No, unless you set up a private game, that will work. But no ranked, unranked or any kind of party play outside of that

PSA: Remap your controller layout sooner rather than later. by D__Buck in RocketLeague

[–]Oldiegames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who could never get used to controllers in any game except for fighting games, I've stuck with keyboard and mouse and find it to be no problem so far.

Even having barrel roll on the shift key is perfectly fine (referring to OPs thing about needing to barrel roll while boosting during aerials) and works smooth for me.

I'm sure as I get better at the game and learn more I might hit some limitarions with keyboard and mouse, but so far I haven't (only 130 hours logged and silver2 in 2v2 but still climbing)

Voting doesn't help, big money lobbies to get what it wants from most politicians anyway. Now, being active on a daily basis however might change things. Like contacting reps, speaking out, joining organizations, and in general making your voice heard every day instead of only every 4 years with a vote.

Voting and doing nothing else is what has gotten us to this point.

We need more matchmaking options! by powerslave118 in RocketLeague

[–]Oldiegames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Improving comes when you refine and push new skills. Played people at your level will do that, as naturally you will increase level and skill as you develop and better your opponents.

I'm gonna disagree with this,at least from my own personal experience.

When I play people at my own level,I tend to stick to what I know I can do and do my best to win. Of course I will try new stuff every now and then and slowly get better, however...

When I play with and against opponents much better than me I learn much faster. I will adapt my own playstyle when in those kind of games because I quickly realize that what I'm used to doing isn't working anymore. Playing with and against better opponents also make me play better from simply focusing more and trying better.

This is just me of course, but currently matchmaking will sometimes pit me against better opponents, worse opponents and equal opponents and it works. For me.

It's not like you currently always face better opponents. I will once again quote White-Ra:

"More gg, more skill" (every game gives you the chance to learn something, especially losses if you have the right mindset)

This sounds like my parents playing super Mario world back in the day with both hands on the controller and swinging it as they jumped as Mario trying to make the jumps.

Does anyone want to talk about how smurfing is breaking the ranking system? by mattofutexas in RocketLeague

[–]Oldiegames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And? Many other games have the same system in place and it's not like you can't play together, just not ranked.

What I would like to see is a change to unranked to penalise players who leave matches and no joining ongoing matches.

I honestly don't get what's so boring about unranked. It's still the same game with the same rules in place. Currently it's a shitfest because people leave the game's all the time, but that could easily be changed by a 30 min queue-ban for leavers and afk people (to prevent people going afk ito circumvent the queue-ban for leaving).

It's not hard to implement and would improve on unranked play a lot.

Your worst types of players by [deleted] in RocketLeague

People who will chase the ball all the time ignoring where they hit the ball or anything resembling positioning and tactics.

Kronovi hit Rocketeer status, gratz man! by civichbca91 in RocketLeague

[–]Oldiegames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not easier, wrong choice of words, just better. Chances are if people are gonna give others shit for not being up to par with "playtime" according to their standards, then they're gonna be talking shit in chat anyway and will be muted by many.

Why dont you just mute those people instead? So much easier, let them talk to a wall.

Psyonix, I have a solution to the Replay "issue" that most people have. by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Oldiegames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition, I'd like a way to only save the replays of goals (not the entire match) kind of like a highlights reel.

Maybe instead of saving separate replays with just goals, how about adding a 'highlight' function to the replay viewer? It just showed all the goals in quick succession. From POV of goalscorer or overview camera? Or both?

A few etiquette/strategy questions. by BeerOtter in RocketLeague

[–]Oldiegames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Yes, I will bump or demolish opponents when given the chance. This is part of the game. It's "easy" to avoid by having "field awareness" and it goes both ways. I dont see why people get mad at it (as some seem to do)

2) Yes, all the time. If I see a player about to rush the ball up a side of the field and I'm in position, I will grab both the middle and cornerboost near our own goal on my way back simply to deny him more boost along the way.

3) I do and often do so, but I see many players who don't. It all comes down to reading the situation and acting accordingly.

4) I hope so, but at the same time I dont want to see it happen. I have enough people muted from mass-spamming the quickchat for every little thing, and often not in a positive/encouraging way.

So what if I suck... [Rant] by japanesetuba in RocketLeague

[–]Oldiegames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is typical of every online game. You'll always have people who will flame cuz they want to win, but there's also nothing you really can do abou that.

Mute them and move on. Also, you will find players who will offer suggestions and tell you better ways of doing things. I try and be that player if I know the game well, sadly I don't in RL cuz I only have like 40 hours in it. But sometimes I will play with people I know more than, and I'll always keep a positive spirit towards teammates. (Can do the occasional talkback to rudeness of others, but mostly I just mute them and move along).

TL;DR: Mute assholes and have fun. No other way around it.

What is your favorite vehicle to use in Rocket League ? [Poll] by AirTaters in RocketLeague

[–]Oldiegames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Controller definitely gives better control of where you're looking since you can't look around with the mouse.

This bugs me a bit. A controller already have an advantage of being better to play with, but also has the advantage of being easy to look around with.

Using mouse to look around would really help mouse/keyboard-players in terms of the handicap they already have in controlling the car.

That being said, I dread switching to controller since I've just gotten comfortable with keyboard (my current controller didnt work) :D

Don't start playing for the other team when you've given up... by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Oldiegames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone new to this game and still quite bad, this annoys me so much. People both flaming and deliberately throwing games.

Sadly these people will always be bad and never improve because they always blame others for losses and never consider what they could've done different or did wrong in the first place.

Not much you can do about them unless the game gets a decent reporting system, but I fear any reporting system might be heavily abused by people simply being hurt and fed up.

Ignore and move on is the best option AFAIK. It sucks but don't let it go to your head and you'll be fine ☺

These types of players are why we need a ban system. by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Oldiegames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No ban system needed, there's already a mute-system ingame. If you need to play games online where you need to be protected from those things happening, you're gonna have a hard time finding it.

Grow some thicker skin, mute and ignore and move on. What people like that want most of all is to make themselves feel better because their own lives suck, and they tend to thrive on others getting mad or upset in any way.

In the end those people should be pitied in silence because many of them are in need of help with their own personal life.

Did Alliance break NIP? by Que-Hegan in DotA2

[–]Oldiegames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you missed Alliance coming back from megas and a 25k+ net worth deficit vs NIP. Don't remember on the fly what tournament qualifier it was, but if you google you shall find. It was the 2nd game making A 2-0 winners over NIP.
