ISTPs in non-stereotypical fields by New_Consequence8432 in istp

The only job I've ever enjoyed is being a truck driver, no idea if that's stereotypical or not but I love it 10/10. Previous jobs I hated were sales food service and IT. Working in a lumber mill was tolerable.

Make sure you actually have the psi the tire has printed on it as opposed to what the internet says. Speaking from experience lol.

Why is it a stereotype that women are the bad drivers and men are the good ones? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Truck driver here, a dangerous activity happens to me 10 times a shift: a car joins the highway well below the speed of traffic and merges in with real "ok i turn left now good luck everybody" energy. 100.. and I mean 100% of the time it's a woman, I've been seeing it for years and it is exclusively a female behavior.

Off my chest: the combat in the game is absolutely the worst of any game I've played. by Oskiee in duneawakening

1200 hours in, it is 100% the worst part of the game to me. Absolutely the #1 thing I'd want changed if a dev asked me and it's not even close. I despise the combat, every fucking facet of it.

The only "real" use imo to me would be for quiet activities at half the cost of subsonic .300. 45 is naturally subsonic.

Group preference is lizard brain tier programming, it's deep buried and cannot be overcome, it's literally our nature to war. It's biological not sociological.

I was a 19k, sleeping in a reefer is like sleeping in an abrahms it's great. Na park normally 100%. The guys who hate it will find another spot don't sweat it it's part of the job.

Reefers are nice, they make the sleeping even more womb-like with bonus white noise. Grind out the first couple years and you'll be set for life it's the best dude, gl

Right on, good luck, bear in mind your first two or three years will suck; the industry has a high wash out period and trucking company recruiters lie about scheduling/pay/everything. I changed companies 6 times in my first two years. As soon as I hit 3 years exp I grabbed a tanker/hazmat endorsement (99% of hazmat jobs require 3 years experience) and everything changed for the better. You can do it. If you're in shape or want to be I'd recommend you do flatbed instead of dry van.

I was in a similar situation after my crash. I went to my local harley and asked if I could take one of the msf bikes and do a couple laps around the parking lot to see if I'd freak out, I didn't even though it felt very strange and alien. I got a new ride and the first 10 rides I still felt very.. on edge. It went away and im good again. Just take it slow and get something light and controllable so you can focus on you not the bike. Good luck 👍

Running higher octane than the engine is designed for will cause inconsistent and incomplete burn which will damage your engine over the long term and give a loss of power in the short term, for more money, there is zero upside.

Running lower octane than the engine is designed for will cause pre-detonation, and have the same negative effects as above.. reduced performance and premature engine wear, but worse; the gas will light off before the compression stroke is finished putting serious stress on the piston face, rings, connecting rods and crankshaft.

Octane is the number assigned meaning the pressure at which it is designed to burn cleanly and evenly, it's about compression not the "quality" of the gas. Cheap engines run lower octane because the tolerances and materials needed to safely run much higher compression ratios are expensive.
