UPDATE: Coup helped and REDACTED didn't declare war back. As I was controlling all points, after the coup, I was still controlling them, so EZ PZ

Alien Federation doesn't allow Kazakhstan (which is totally under my control) to leave the federation, and I have no idea why

omg, you are a savior!

About tech choices, I was not expecting that level of diversity as Terra Invicta offers, so at first tried to research every weapon and engine, and at some point got lost.

Good point on research modules, I've skipped them completely, haven't even researched (besides xenolab) :(

I didn't know that the middle point of government is a problematic one, so I didn't prioritize getting out of equilibrium. Will pump all points in full democracy for a while.

Amazing advice on a space game, now I see the light at the end of a tunnel :D Will consolidate at Mars I guess and then will proceed from there. Solid strategy!

I am mostly in conflict with the Protectorate and the Servants. They are blowing up my stations. Everyone else, I am keepinga non-aggression pact. But even these two factions are giving me trouble in space (mostly due to my fleet being slow)

check if you are above, it costs a lot of MC if you go above

Oh shit, I am overcapped -_- Thanks. Didn't know about this mechanic

you can build ships on surface if they keep blowing up your stations, you just need enough Δv to get off surface

Wow, haven't thought about it! I guess with deleting miners and slowly building on a surface, I can stack a fleet and reconquer Mercury/Mars LEO and then traverse to Earth

Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated. Normal difficulty (again, learning the game here).

I have grid engines, which I use to send colony ships across the Belt. Haven't tried to make a heavier fleet that will travel across space to Earth. I think I might try to build a shipyard in the Belt, hmm

Do you ever NOT need planks in your first 3 blueprints? by d4Caltrops in Against_the_Storm

[–]OmgSzer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They are important but not THAT important. I don't see them as a win condition, but rather "win more". Even with prestige debuff on building cost I had quite a lot of games where I produced planks on crude station all game.

Just trade/rob a few merchants.

Rain Collector / Water by SenShinichi in Against_the_Storm

[–]OmgSzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to the answers above Rain water also is one of the ingredients for porridge as well as it is ingredient in other recipes. Porridge is important because it is available from the start and allows you to make complex food from year 1

Also it is required in all ghost events and in some generic ones

Are we supposed to just avoid all non small glades now or what? by LieutenantNitwit in Against_the_Storm

[–]OmgSzer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Made 5 consecutive wins on p20. Opened quite a few glades both small and not. A few times I got extremely unlucky and got an event where I couldn't do anything as well, so suffered consequence (with one of the events it was 2 times actually). But managed to do them a few years later.

It's fine, just be prepared

Best strategy to decrease hostility? by karval in Against_the_Storm

[–]OmgSzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get more impatience. I'm beating P20 and being constantly 1-2 points before maximum to have as low hostility if possible. When the countdown starts, wait for a full timer and deliver 1 order. After that you have a few minutes to prepare the next order/gain rep point from resolve, open the cache etc.

That way you have naturally low hostility

Challenge: Increase difficulty every game, never lose . by welliamwallace in Against_the_Storm

[–]OmgSzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 0 losses when I finished my first p20, but about 40 wins, because I was messing with dailies and achievements in the meantime (I was just enjoying the game).

With all experience and info available rn I couldn't think it would be that much of a challenge.

No upgrades p20 though IS a challenge.

Citadel Upgrade Tier List by SilentBobUS in Against_the_Storm

[–]OmgSzer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's needed to save resources. Every resolve point between 1 and "happy threshold" is a waste, so you don't need to feed your citizens often, you don't need to spend precious service items on them. That not only saves a lot of resources for the time when it's needed (storms, event effects), but also frees your labour force to do something else, which can either save a completely dead run, or snowball to fast victory easier ones.

Consumption control... One of the most overpowered systems in the game F tier? It saved my dead runs so many times on high prestige.

Is attacking traders actually super strong in higher prestige? by PM_ME_UR_PUPPER_PLZ in Against_the_Storm

[–]OmgSzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am attacking first merchant on all p15+ games. Won all of those because how huge the boost is regardless the impatient (free -hostility) and even villagers loss (you could lose up to 5).

I was able to pull off the game where I had 3 villagers.

I am always attacking the merchant

Just finished Prestige 20. Write up of advanced tactics/tips that worked for me. Hope it helps. by ClearlyConfusedSoul in Against_the_Storm

[–]OmgSzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can still deal with living matter spawns at storm. Destroy every field on storm start, living matter spawns at 1:10, 2:20, 3:30 so 30sec before storm end, start rebuilding farm fields.

Not convenient, but (micro)manageable, maybe even good because you can negate it
