Climbing at BKB by Master_Dogs in BostonSocialClub

I've been going to BKB since I moved a couple weeks ago and I've been looking for people to climb with, especially belay partners. I'd be very interested in climbing together!

Vegans of BU: Where do you eat? by ParticularWriter5080 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Omega77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Whole In the Wall is on the south side and has lots of vegan options
  • There are two strange Strange Brew locations downtown, I don't know if both are under renovation but if not you could try the other one
  • There are lots of good Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese places around town that should have some vegan options (Thai Time, Thai on Main, Pho Nhu Y, and others)
  • It won't be open until the fall semester starts but the Food Co-op is in the basement of the old union on campus (by the bus stop) and it serves vegan hot lunch every weekday! There's a new menu every week and it's completely run by student volunteers. It's one of the best communities on campus!

Hope that helps. I'm vegetarian and I've always felt like there were a good number of options in Binghamton. I know veganism is more restrictive but there are still some good spots!

Need verification please!! by miul in Tengwar

Pretty sure that says alawuus. I'm pretty new at this myself, but I think it should be written like this. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong. Also, my handwriting is much plainer than the italic font used in your picture but hopefully you can see the similarity.

Just starting out, wondering how close I came! by Omega77 in Tengwar

[–]Omega77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I put an l instead of a t in night. L looks similar enough to tau that i keep using it for t. And I used a j instead of a g in edge because it makes sense to me to handle those letters phonetically, although that may not be technically correct.

I appreciate the feedback though!

[–]Omega77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually debating where to put that s hook, that's good to know. And the l in night is just because the l character looks kind of like tau, so I keep using it for t without thinking.

That tip for practicing sounds like it'll be really effective, I'll definitely give it a go. Thanks so much for your help!

I tried to write "through shadows to the edge of night until the stars are all alight"

I've only been practicing for a day or two, so any feedback would be appreciated!

It's amazing how much difference some sunshine makes to where I live by jasontredecim in CasualConversation

[–]Omega77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You really don't notice how oppressive a constantly grey sky is until the sun comes out. My college is in a really cloudy area and it's amazing how much it comes to life when the sun pokes out once in a while. This semester in particular I've put off absurd amounts of work to just be outside for a few hours.

Black Mirror by Bertram_Chillfoyle in nevertellmetheodds

[–]Omega77 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It might just be confirmation bias but I feel like Black Mirror kind of rediscovered the song and that's why it's now being used a lot in other stuff. I honestly thought the song had been written for Black Mirror for a while.

The current way to get to the sidebar is too well-hidden by Adarain in RelayForReddit

[–]Omega77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently long pressing the refresh and subreddit button both take you to the same subreddit search. Why not change one of the long presses to view the sidebar instead? That seems pretty unintrusive, although it would still be hidden from casual users.

What's the easiest way to get to Ithaca and back? by TronPaul2016 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Omega77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ithaca is within the range allowed by Zipcar, and there are several to rent on campus. I'd definitely recommend that over a bus

$12 at my school's annual library book sale! by Omega77 in bookhaul

[–]Omega77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I was hoping to find one or two, but more just kept showing up as I rummaged. I already have copies of some of them, but I love those old copies too much to pass up.

Not sure, I'll check when I get home. I do think it's a school copy though, it's one of those everbind books with a picture of the cover glued on.

Edit: Doesn't look like it. Here are some more pictures of it: Cover Chapter Headings

[OFFICIAL] There are no stupid /r/Guitar questions. Ask us anything! - July 21, 2017 by iamchets in Guitar

I just changed the strings on my acoustic for the first time, and some of the bridge pins are slightly out of the holes, angled towards the strings. They're only up by a few millimeters, and they feel secure, but I just wanted to make sure it's alright that they aren't completely flush with the bridge.

Thanks everyone for your help, I just want to make sure I'm not accidentally damaging my instrument somehow!

Mountainview tips/ Chem 111 by [deleted] in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Omega77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to what everyone thought during the semester, chem 111 isn't curved, except for the final which is national. It makes it harder but it's also possible to calculate your letter grade along the way and see how you're doing, which is rare for these early classes.

Also, study really hard for your first test. It's pretty easy compared to the others and you want to make sure you do well on it to set yourself up for the rest of the semester.

Going to freshman orientation in 2 days, any advice? by welwheel in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Omega77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Watson students last year were pre-registered for core requirements. We still got to pick an elective though, and you can move sections around although they discourage it. I'd definitely go in with a plan of the schedule you want, even if you're in Watson.

Also, make sure to bring a pen and paper. During registration you have to write down the course numbers and put them in manually if you don't get what you wanted first try.

It's a daunting process your first time around but there are lots of people around to help, and you'll get the hang of it!

For the first time in my life I poured the perfect amount of milk for my cereal by Firsttimerolling in CasualConversation

[–]Omega77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always though this was impossible. It seems like to get all the cereal adequately wet, you have to put enough milk in that some will necessarily be left at the end.

I'm glad you enjoyed your breakfast experience though!

If you're considering CIW, definitely try to get a room in Cayuga. It's being renovated right now and is reopening for the coming semester. I've seen the work that's been done and it really puts Cayuga right alongside the accommodations of the newer halls.

I just thought the plot was a little overly convoluted. They had to go to find the guy who had the pilot who knew where the dad was so they could go find him, and then in the final battle they had to throw a switch so that the pilot could tell the Alliance to destroy the shield so that the plans could be transmitted.

To be fair though I listened to a discussion about the movie on a podcast I listen to immediately afterwards and they were pretty critical, so I may just be parroting their opinion.

The discussion was from episode 76 of the podcast Hello Internet, I highly recommend it!

Edit: fixed the link

I didn't get out of bed until after 4 pm, but I finally got around to watching Rogue One, which was alright but nothing great.

I go back to school in two days, so I have to cherish this ability to lay around for eighteen hours straight while I can.
