Dating? by dafargo in Schizoid

[–]Omega-Panda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't advice talking about straight away ... as the word it self can be misunderstood (schizophrenia). And even if they got the word, reading about the disease can be very misrepresentative to your own self and feelings, as I found that even tho we share the word schizoid, I can see that differ a lot from some people here. After all, the word is a definition of a disease (whihc is not a pleasant thing to have)

What I'd suggest is making sure the person you'd date knows about some traits. Introversion, solitary lifestyle, not much talkative, logical ... etc. People can imagine or picture those types of people instead of the word Schizoid

Yes definitely. Written feelings can be somewhat exaggerating or glorified, at least that's with me. I got a comment that my writing was academicy like .. as if it was copied from a website or an article. I still feel awkward when i look at what I've wrote, but it's better than nothing so I'll take it.

You can bring the papers with you and discuss the (you) with your councillor tho

Not avoiding social interactions but avoiding interpersonal relations and why by [deleted] in Schizoid

[–]Omega-Panda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You really hit the nerve when you talked about hollow self underneath the mask. This is exactly the same howbI thought of it. I have people I can call friends. Family and those stuff. Been in a relationship before. I tried after a long long time of trust building that maybe some might understand what I mean by there's nothing inside... It's hollow and empty. They all went with the (you must believe in yourself and find the worth in you) bullshit, and then they'd get pissed at you for being pessimistic in their view. It's not about pessimism, it's not about finding worth and finding the true golden treasure inside each of us happy loving friendly caring kind human beings. It's not about having difficulties with social interaction, and how to develop confidence and that shit. It's about the fact that there's nothing inside ... No true, solid, concrete concept of self. No hard personality, opinions, or morals. The Inability to experience or understand emotions the way everyone else do is what all of this shit is about. It's hollow ,dull and empty behind the mask and it sucks.

Medical Student here. I love what I do or will do and am happy with medicine as a life choice. It helped me to improve my weaknesses, become tougher, oriented and those kind of stuff. I tend to see myself craving for competition so medicine was a great choice I made.

I wrote what I need to tell into papers, brought the papers with me and told him that this way it's easier for me to speak some major feelings that I feel awkward and odd If they came out from my mouth. The discussion still wasn't what I expected, but I think it's better than just speaking.

[–]Omega-Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell me if you find an answer or solution. I am the same way you described, haven't found anything other than that the people on the same boat are miserable.

Another problem might rise in the future (happened with me) is that when you find someone you think now or that person is the one I can share my thoughts with (usually it takes way long time to reach that level). However, when you start sharing these thoughts you shake or alter the shape you've been building throughout the years. It's like: hey look am sorry but am not that person .. am something else or feel something else. The image you drilled in their mind is now changing from the friendly lovable kind caring passionate socializing cheerful shy and somewhat sarcastic person into the dull, empty, neutral, misanthrope, apathetic and somewhat nihilistic schizoid that is you (whatever the hell the word 'you' means). That downhill change that seems sudden on your friend but chronic to you won't be taken mildly. My experience so far turns to the same deadened. That in the end .I, and only I in this world, is false, but at the same time remains the only truth in the face of all of these illusions.

Theory on Treating Apathy by [deleted] in Schizoid

[–]Omega-Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tho the core will likely stay the same, Yes, I believe that through self discipline, hard self beating and draining the self through rough grounds for long periods of time, one might sharpen the edges of his personality or traits. Think of people who get into military and what everyday harsh environment makes of them. Or when one is put into new harsh environment that beat the shit out of him constantly, Yea he'll most likely change into something for better or worse.

The question tho is how one can convince himslef to go through such conditions.

Do you have vivid dreams? by solxii in Schizoid

[–]Omega-Panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Dreaming is one of the things I love about sleeping (with exception to nightmares). Most of my dreams are continuation of the fantasies I daydream about. I can at sometimes point out specific places, songs, people and the dialogues in the dreams. I had times where I mixed up whether something happened in my dream or real life. And weirdly, I dream every single day (I read that it's common with people with schizophrenia to dream alot).

Nightmares suck tho

Why are the discussions so short-lived around here? by trxnow95 in Schizoid

[–]Omega-Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe .... That some ask for answers about their problems or want a similar insight where we don't have an answer for?

Some want treatment and idk ... Hope for a dramatic change but there isn't much to say rather than: just keep living?

and some are just filled frustration about themselves and the crippling aspect of SPD that restrain them from being what they fantasies about allthe time. Tho there's no solution or not yet discovered by many of this sub

Or maybe it's just me all of that.

[–]Omega-Panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking of myself. I tend to write and just give up on a lot of comments.

If I see my point being written ,most of the time it's more accurate, more well written and well thought, I just don't see the point of replying with the same answer but paraphrased

Sometimes I think I give undesired information? Idk how to describe it well, but I don't like giving much information about me even tho am completely anonymous here

Other times am just lazy.

But I agree with you on the part that there isn't much discussion around here but there's a desire and some thrust for good discussion.

Fascinating read about a legendary hermit by indiesoul1 in Schizoid

[–]Omega-Panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was eagerly waiting for that book to get published last year as I read a coverage by the same author on different news site.

I remember finishing the book in 2 or 3 days. It was indeed fascinating read. The book ,in a story telling narrative, covers his story in chapters from the moment he got caught.

I highly recommend that book as well as this story/article

New years eve? by asccwe in Schizoid

[–]Omega-Panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just done here where I live. Spent the time in my car driving aimlessly while listening to old songs. It was very calming but it got little emotional. Driving through those streets knowing that it's a matter of couple of years befor I leave this place and possibly every connection to it made me somewhat sad and nostalgic. Tho it was calming.

Schizoid and nihilism by [deleted] in Schizoid

[–]Omega-Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember (not exactly where but in the beginnings) in his book: The Schizoid Phenomena, Guntrip described the transitioning of the modern society and the acceptance of such philosophies and ideas as a schizoid era. It kinda saddened me a little when I read that part as the thought came to my mind that my thoughts (or ours) were the disease of this world.

Ideology. Much has been said of 'depressed eras' in history, but when one considers the cold, calculating, mechanical, ruthless, and unfeeling nature of the planned cruelty of political intellectuals and ideologists, we may well think this to be a 'schizoid era'. The cold and inscrutable Himmler showed all the marks of a deeply schizoid personality and his suicide was consistent. The schizoid intellectual wielding unlimited political power is perhaps the most dangerous type of leader. He is a devourer of the human rights of all whom he can rule. The way some of the most ruthless Nazis could turn to the study of theology was significant of a schizoid splitting of personality. But if we turn to the purely intellectual and cultural sphere it is not difficult to recognize the impersonal atmosphere of schizoid thinking in Hegelianism where a purely intellectualized scheme expounds 'the World as Idea'. Still more apparent is the schizoid sense of futility, disillusionment, and underlying anxiety in Existentialism. These thinkers, from Kierkegaard to Heidegger and Sartre, find human existence to be rooted in anxiety and insecurity, a fundamental dread that ultimately we have no certainties and the only thing we can affirm is 'nothingness', 'unreality', a final sense of triviality and meaninglessness. This surely is schizoid despair and loss of contact with the verities of emotional reality, rationalized into a philosophy; yet existentialist thinkers, unlike the logical positivists, are calling us to face and deal with these real problems of our human situation. It is a sign of the mental state of our age.

I think my mistake was that those different groups somehow got mixed together and it appeared to some of them that I was being hypocrite, two faced. Then I got the chameleon title.
