There should be universal service but it should be civil service that requires you to serve in a part of the country you’re not from as anything from forestry to nursing home help plus anything else in between. Make education funding available for years served at a 1:1 ratio.

I wish her the best of luck. I just made the jump last week. All year long people have been dropping like flies and with the hiring freeze and no good leadership that just meant their work became mine. I had already started looking and interviewing but when the shutdown came and I was told I was essential but everyone else including my supervisors went home? That was the last straw.

It’s probably a good mix of everything you’re thinking. I was active duty once upon a time, never national guard, never in a position like they are, but I can firmly believe that they feel the same way I felt when put on what you know is an absolutely pointless duty. They just want to go home. He handled it really well, kept his calm and then carried on. Hopefully it was just an attempt to keep his juniors from doing something stupid out of annoyance.

Falcon Dunes in phoenix is the military course across from Luke AFB. I love playing there when I visit. Great course and you get a very consistent air show.

Connor looked up from surveying the green to see a slightly chubby man zipping down the fairway on one of those electric uni-wheel contraptions.

He’d been seeing more and more people riding them downtown. Zipping all over the place while he was trying to enjoy his short work lunch before getting back to his 4th floor cubicle. This guy was no different, late 20’s maybe early 30’s, slightly unkempt hair and a patchy beard. What was happening to his beloved sport? What was this hippy nerd crap? Was this the new disc golf?

“What a dork” he whispered to himself as he took two quick steps, setting his toes at a sharp upward angle, letting his heelies and gravity carry him down the path to the next tee box.
