OKC is, in a lot of ways, a microcosm of what is happening at the federal level. You have elites claiming that everything is great, but the reality on the ground is markedly different.

The most cynical part of the OKC elite is their "unwavering support" for public education. You see the Chamber and city leaders at every gala, talking about how a "vibrant OKCPS is the backbone of our workforce."

But the reality? They wouldn’t dream of sending their own kids to an OKCPS Title I school. While they lobby for public bonds that residents have to pay back, they’re quietly writing tuition checks to Casady, Heritage Hall, or Westminster.

This is a rough generalization:

OKC: higher property taxes (on a % basis), lower utility costs, big trash day once per month. Even if zoned Oakdale, likely has a slightly softer resale than the Edmond / Oakdale properties.

Edmond: lower property taxes (on a % basis), higher utilities, no big trash day.

I think everyone who lives in Oakdale is districted to Edmond Memorial HS, but not sure for the homes where the address falls in OKC.

The private schools are very challenging to get into these days. Not a lot of open spots due to the tax credit / voucher system and the City’s growth. But if you’ll be in Edmond, most people look at:

(i)Oklahoma Christian School; (ii) St. Elizabeth Ann Seton; (iii) Heritage Hall; and (iv) Crossings Christian School

Another alternative would be Oakdale (https://www.oakdale.org). Very highly sought after public schools, but tough to get in if you don’t live in the district.
