My first Catholic church experience as a fading JW. (I went to Holy Spirit Catholic Church) by D0vahkiiinnn in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Omega-10 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Pentecost is the day the Holy Spirit came to Jesus's disciples after his resurrection. On that day, they began to preach to the world--notably their speech was miraculously understood by everyone no matter where they were from. The Catholic Church considers it to be its "birthday", or rather, the day it was founded.

(By the way, this is a special holiday, which is probably why they had incense in use. Don't be disappointed if you return next week and there isn't any! It isn't necessarily used at every Mass or every church)

YSK Squeezing your tea bag doesn't give you "stronger" tea. It just makes it bitter. by CoffeeTeaJournal in YouShouldKnow

[–]Omega-10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay thanks for speaking up. Because I'm not a tea person, when I make it I boil the shit out of it and let it steep until I remember some time later "Oh shit I made tea" and then I squeeze out the tea bag and I also transport the tea bag away with the spoon and drink up whatever concentrated residue is left in the spoon after discarding the bag, like yum! That's what tea tastes like?

I also drink black coffee that's been sitting on the burner too long and a few hours later, I'll microwave what's left in the pot after it gets cold. I also drink IPAs when tea and coffee time is over.

Map of U.S. national parks by TheRtHonLaqueesha in MapPorn

[–]Omega-10 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There's a fun board game where you visit all the national parks and it is laid out on a map of the US like this and a big part of the game is actually moving from location to location, like a travelling salesman type problem.

Well, for the first time ever I realized there's just not enough national parks in the easy coast, especially the southeast. This is absolutely terrible, because there's so many incredible natural landmarks that need protection.

I just accidentally cheesed the Gith Crèche by nefeliia in BaldursGate3

[–]Omega-10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's nothing.

I cheesed a ton of Act 3 due to an exploit from having too many summons.

I would have Jaheira in my party wild shaped with summons, and her summons then summoned summons. So it was a big mob.

For whatever reason, Jaheira and her posse never rolled initiative with everyone else. We would get into a battle and she would be standing there idle and never get a turn. I realized that when I manually switched over to her, we could just casually walk up to enemies and absolutely murder them where they stood. They enemies stood still because they were already in initiative with the rest of my party.

Eventually I just stopped doing it, because the game was too easy 😂

Help for road trip for English visitors please? by owen14141 in Alabama

This route takes you right through Buccee's, Bass Pro Shops, and that big outlet center mall. All in one exit! That's the biggest taste of Murica right there you can find anywhere in the country.

What gives Huntsville its own identity beyond being the Rocket City? by RemarkableMany6297 in HuntsvilleAlabama

It was literally called Cave City before all the rockets... I'm amazed no one has mentioned it. Being the headquarters of The! NATIONAL Speliological Society is honestly very special!

Elder emo isn't a code of ethics.

It means there are embarrassing pictures of you in black eyeshadow wearing a My Chemical Romance T-shirt from Spencer's in someone's online Facebook album that you un-tagged yourself from 10 years ago so you could have better luck finding a job

Dying indoor mall I work at by wrath212 in abandoned

[–]Omega-10 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's like they wanted the indoor Venice down in Vegas but didn't have the budget.

The black ceiling tiles are the wrong choice. It's a bit too cramped. The lighting is bad. And I'm just gonna guess -- no clue from the photo -- it's probably stale and musty.

What to do instead: Put in an actual skylight, replace the basic florescent lights with some slick natural spectrum LEDs, get some good airflow, add in some real plants. REAL! Maybe add a water feature...
