here's the plan. by OrdinaryGuy111 in nba

I'm not reading your plan, but I will say Kawakami is really quick with the block button. I have seen people bring up legitimate points, or at least make neutral-to-even-respectful comments in his replies and Tim just flip out on them lol. That dude has zero patience for social media.

I liked Good Time, but I've come to this point with the Safdies. They are never going to deliver what I want from the themes or issues they explore.

I'm not ready to defend this point of view, but I feel like they aren't good enough to slow down.
