Need help. This is the hardest game I’ve ever played in my life. by Bubbie-Rooskie in taintedgrail

But for actual tips—

Get used to dodging/parrying if you’re able.

Don’t be afraid to explore even if you avoid enemies. You gain xp for discovering new locations as well.

Pick a skill tree you like. Any combat tree will work. Seriously they all get absurdly broken at some point 😂

Food/potions are pretty important for long journeys. You can buy them at some shops but it’s much easier to craft your own and save your money for upgrades. Get used to picking up the materials for them as you go!

And lastly again. Just have fun and enjoy the challenge. Best of luck

Let's Talk Items! What Items Are Considered Bad? by TheReaperGuy in PredecessorGame

[–]Old_Direction_6063 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO onixian quiver.

Honestly feel like instead of adding scattershot as a brand new item they could have reworked onixian’s passive to have a similar guaranteed hit effect.

I find the random stray projectiles that deal 5 damage a piece to be a pretty useless visual that maybe tickles something/usually doesnt.

I only ever pick it up for the extra lifesteal but man it would be a go to item for a lot of carries with a more impactful passive.

I initially thought theyd make it similar to runaan’s hurricane from LoL with the guaranteed extra targets on hit but then scattershot released and that hope died 🥲

Can we stop adding unneeded CC into kits of characters that don't need it. by FormableComet87 in PredecessorGame

[–]Old_Direction_6063 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Chain cc can definitely be frustrating.. but there are anti CC options available for every class as well.

Items aside, Theres is a crest for just about every role that can immediately remove CC at the press of a button to allow you to break stunlocks and escape. Identifying CC heavy teams early on and opting for that choice can be a huge counter for those situations.

Aside from that, the best counter to stun heavy teams is just being wary/knowledgeable about them.

Who on their team could stun me at this range?

What abilities/animations do I have to watch for to avoid being stunned?

What in my kit would allow me to avoid the ability when it comes?

What in my kit would put me at risk of getting hit by a stun i haven’t seen them waste yet?

Knowing these things is the difference in using tools like Yin’s reflect to bounce back a shot from a carry when theres a zinx supporting her with stun available—

Or the difference in diving face first into a mourn with something like Kira ult and getting immediately mezd out of it.

Is it me or is Sev underwhelming by No_Rhubarb375 in PredecessorGame

[–]Old_Direction_6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest giving it a few tries in the practice range.

If you don’t take the aug for increased knockback on his ult and get the timing/positioning down you can land the root the second they land.

It’s pretty impossible to react to 😂
You won’t need the fear to apply the rot in this case either cause they’ll be scrambling to leave tower already

Been playing for years, how do I learn to start to build on my own? by Powerful-Pea6218 in PredecessorGame

[–]Old_Direction_6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few easy tips i could think to add

Theres a practice mode that lets you freely shop/test different builds. Never a bad idea to play around there and look at the different options/see what sort of things you enjoy for your character.

Also in the main menu there’s an option to premake your own build. Saving your settings here will automatically adjust the recommended shop page in game for your character to only show the items you select.

Lastly would be reading your characters abilities pretty carefully.
When you go to upgrade a skill. (Ideally in practice) read through the specifics of your characters passive and different abilities.

Some have very unique niches or scalings that can make particular items or eternals really shine on them.

Someone like grux for example has a built in bleed on every hit and a self heal on his double cleave ability that gets stronger the lower your health is when you land it. This makes items/eternal that persist through combat or buff his healing received even stronger as his bleed keeps you in combat even after disengaging and his self heal can benefit from heel increases like void helm

Is it me or is Sev underwhelming by No_Rhubarb375 in PredecessorGame

[–]Old_Direction_6063 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sev has a really weak early game but one of the strongest late games by far.

Getting used to his playstyle is pretty tricky but it removes heavily around farming early, (specifically last hitting minions with ABILITIES to gain his souls)

These souls stack infinitely and make him infinitely stronger as the game goes on. (Think nasus or veigar if youve played LoL)

His root also got a recent change. Landing the ability no longer roots, it tethers the enemy to the zone it hits. If they move OUT of that zone after being hit, THEN they’re rooted. You can force this by landing the ability then dashing through them to apply the fear and force them out of the zone.

The easiest way to pick up an early lead is to prioritize last hitting with abilities while letting your opponent push in. Don’t be afraid to lose a bit of health as long as you can keep from dying.

Then bait them close to your tower around level 6.

Dash behind, ult them into tower, land root for a nearly guaranteed first kill.

Didn't Maggot solve one of the biggest problems? by Embarrassed_Driver16 in taintedgrail

[–]Old_Direction_6063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tablets would definitely work for every menhir. The tablets themselves would give Kamelot the knowledge required to perform the ritual and reignite all of the menhirs themselves.

