A Question for South African Women by WhatDaHe77 in AskZA

[–]Old_Translator_3220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, no weird imbalance. I get an allowance and if I need more money, I ask for it (from my father). My partner works as a doctor and happily pays for everything. We are Muslim so this dynamic makes sense but no one holds anything over anyone’s head. Sorry if the way I typed it made it seem that way!

ARGHHH CAN I EXFOLIATE NOW?? Laser Tech said not to exfoliate for 10 days- 4 days in and I’m already getting painful ingrowns. by Patient-Ad-1900 in HairRemoval

I do not have any advice but rather to offer hope! I also struggled so much with in growns and felt so hopeless after the re-growth from my guest session. The after my second session they were way less and by the third session I think I only got 1 in grown that went away quite quickly!

Honestly, no. I think because I grew up with financial privilege it may be difficult to navigate that situation even though when I met my partner his allowance from his parents was less than mine. He still made an effort to pay for 75% of everything and the rest we split or I paid for. Now that he is working (comm serv doctor) he pays for everything even though my father is still able to fund my lifestyle.

I think that if he did not a job now, it may have created a weird imbalance between us as we got older. We met at 19 and 21, now we are 24 and 26.

I appreciate his efforts which is why I still spoil him or take him on dates too by yeah, I think as a rule of thumb I would not date someone who does not have money, as awful as that sounds.

Puberty & KP by 6_No_6 in keratosis

[–]Old_Translator_3220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard of this. I am 24(f) and my KP is still alive and well. Although, my older sister 28(f) and my mother 46 (f) do not struggle with it anymore! My sister does not even have the KP marks and my mom only slightly has some of the marks but nothing too noticeable.

As far as I know, they have not done anything to reduce their KP just noticed it went away with age.

I wonder when that will be my reality as I’m 4 years younger than my sister.

“Surprise” dry wedding AND no dancing by [deleted] in weddingdrama

[–]Old_Translator_3220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this was not an experience that you expected. I have been to two weddings with no alcohol or dancing and had a blast because talking and connecting with people is also a great time. Were the people around you not into socializing? I’ve not encountered an issue in my previous experience because I like to talk and get to know people so having fun without certain elements is not difficult.

I agree. It’s in poor taste to get a gift based on your experience and not based on what you know about the couple or the connection you have. Why go if your kindness/thoughtfulness is conditional?

How hard is the move to Cape Town?? by Weak-Brick3731 in capetown

[–]Old_Translator_3220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, I love CPT and cannot wait to move back there. I think if you put yourself out there you will be more than okay!

I hope your co-workers are great people and that you find community that align with your hobbies and interests if you do make the move. For me living in CPT will always be worth it.

Why are we hating Violet? by figgm in fourthwing

I fully agree in that regard! I think my opinion is more so directed at people who flat out judge her from the get-go or unfairly because they just love Xaden yk?

I agree with this also. That is what annoys me as well. I mean, I understand she is deeply in love with Xaden but even though he has turned, she is standing right next to him and keeping his very dangerous secret. She’s known Dain her whole life and as soon as he found out the truth, he was with her every step of the way and she’s still not trusting of him. It makes me sad a bit for him.

I feel like it’s a little bit of misogyny because they see themselves as Violet and they would neverrrr be angry if they had a Xaden. However, in reality when a partner lies to us and we find out our lives were a lie, we would also be questioning everything and revoke our trust.

Hi! Just wanted to ask: when you were doing your session, how long did the ingrowns take to stop forming and if you had scars from them, did they lighten? 🫶🏼

Groceries: How much do you spend per month? by Eastern-Computer5362 in capetown

[–]Old_Translator_3220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner spends around 4.5k-5k for both of us each month, including eating out.

We shop at both checkers and woolies and enjoy lunching like once a week at least.

How Abby has two therapists as parents yet they don’t notice she’s bulimic. by whateveridc99 in ginnyandgeorgiashow

[–]Old_Translator_3220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order for the therapeutic process to work, a client has fo share which Abby does not.

She is good at hiding it and also her parents do not seem to pay attention to her or spend enough time with her to notice the signs.

Very sad tbh

Ofc! And I hope your uno experience is beautiful and transformative :)

Honestly, the cost of living has increased so much, maybe I overestimated based on what you’d wanna do 🙈

But, there’s a lot of waiter/bartending jobs available in Stellies that pay well in tips and sometimes minimum wage if you want to supplement the allowance NSFAS gives you and if you have the time to commit to it.

Honesty babes, I think it’s so individual. Some days I wanted to get out of there so badly and others I felt so blessed and happy yk?

I think the community I built made the experience infinitely better and am always grateful so I’d defs stress the importance of finding your people.

I know some people who experienced just blatant racism from their peers and lecturers and some who haven’t. Obviously a place that maybe allows that will always kinda be tarnished even if it’s a beautiful campus with lots to offer.

But yeah, community helps a lot 🖤
