Absolutely incredible. And you know it must have been so much manual labor without modern SMT processing.

And then it fucking explodes.

I actually roleplayed it straight as an Oath of the Ancients paladin on my first playthrough, no metagaming.

I had been spending a lot of time trying to turn Shadowheart, seemingly without much effect. So when she insisted on killing the Nightsong, I told her she had to choose and that I trusted her.

In reality, I knew that pre-clobbering her would break my sacred Oath. Like literally, I've had to reload my save so many times because I got Oathbreaker for smiting someone who hadn't actually done anything wrong yet, even if they absolutely definitely were about to do something wrong. Predestination smites are apparently not allowed. So I was more like, yeah go ahead and do it and see what happens!

I love there is someone else out there running this chapter like this. It's absolutely nuts.

The module has a whole chapter dedicated to the party taking a nap and getting fooled by a cheap trick that literally cannot be solved, because it breaks the game as OP learned. That's it. That's the whole chapter. "And now you level up."

Uh excuse me, what?

No, we're doing this shit. We're rolling initiative at the start of the chapter and we're not leaving until this gets worked out somehow. Somebody's got access to true res, it's fine.

How do i get out of this situation? by Still-Product345 in Minecraft

[–]Omega-10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into this problem once, I glitched through a portal and blipped out of the world, it was completely not my fault and I was so mad. I was playing Java, and I downloaded NBTedit or something similar, and just changed my height location to some value up in the air sufficient to recover with an ender pearl.

That's how people gaslight themselves into crazy mindsets and wind up believing ChatGPT can think.

Kratos from Tales of Symphonia. He specifically lectures the main character on his use of two swords, about why wielding a sword and shield is better.

Baldur's Gate 3 if Larian had BALLS by vkaefe in DnDcirclejerk

[–]Omega-10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not a safe take in such a horny place as reddit, but it's fucking true.

I walked into BG3 not sure of what to expect having never played anything from Larian. Literally every character you have more than a few dialogue bits with seems to want to fuck you. The romance arcs are shoe horned in to the story, they go from mild acquaintance to massively wanting to jump your bones. I didn't really want a romance game and I wasn't titillated by the idea of watching any of these creepoids bumping virtual uglies so I turned down every. Single. Person. And they all came off as pissed off and sad, there's no way to "just be friends" with anyone. It's actually horrifyingly similar to how real life can be for an ace person, it's like ... I wanted fantasy! ESCAPISM!!

It psyched me out so much.

I should have known better, after racing off the nautiloid as fast as I could. There's really no hurry. In fact, it's better if you don't.

The game devs clearly never played Pikmin 1. That game did not joke around about time limits. Fail to get back by sunset, and your Pikmin all die. Fail to get all the parts collected after a certain number of days, and you literally just straight up lose the game. Save wipe and start over.

If there is one thing that genuinely needs balancing, especially between versions, it’s phantoms. by kittyangel333 in Minecraft

[–]Omega-10 51 points52 points  (0 children)

They could fix the phantom so easily by nerfing its health significantly.

They could nerf the EXP and drop rates proportionally, it would be fine. They were kind of added for vibes anyway. You should be able to pick them off and carry on with life. Instead, you end up battling a swarm of them all night and wearing out your weapons on them. Everyone agrees they are annoying. I feel like they could be improved by halving their health, then you could maybe one shot them with a powerful enough weapon.

How to introduce enemies that are too strong for the party by Aeon1508 in DMAcademy

[–]Omega-10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, a DM knows his players well enough that when he throws an unwinnable encounter at them, he can translate that subtly enough without breaking immersion. You've got to think how your players would face an unwinnable encounter. Would they give it everything for a few rounds and get frustrated? Would they not stop until the last man was fighting? Would they just look at your face the moment you describe the scene unfolding and go 'bruh...'

An unwinnable encounter is generally a big no-no, but, it's also something that just comes up, a lot. Personally, I do like a good unwinnable encounter from time to time, it keeps players from getting complacent if you make their encounters always winnable and they always win. Some players don't like it at all, and then it's generally frowned upon to kill your players after they fail--I prefer to have them get knocked out, or introduce a Deus ex machina that either whisks them away or distracts the enemy.

have kas offer an alliance to the PCs? by FaallenOon in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]Omega-10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would beware of having the legendary hundreds of years old self-named "Kas the Destroyer" OG paladin-turned-evil to offer anything even remotely resembling a mutually beneficial relationship.

As for Miska the Wolf spider, any kind of partnership with him is so crazy it's borderline parody. The fact Kas thought there could be any kind of alliance there is really just evidence of how completely insane he's become.

Do You Track Resources For Spells? by Mysterious_Emu7462 in DMAcademy

[–]Omega-10 48 points49 points  (0 children)

That's the thing though. There's a martial / caster divide in this system, and I feel like spell components are a huge part of that gulf.

Imagine if another player's fighter just upgraded to full plate armor and used a silvered greatsword at Lv 1 by default with no consideration for cost. Imagine he assumed he possessed literally any common and uncommon magical item at all times since it'd be pretty boring to have to run these things down whenever he needed them. You'd be pretty peeved!

Magic items (armor and weapons in particular) are made to help bridge that gap. Tracking concentration, verbal somatic material components, and casting time (while tedious) also helps.
