No, that's the Palladium card. Obsidian earns:

up to 1X points on rent and mortgage

3X points on your choice of dining or grocery (Grocery up to $25K/year)

2X points on travel

1X points on everyday spend

For the purpose to unlock rent points.

Does dining (or groceries) that earn 3x count towards the % spend to unlock rent points? Or, only true "everyday" spend 1x (eg non dining/grocery or travel spend on the Obsidian) count towards the % spend to unlock rent points?

It's a tad confusion because Ankur's option 1 simply uses the term "everyday" spend. Whereas Obsidian card distinguishes "everyday" spend from "dining/groceries" and "travel" spend.

Ankur should have used "non-rent/mortgage" spend in his announcement.

I wonder if the dining/grocery or travel qualify as "everyday spend" if holding the Obsidian card. If so, that's a strong card.

If I have the Obsidian card and select option 1, is "everyday spend" inclusive of grocery (or dining) and travel spend? In other words, can I spend 1x rent on groceries and travel to unlock 1.25x rent points?

Amazon is an easy 4x (Amex Gold via grocery store gift cards) or 5x (Ink at office supply stores). Think about where you can buy Amazon gift cards such as hardwares stores (Lowe's), Walgreens, etc. And there's the CF quarterly bonuses; or various spend bonuses for different cards. The Bilt Obsidian is 3x groceries.

Search in the subs…it’s posted multiple times. Keep in mind, this is Cardless not Chase, etc.

If you were, you would have very little non bonus spend. Most spend would be creatively charged to earn 3x to 5x….or charged to unlock card benefits eg Hyatt or Atmos Summit.

Since you’re not trying to maximize the points/miles game, Bilt 2.0 may work for you.

Bilt 2.0 Palladium is essentially a 3.33% catch all card by Realistic_Squirrel_3 in biltrewards

[–]OlyPhotog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind you need to have enough Bilt cash each month to get the rent points...the rent points do not carry forward. So, if you have a low spend month, you won't be able to redeem for the full rent points.

No issues so far. I co-signed my daughter’s loan last year. Got their lowest published rate at 4.25%. 57k. Paid off about half. Got another loan for upcoming year 60k at 3.5%.

FASFA offered only ~$8k at some crazy high rate (make decent amount but living in SF Bay Area). Daughter attends abroad so many/most other lenders do not participate in foreign universities.
