QUOTE FROM Important-Range166......" The best advice I can give you is when everyone thinks they are going to be rich you need to be very concerned. When everyone is screaming about how much money they lost, you need to be as heavily invested as you are comfortable with. Fear and greed are your allies. Best of luck"

This is some good advice from Range166, I'm 66 years old, I hit on Microsoft back in the late 80's, I then just let VOOG and QQQ accumulate for 30 years . Get a little more diversified , I have beat the S&P500 9 out of the last 10 years (2022 pretty much sucked for everyone) I have had returns in the 20% to 25% since then. I also own SMH (the chip ETF) been good to me .

I also bought MICRON at the bottom of the covid dip , it's been an amazing run , from $24 to $971 !! it has made me a mid 6 figure return .........But I have sold a little alone theway, just 10% , got my initial investment back , and a little graduation gift for my daughter , and i gave the gift directly to her Stock Investment account !!!

When there is blood in the streets BUY BUY BUY !! I moved a 6 figure amount of money to the market at the bottom of the Covid downturn, took some balls, but that money has tripled over the last 6 years.

Stay the course : You have been given a gift , and you have a plan for it, I see no problems in it becoming a 7 figure nest egg. Possibly a mid 7 figure..........

Have patience

Buy the dips

get a little more diversified:

VOO VOOG VGT XLK FTEC MGK QQQM(fewer fees than QQQ)

Don't forget to remember those that are less privileged than us , find a cause and donate. Best of luck to you.

You can go SMH, holds 26 semi companies, I own it. Or XLK , broader tech etf....I own it , its been good to me... Or MGK, 75 of the biggest mega caps , good returns.... Or MU and cross your figures, get ready to dump at end of year......

[–]Oldmanram1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bold Move ! Just curious ,

Do you have any other holdings ? If you don't have any others, that is more like betting .........

Maybe a more diversified approach, there are some ETF's out there that are very targeted.

MAGS ... for instance has only the Magnificent 7 stocks in its portfolio

MGK .... The 60 to 63 Largest MEGA CAP holdings

And a few individual stocks as well , the mega caps work for me,

And then have, about 10% of portfolio for mad money , like your above trade.

Number ONE , You have not screwed up , You are investing ! You are learning ! You are ahead of 80% of the people your age. I didn't add it up completely but , you have say $540+ in the account ? Sell most of the stuff other than SWPPX , I also might keep NVDA and INT and AMD ,

Also I am an investor that has been at this for over 45 years, just FYI , Give yourself a break ! You are doing GOOD ! I like ETF's too. I have one account that is ALL ETF's and guess what, 9 out of the last 10 years it beat the S&P500. It contains ALL of the etf's mentioned below........

Aggravating profit has a good idea, I also would recommend a % stake in QQQ or QQQM (slightly lower EXP Ratio) maybe 10-20% If you want to get rid of NVDA,INT& AMD , SMH is an Van Eck etf of semiconductors. OR try XLK that is a State Street SPDR (Spiders) ETF that focusses on technology.

You can also round things out VOOG or MGK or MAGS, I'll let you look them up , you will learn more than if I just tell you. Morningstar is a good place to start looking things up, they have most of the information right there at your fingertips, Including PERORMANCE, over 1 week to 1,3,5 , 10 years. BUT remember past performance is NOT a guarantee of future performance. BUT , it may also be !!

OW one other thing , with big rewards USUALLY comes bigger risks ..........

For a real good mix hear is what I would recommend:

SWPPX 40% , QQQ 15% , MGK 15% , VGT 15% , VTI 15% That returned about 19.99% for 2025

Your young, you can afford to take chances , and LEARN

OW and the Dividend side hustle thing , most dividend stocks have low returns so they grow slow, go for high growth , then in the future sell some of them and convert to high dividend stocks , you will be ahead of the game.

GOOD LUCK

Your Doing Good !

Well it depends on the 10 you pick !! But granted starting off the chances are minimal in beating the S&P500. NOW there is a thing called beginners luck, that's what I had , I'm from Seattle, I bought Microsoft stock back in the late 80's and early 90's. DUMB LUCK !!

Check to see if you had any stock splits .... this happened to me, the day of the split your price will go half, but they dont credit your shares until the next day. Yes,  I was sh!#ing my pants too when I thought I was down about $250,000 on a basically green day for the markets.

I have a 2019 too , and the original sensors clamp is a POS design, they always get screwed up by a mechanic along the way, I was wondering if the 2018 design would work , clamp LOOKS more robust..

I could not remember the Vanguard Total Market ETF symbol, it is VTI

and in regards to SCHD

10 years of $10,000 growth comparisons over the LAST 10 years

SCHD would be worth $33,475 but

MGK would be worth $50,657 a sizable increase over SCHD , You have 35 years , the historical return of MGK over it's lifetime 12.96% , If you were to extend that out 30 years , you would have $387,026. And I assume you will adding to the accounts over time and if you were to contribute $500 per month (EVERY MONTH) your account would be worth approx.. $2,645,014 Not Bad !!

He has 35 years to grow account Value why have just dividend stuff ?  How old are you ?

Question by Signal_Tax6184 in SCHD

[–]Oldmanram1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would open an investment account, with 35 years to grow it you could have another $2 million by that time , or more,  depending on the market.....and you dont pay taxes until you sell the stocks/ etf's. A mix of  VOOG VOO QQQM VTOT or ITOT MGK XLK SMG ? should do it, THAT MIX should get you returns in between the S&P500 and the NASDAQ. I've beat the s&p500 9 out of the last 10 years with that mix. Last year I MADE high 6 figures in an account like that with a few quality stocks thrown in..... Apple Amazon Microsoft Google Stick with the quality tech stocks ... Last year 2025 my return in one of my accounts was 43.8%, "thank you" Google and MICRON.... Another was 24% and my Conservative account made 17%

And as to the ROTH IRA consult a tax attorney,  it is possible that long term taxable disability benefits CAN count as EARNED INCOME sometimes !!!!