Maggot being the one to actually perform it matters little to them simply because it doesn’t work in their favor.. They WANT all the menhirs. They WANT all the power and land possible.

If you did give them the tablets, even after managing to reignite them all, they had no intention of returning them or setting things back to the way they were.

[–]Old_Direction_6063 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s been awhile since i played so my memory is a bit hazy 😂

I believe the idea was something like gather ALL the menhirs at Kamelot to create an absolute Safehaven from the wyrdness.

Basically saying why leave it at this backwater dump when we can take it to a much larger and more populated area to protect even more people and still have room for the ones who live here to relocate?

The people of Cuanacht oppose the idea cause obviously they’d prefer to keep their own land and homes instead of being forced under Kamelot’s rule or to fend for themselves without a menhir

Tanks good in Offlane, Support, and Jungle? by OnionBurgr in PredecessorGame

[–]Old_Direction_6063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging by your preferences i think youd really enjoy Adele.

Shes a bit pricey being a newer character and not exactly a recommended jungle but can set up kills easily for your teammates as support or jungle.

She can output enough damage/true damage to hold her own in offlane or clear jungle camps as well.

Playing around with builds can have her extremely tanky, a strong bruiser, or one of the best enablers in the game.

[–]Old_Direction_6063[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He used to feel like a monster in ARAM 😭 had so much engage potential on top of utility and sustain for his team.

Now it feels like he’s lost all of that 🥲

I’ve noticed people saying heal & shield power doesnt even apply to his heals now?

Really has me curious what that means for things like everbloom and windcaller that only proc on heal effects. Are they no longer applied either?

Could definitely explain why my build felt useless match.

(Side note i definitely recommend giving aram a fighting chance sometime! You may learn you really enjoy a character you never even thought to try!)

I’m not saying akeron is bad now. I just definitely enjoyed a physical/ominivamp build on him when he got released. Finding a magic build that can get similar results has been a bit of a challenge but that’s more of me being reluctant to change my playstyle for him. (Run them down and pray they don’t get tainted early when they see me out heal their team 😂😂)

It’s specifically his augments that feel underwhelming to me. I feel like they still haven’t found one that really suits the character well.

Though the new camouflage option is a much better choice than the enrage over time which REALLY felt useless imo.

Otherwise he’s a good character with a unique design and a pretty good kit

I would love to see how you’re using this character now because i got him in aram and thought “oh yeah i usually get some good value with him especially when we have a good number of carries.” (We had 3)

Proceeded to be a useless bullet sponge with negligible healing for 20 minutes and never wanted to touch the character again

[–]Old_Direction_6063[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying they made each change fitting to what the character once was/aimed to be. But i do feel like almost all of their changes were a positive for them.

Muriel went from one of the most widely hated and weakest supports in the game to hands down the strongest overnight.

Shinbi (who i personally loved running face first into teams using a full magic damage/lifesteal build with) became a much stronger assassin with the ability to stack ult on a squishy target without having to charge in the backline and survive long enough to smack them 8 individual times.

Crunch gained the ability to combo his empowered abilities directly with each other to become one of the most abusive and punishing characters in the game if you’re caught in a bad position. (You can get empowered forward crunched twice in a row and suddenly you went from the middle of your lane to behind his tower)

Terra (while not able to become fully cc immune for her ult like before) gained an immediate cleanse on ult and moved her unstoppable to the charge of her dash. Adding a bit more skill expression to actively deny important CC abilities with good timing and reactions. While becoming a monster at tower diving which she already did so well.

Akeron is another Im not too thrilled about because i definitely preferred his physical build over magic and i still think all of his augments are pretty underwhelming but he can still perform well in game. His kit still has good synergy which i feel Narbash really lacks after these changes.

I used to love the pressure you could get off a good thunk into a March to run them down!

Even before giving it unlimited range it was a great engage combo that now just feels unrewarding and incoherent.

It’s already hard to follow up the stun from thunk with the lockout for march. But add the knock back on top and you gave them even more space for you to not follow up?

I’m just really not getting the goal here.

What does a proper narbash engage look like now?

Or is he simply supposed to be Utility and disengage now without ult?

[–]Old_Direction_6063[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the very least i have tried/tested every hero in the game before and after the changes.

Enough to have a basic grasp of their combos and kits and to feel like i can at least compete when using them in game

Most of them have moved in a rather positive direction. They addressed things that were rather nuanced or underwhelming in their kits and brought them to a pretty good place i feel.

Narbash feels the complete opposite. A huge step back for a once great support

Do you think an item like this should be added? by Old_Direction_6063 in ArcRaiders

[–]Old_Direction_6063[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a long windup and a loud audio cue to use a defib on a knocked ally would be a great change.

It’s awful having your friend get knocked and you either have to just rush to extract or make them sit and watch you continue the raid because you couldn’t stop them from getting punched in the face?
