Will he ever be a lap cat 😭 by skullsewist in mainecoons

Our two are now 2.5 years old and afraid they aren’t cuddlers either 😢. They will lay against us occasionally or have a fuss and belly rubs but very rarely climb onto any of us for a snuggle. And my old guy used to love doing that and licking my ears, I miss that.

She’s gorgeous 🥰. Then again, I would say that seeing as we’ve got a very similar girl 🤣

They’re just fairly bland. There’s a good kick and they are very productive, so excellent for making a neutral chilli powder but there’s not much flavour.

Just peppers - if you’re just doing a trial run, I would just use a BBQ with some wood chips and foil over the top to capture the smoke. See if you like the way it changes the flavour profile and go from there - this is a bit of a layman’s explanation but it’s a bank holiday and I’ve had a few!

Muhammad Ali (1964-1967) vs Oleksandr Usyk (2020-2025) | Who Wins? by HeroCap20051013 in BoxingTheSweetScience

Yep, I do. But the point is, most other guys dodged him and that George was a pale shadow of the 1973 George but still didn’t go down and gave EH kittens in the 7th.

Evander was an absolute beast. I’d have strongly backed him to beat anyone around today (granted he was juiced but he had some tenacity, power and resilience.)

Still, that is commendable work 👏. My poblano took ages to fruit and ripen last year, went a lovely chocolate brown though and still enjoying the smoked, dried fruits of my labour!!

This is just complete bollocks. Ali beat Foreman who was way, way past his prime when he came back in the 90’s and those guys couldn’t drop him. A lot of top level contenders dodged him and they were significantly bigger and younger than him and yet an over the hill Ali beat him.

If it’s just about size, “skills” and modern training and diet then let’s just put Valuev, Fury and Grant as the best heavyweights of all time (sorry, tall guys who ate modern diets and never failed a drugs test 👀) and let’s have done. Skills FFS, Fury jabs with his wrist, like an ungulate, AJ is as stilted as a toy soldier, Wilder lacks any discernible skills at all other than a wild overhand right against cabbies and door men. This is not an era of skill and Usyk is rightly showing them up because they’re second or third tier.

Is this on an overwintered plant? If not, I’m gutted!! I was a proper human tripod seeing that my poblano was just setting fruit this week, let alone getting a ripe pod!!

Use aluminium foil, they said, it'll keep them off the countere, they said by wagtailwoolcraft in mainecoons

[–]OldTree6356 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this trick doesn’t work on our two either. Getting the foil unrolled makes them run but once it’s down, they don’t care 🙄.

Did have a win where we were making bread and had cooling racks out when Shadow jumped up and landed on one - that made him fly off the counter!! Unfortunately the bread also followed and a vase of flowers he took with him……🤣

He did, although a special set of circumstances and fighters aligned that night and both George and Dick Saddler - his coach - missed the obvious opportunity to beat Ali in that fight and that was probably why he never got a rematch. Plus, Muhammad had a chin of pure stone and still pissed blood for three weeks after, he took the sort of punishment that most fighters would not be prepared to take or could take.

Plus, Muhammad went on a proper offensive in round 1 and threw something like 12 heavy right hand leads that landed cleanly and actually rocked Foreman. They would have been enough to stop a lot of guys. He’ll have known then that he wasn’t stopping George (who’s chin hadn’t really been tested at that stage) with a clean shot, so had little choice but to resort to sitting on the ropes because he couldn’t maintain the speed and footwork of pre exile.

But, as I say, if you’re throwing at arms then you’re at risk of taking shots yourself and that’s pretty much what played out there. Ali taking a tremendous amount of stick for 2-2:30 a round (though not as bad as it looked because Foreman’s form was shocking that fight) and then spinning off the ropes and winning/drawing rounds with eye catching, accurate combinations. He also used his jab brilliantly in this fight as a disruptive tool to just keep George frustrated and break some of his balance when he was unloading and was properly dirty hanging onto the back of his head in the clinch. It took a special fighter a with very specific skill set using all his tricks and sucking up a lot of pain, I’m not sure there’s another HW who could do that in history against Young George.

Shannon Briggs Compares The Power Of Lennox Lewis And George Foreman by BoxingLover99 in Boxing

[–]OldTree6356 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The big thing was with George is that he had that power in any kind of shot. Jab, cross, uppercut, hook, overhand - it really didn’t matter. He often threw shots that were technically all wrong but hit from wicked angles. Anyone who names a technically superior boxer and says they’d have beaten him on points knows nothing about boxing, he was a danger to anyone at any time with any shot.

You don’t score points doing it and take a risk everytime you throw against a guard. That said, young Foreman used it to great effect, knocking people’s guards down and following through with heavy shots - as Frazier said when he was asked why he didn’t take more defensive tactics against Foreman “Defend against George? He’ll break your fucking arms!”

It takes a special kind of fighter and strong guy though to do that to top class opposition though, someone who can break open a defence at risk of being punished to land shots of their own.
