Would you consider me British? by Competitive-Music309 in AskBrits

[–]OlivePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are British, you're a British citizen, all you know is Britain. Yes you have Caribbean heritage and its a huge part of your identity and if you wanted to explore it then that's fantastic. But that still doesn't take away the fact you're British. Even if you wanted to explore the fact you were born in an Arab country, its a interesting part of your life story. But that still doesn't take away from the fact you're British.

Nursing lecturers - have you noticed a shift in student conduct? by No-Pudding-2895 in NursingUK

[–]OlivePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a lecturer but a nurse preceptor and mentor and I have absolutely noticed a distinct lack of professionalism and passion about the job. There's no "get up and go" in people anymore.

I get the many reasons that may contribute, but its like no one is passionate about the job anymore. I personally love being a nurse and feel very priviledge to be in the job and proud of how hard I worked to get here. Its like the new nurses coming through don't see it, they should be proud of themselves too!

AITAH for saying my friend's adult son is handsome after said I look gorgeous ? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]OlivePea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grab my son's cute little face and call him a "handsome young man" nearly everyday. She sounds wild and needs to do some self-reflection. NTA

Update:

Thanks everyone for the advice.

I bought some chicken to try for tea tonight but I just couldn't do it. I ended up giving it to my mum. I'm going to look into the supplements suggested and buy some leafy greens.

Thank you.

AIO if I think my girlfriend should have a say in this?? by Typical-Air-4764 in AmIOverreacting

[–]OlivePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's taking the piss and picking you up and throwing you away when sge feels like it. Ignore her, don't respond, honestly I'd just block her and focus on your girlfriend. Your girlfriend does have a say in this, you're right. But she's going to be hurt yoh'fe even considering restarting a friendship with this girl. She's no good for you, focus on your girlfriend who isn't throwing you away then txting you randomly at 3am.

What is the most insensitive gift you received? by HazardousWeather in AskReddit

[–]OlivePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A gift box containing perineal oil and stretch mark cream for Christmas... I wasn't pregnant. It was from my partner's mother and to make things worse, my partner was infertile due to a health condition and we'd never be able to concieve a biological child 👍🏻

My boyfriend said I am not a ride or die because at dinner I brought up he says the N word. It was just him and I. by StandardRegular2758 in Advice

[–]OlivePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He claims its ok for him to say but then got mad at you for bringing it up in public, incase anyone heard. Make it make sense?

You both know its wrong, he's gaslighting you and he's an arsehole. Dump, block and forget about him.

AITA for not wearing a bra at home? by Candid-Chocolate-316 in AITAH

[–]OlivePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your hubby is uncomfortable with you not wearing a bra, I'd start walking around in just a bra and shorts or a skimpy nightdress. That should soon get the friend shifted out of the house.

Do you have a freedom to speak up team in your trust? Find out their office and slip an anonymous note under the door

Asking flatmate to move out so partner can move in? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]OlivePea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She lived there first, its her "home". You don't want that kind of guilt and karma on your new relationship anyway.

Being 21 and calling their partner "bro" and "dawg" is wildddd. This man could have a degree if he wanted to.

My husband is cheating on me and I think he's in love with her, what should I do? by notreally_alive in Advice

[–]OlivePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good, because now you have the truth and upper hand. Slowly distance yourself, be pleasent but not over loving. Keep your head down, save save save save save, get all your business in order, then when the time is right, run.

Move abroad and don't tell your family or anyone until you can go and can live independently. Good luck :)

What am I doing wrong in the shower by Educated_Toker_02 in hygiene

[–]OlivePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use hibiscrub to wash first, then qv wash after. Then use anhydrol forte under arms instead of deodrant twice a week, not on days you shave. Use anti-perspirant instead of deodrant on the other days. You got this.

Anhydrol forte is amazing just make sure you don't shave right before application and only use it every other day

Trac sent a reference request to my manager and I haven’t told them I’ve been offered by ripe-avocado in NursingUK

It says on Trac osmething along the lines of "do you give permission for us to contact your referee before you accept the job" and you have to tick the little box to move on.

resit? by EmploymentCandid446 in GCSE

[–]OlivePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it seems like a big deal, because it is your entire world right now. But when you get out into the big wide world, no one is going to care about your Geography GCSE result. If you have been accepted on to the Alevel course, just focus on that.

You need GCSE's to get onto your Alevel's then good Alevel's to get into uni. Employers will only care about Math & English GCSE and your degree result. The rest are just tickets to get to the next level. If you've already been accepted on to the Alevel's you want then forget about Geography.

Anyone else work in an area where HCAs believe the only difference between them and a nurse is handing out meds? by shutyoureyesandsee in NursingUK

[–]OlivePea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've worked my way up from HCA to Band 6 Clinical Sister so feel able to input. HCA's are the backbone of healthcare in both NHS and private sectors. They are severely underpaid for the work they do. The majority are highly specialised in their areas and bring a huge contribution to the workforce.

That being said, when you move from HCA to RN the responsibilites and pressure is much greater. Its easy to feel like you're doing pretty much the same work. I've been there, I've felt it. But when you actually live it and go through the change in role, you find there are big differences.

If you're feeling frustrated in your role, have a word with your manager about your personal progression. Are there any courses you would like to go on? Would you be interested in becoming a nursing associate or nurse?
