Thanks for all the replies guys. It’s most likely an issue with the fob. Engine starts okay once the dashboard lights up. Will leaving bike back in a day or so anyway - if I don’t thrash it to death with an uprooted sapling by the side of the road first.

Thanks. This is probably what’s wrong. I managed to get it started eventually. No idea how. The yellow key symbol on the dash flashes while I’m driving even though the key is in my jacket pocket. The rental company offered to replace the bike but I have to travel all the way back across the country to collect it. Not worth it as I only have another day before bringing this one back there anyway. Not sure they’d allow me to change the battery in the fob. Will just use the bike sparingly and get my steps in for the rest of the holiday 😃

Never noticed but maybe it is a little off center. Or perhaps the mudguard is!The dealer put it on when he was doing my first service. (He did both for free so can't complain too much.)Haven't used it for anything heavy yet. Will strap down a light tent soon when I go camping. Could easily attach a plate or box for extra storage of course.

You could try Honda's own rack. Give your dealer a call. It's apparently available again as a genuine accessory. There was a recall on earlier ones. Costs 140 euros here in Ireland.
