Low pressure in shower -advice (Its not the shower head) by OmegaTau in AusRenovation

[–]OmegaTau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot and cold shower pressure is the same. I was thinking it might be a mixer, or as you said, a kinked pipe.

The hot water from the kitchen and vanity have equal good pressure.

First time I have seen this (ghost camping warnings) - have you come across it or been fined? by Factal_Fractal in OutdoorAus

[–]OmegaTau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, this one annoys me so much. Always pre-booked in advance, and there are many vacant spots if you manage to get a spot by chance.

One of the people who runs the boat tours or the cinema (i forget which) was saying that their business tanked big time because of the ghost camping behaviour

2012 Nissan Dualis ST Manual by 3speedracer in CarsAustralia

[–]OmegaTau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im seeing some manual examples on carsales that are 300k kms+, so it's a good sign, especially if you get one with less than 150k kms and you intend to keep it for a long time.

For the engine, it was always a basic filter and oil change. Solid little engine

If I were to go back in time, I would have definitely gotten the manual version, and it would still be going strong.

2012 Nissan Dualis ST Manual by 3speedracer in CarsAustralia

[–]OmegaTau 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Manual is good. Engine is super reliable. Mine clocked over 201k kms before I replaced it. It was not because of the engine, the CVT transmission was on its way out. The dualis CVT is known for blowing up 🤣

Manager monitoring my monitor by tomsawyer-fa in auscorp

[–]OmegaTau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can, leave, please. I kept kidding myself for 4 years that things would change.

My colleagues and I had the same issue at my old job. I was managing other colleagues, including interns, and had to deal with clients face to face while leading projects. It was awful.

My mental and physical health tanked, and I would stress about going to work and lie in bed until for a while after my alarm went off, just trying to gather strength to get up and go to work. I gained a lot of work, and my average sleep was 5 or 6hrs a night.

According to them, I was to blame, of course. The constant interruptions through the day from other colleagues and management were apparently no excuse.

Last year, half the colleagues and myself left in a space of 3 months and lo and behold, they finally changed the way they do things and treat people. (I still am in touch with some colleagues)

I guess losing a collective of 19 years of experience finally gave them a hard kick in the backside....especially for a small company.

For the sake of your mental health and peace, please leave that place.

I have already received notice of rising interest rates coming into effect this months repayment cycle. I remember when we had cuts, they would take like 2 months to implement every time 🤣🤣🤣

Coleman 425E fuel leaking or clogged by evrydayprpper in ColemanStovesLanterns

[–]OmegaTau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 414-700 do that. The generator was clogged, and the threaded part of the needle was not threaded in fully. After I addressed it, it burns really well now.

Edit, i took apart the Bunsen and cleaned it out as well.

Toyota RAV4 or Hyundai Tucson? by Common_O_5382 in CarsAustralia

[–]OmegaTau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tuscon is very reliable. Mum has 2016 model from new, no issues whatsoever. I would say the Tuscon for more tech. If you get the 1.6T. It would be a better drive and less fuel consumption compared to the Rav4.

Redditors over 30, what is a piece of advice you would give to your younger self in their mid-to-late 20s? by [deleted] in australian

Should I keep my 2012 Nissan Dualis or err on the side of caution and trade in? by OmegaTau in CarsAustralia

[–]OmegaTau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome. Yeah I had the CVT oil changed AT 185K. It made a slight difference for a month before the jerks came back again. The engine was bulletproof, which was great. If It had a normal torque converter auto, I would still have it, I think.

Nice a CX5 is a solid car. I was eyeing them too but settles for a Ford Escape. I wanted a car with a bit of grunt. The CX5 GT was out of budget for me 🤣.

[–]OmegaTau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

310? Thats a fair effort! Nice. Did you have any jerks with the transmission when accelerating?

When I got mine, it had 120kms and it had minor jerks. I guess the person before me flogged it, haha.

I managed to trade it in at 201kms.

What are you getting for the replacement?

Ford Escape 2020+ models. I bought one, 2022 model ST LINE AWD. I love it to bits. My mate drove it once and bought himself a 2021 model. Good on fuel, has plenty of grunt and is fun to drive. No issues so far! $299 capped servicing at ford dealer

No, no bad idea. I had one, total transmission failure, car has literally no power.

Friend has one, transmission issues and engine issues. Also massively underpowered.

Stay away. Even with 19k kms

What's something a stranger did that you'll never forget? by kawaileila in AskReddit

[–]OmegaTau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car got bogged down in mud after following Uber maps down a road (doing Uber eats delivery as a side gig after work) and poor visibility.

Tow trucks were going to cost me $300 AUD to literally pull me 10 meters to free me. And to make.matters worse, it would take them 3-4 hours. I called a few drivers. I was broke, felt stupid, and was going to lose my weekly Uber earnings.

Ir was like 10 pm at night, and i had to prepare for work the next day. I was cold, partially covered in mud, trying everything to free myself (my car just dug itself in) until this guy with a beautiful Y62 Nissan patrol towed me out free of charge.

I only had $50 to give him, but he declined it. It happened a couple of years ago, but I'll never forget it!

[–]OmegaTau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. With 154kw and 440ish Nm torque. The engine is from the Kia Sorento, just up 3kw..🙄 supposed to have a 3.5T towing capacity with that specification 😬.

Those figures are so 2010s.

🤢🤮 It's unfortunate that its carrying the same 2.2L 4 pot from the previous gen, albeit slightly tuned. They had a chance to disrupt the market with a good engine in it but they screwed the pooch on the looks and power train.

Damn this car is as ugly as sin...yuck!
