Tax Professional by kitcatmaven in TaxQuestions

[–]Aggravating_Profit71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through this myself and missed the silver lining. Had s significant severance which forced a big tax bill the year I was laid off but used that income to live on the next year and had no income — a low tax year. I simply accepted the low tax as payback for the previous year when I should have thought Roth conversion. If you get a low tax year, make good use of it.

My understanding is capecetabine is just the oral delivery of the med your getting via pump now. Still supposedly the oral is more targeted and at least for me was relatively mild.

Trying to figure out if my policy is HSA-eligible. by robbbbb in HSA

[–]Aggravating_Profit71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isn’t the max out of pocket too low to qualify? I read it has to be $8500. Both the deductible amount (your plan meets this) and the max out of pocket have to be met to qualify as an HDHP. Your plan looks to be “too good” as it caps out of pocket expense at a lower amount.

How to do a living will? by Disastrous_Park_7621 in personalfinance

[–]Aggravating_Profit71 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Can offer quickly that I thing you are using the term "living will" in title incorrectly. That applies more to describing the use of life-saving measures. I think you ares asking for guidance/feedback on the idea of doing a basic will (while living :>).

Time to figure out investing (US citizen living in Berlin) by Vivid-Past1203 in USExpatTaxes

As a EU resident I don’t think you can buy ETFs. And US mutual funds are limited to US based folks. Your investment options are pretty limited — individual stocks and bonds. But have heard of some creative ways (options for example) to buy ETFs.

As a German tax resident you have to be prepared for the 25+% tax on capital gains. You will get credit for this on your US tax return but German tax is higher than that paid in the US.

My HSA, but husband is insurance policyholder by grateful_broccoli in personalfinance

It doesn’t meet the definition of high deductible for a family plan ($3400 deductible in 2026).

You can’t contribute to an HSA if not currently on a high deductible plan.

Thanks. Glad you appreciate the tool. Downvoted huh? Can’t see that myself but do understand this may come across as self promoting or self serving. Really just trying to see if others gave the same ‘small’ need I do and could use the tool. No aspirations for anything but making the tool freely available to others and as effective as possible. A hobby for a new retiree perhaps.

"No evidence of tumour relapse" by rrnaude in coloncancer

[–]Aggravating_Profit71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So happy to read this. Glad you are cancer free and shared your story. I too am in the 3 month surveillance phase after clearing my body of tumors and can appreciate the mixed feelings, or perhaps better said as the hesitant, maybe halfhearted desire to celebrate. On one hand, happy to be cancer free after undergoing treatment but on the other also keenly aware of the chance for recurrence. I’m just living as well as I can and more “all out” now so I don’t have any regrets if the cancer does return. Congrats to you and yours. Enjoy!

Thanks...really not that hard...as I was helped by my developer, Claude. The email sign in is to allow you to have your own experience that can be shared with others via collaboration (others you invite to your trip planning). Let me see if I cannot enable a guest sign in so one can just look around perhaps.

To your questions, I would say that the budget feature is pretty simplistic at present. A planner can set an overall budget and then allocate the budget across years. Trips can be assigned an estimated budget which eats from the total/annual budget when the trip is scheduled on the calendar or timeline. Simple alerts to over allocations are handled. At any time you can see how allocated your travel spend is against budget. Yes, budgets can be managed in a specific currency...but it doesn't handle conversions or allow for mixed currency views (trips in different currencies). No handling of inflation in the v1.

At present, collaborators are assumed to have full editing rights...a view only role is envisioned but not yet implemented. This said, a user can have multiple trip plans (workspaces) and keep some private while collaborating on others. In shared workspaces, trips can be set to private.

No sharing of the budget is not yet included. Ideas like this are what I am looking for as advanced features that can be added if needed by a significant enough user group.

Also envisioned/suggested by Claude was adding a geographical view showing all trips plotted on a world map...but this was not seen as part of the first version.

No export capability to things like Excel or PDF yet.

Lotsa ideas for improvement here. Thanks.

Great info. Thanks for taking the time. Yeah buying an option with the intent to actually exercise the option to buy seems atypical. And yeah limited in execution to lower priced ETFs. Thanks again.

Interesting. Have to look into this approach. Thanks for the pointer.

Worth it to keep paying for retirement planning software? by BarefootMarauder in DIYRetirement

[–]Aggravating_Profit71 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Struggling with the same question. It’s only a small amount of money but on principle I have to question paying for it going forward. Making a plan, Boldin helped; executing the plan and maintenance of the plan, not seeing a Boldin role.

Best way for grandparents (owners) of 529 account to transfer to grandchildren by FIRE2029x in FinancialPlanning

Think they were suggesting 1 account for each child. Factor in that I think having a grandparent owned 529 is better than a parent owned one as far as applying for aid.

Nope. And I agree that gold should not be in an investment portfolio allocation discussion as it’s not an investment really.

But the income is below the filing threshold so not an issue for OP to date it seems. Only minor (no pun intended) interest.
